  1. I don't disagree with this. Here's hoping (and expecting) that your "if" comes true.
  2. Also on the front of: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ That's not good... Hey now, it's the website, not the magazine... Besides, how many times was Michael Jordan on the cover of SI? :) Or basically anyone else that is/was great in pro sports...
  3. How are the Redskins "a joke so far"? We're two flippin games in! They played a tight game with the Vikings at home and trailed the Cowboys by 7 heading to the 4th quarter at Dallas. That makes them a joke? gflore, Portis played against the Vikings and played most of the game so get that right. As far as the Panthers go, you're basically taking last year's offense substituting Steve Smith for Keyshawn Johnson and adding in DeAngelo Williams who is a stud. Yes they haven't looked good, but maybe the Falcons and Vikings have pretty good defenses? For crying out loud people, the Bears are the favorite and they should be. Leave it at that. It's just stupid when you try to spin that the Panthers and Redskins are on equal ground or not much better than the stinkin Lions and Packers. Use a little common sense. The Panthers without Steve Smith are a mediocre football team. The Redskins look weak this season. You talk about the Skins playing a tight game with another mediocre team in the Vikings, but then write off the Lions, who played a tight game with the reigning NFC Champs. I think you're the one who needs to use a little common sense.

  5. Also on the front of: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ I'm so proud... I might even shed a tear... :D

  7. Someone who gets it. I honestly think the Bears should handle the Vikings relatively easily. I'm not going to make any predictions, but I think I'll be right come Sunday. I think the same. But I don't think the Bears will win over the skeptics till they win a non-division game. Agreed. If the Bears wipe the floor with Minny this weekend, people will say the same things they're saying now. They'll just say Minnesota wasn't really that good and the Bears still haven't beaten anyone. That's fine. I'm really looking forward to that Sunday Night game with Seattle in week 4.

  9. One of my favorite parts of the Steelers Super Bowl Champions DVD is where they show the Bengals celebrating after beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh. They're talking copious amounts of trash to the fans, T.J. Houshmfaidhrfad;lfheh is polishing his cleats with a terrible towel, they are doing that ridiculous Who Dey crap, you get the idea. Then we get to the playoff game highlights, and you know the rest. I think Cincy is still a year or two away, though they have a chance to put the Steelers in an early 1-2 hole. I'll be watching this game in Las Vegas, as I am heading there tomorrow. Of course, the Steelers only won that game because Palmer got hurt. If that doesn't happen, I'm pretty sure the outcome of that game would have been very different. I can't stand how some people (I'm not saying you) use the playoffs to legitimize teams that happen to win in a one-and-done situation. They also got lucky in the Colts game. The Colts played about as poorly as they could've, and it still took a miracle tackle by Big Ben for them to win. Sure, the Steelers were good last year and took advantage of their opportunities, but there were better teams in the NFL. The Bengals were one of them. I won't disagree that there were better teams, I will not agree that the Bengals were one of them. I think its ludicrous to definitively say who would have won the game when Palmer went out on the second play of the game. You have no idea how that game would have turned out and neither do I. Did it guarantee a Steeler victory? Sure. But you can't say that if it hadn't happened a Bengal victory was assured. As for the Indy game, the Steelers punched them in the mouth all day. Its easy to say that a team you think was better played poorly instead of giving the Steelers credit for forcing the issue. The great Peyton Manning had no idea where the blitz was coming from and the defenses were disguised perfectly. You cite "the tackle" as the reason they won, but what about the HORRENDOUS call on the Polamalu interception? The only reason the Colts were in that game at all because of one costly Pittsburgh mistake and a brutal call by the officials. Also, in the history of sports, the playoffs have decided who is legitimate and who isn't. They are the whole reason that you play the games. The Steelers would not have been a sixth seed if they hadn't had to start Tommy Maddox in two games. He single-handedly gave away the game against Jacksonville last year. Fair enough, you make some good points in defense of the Steelers. To be totally honest, I don't remember the Steelers/Colts game terribly well (I was more just watching to kill time until I could watch the Bears game). My point really has to do less with them and more with playoffs in general. To me, they're a lot of fun for the fans and the players, but they mean very little (again, to me) in terms of determining who the best teams really are.

  11. When was the last time the Bears scored under 17 pts with Rex starting? If you don't count that game where he was injured at the half at the end of 2003, has he ever led the team to less than 16 or 17?
  12. Vote Rex for FedEx Air Player of the Week http://www.nfl.com/partners/fedex
  13. Could he be taking a sarcastic shot at ARam? Probably not, I guess.
  14. Elaborate, or don't post at all. Do I really need to elaborate? I do know that I don't need to be told if or when to post. You want elaboration? Maddux will be an overpaid average to below average starting pitcher. He's a nostalgia act. It would be a terrible move to bring him back when you can get the same or better production out of a league minimum rookie.
  15. what? As Roy Williams says, when teams do what they're supposed to do, they will, of course, win.
  16. The Chargers and Ravens??  I crack myself up.
  17. NO. No. Um, no.
  18. This might help people decide... http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/Grossman.jpg
  19. I think the serious concern is that it's something to do with the brain. I'm hoping and praying it's not. Sudden loss of vision like this can be a symptom (although not one of the more common ones) of sickle-cell anemia, which, coincidentally or not, has a relatively high rate of occurence in African American children. I hope this doesn't wind up being the case, but if it is, she'll ultimately need a bone-marrow transplant. I suppose this is just speculation until we hear more. My thoughts are with Derrek and his family. :(
  20. Beautiful, isn't it? Or should I say "sexy?" #1 rated QB in the NFL http://home.comcast.net/~davhern2/Grossman.jpg
  21. 24-9 Bears Grossman 17-27 225 yards, 2 TD 1 INT
  22. Just to warn ya, it doesn't bother me, but that language isn't gonna go over well here.
  23. That's actually not a good thing. Right. Except i meant to say .020 Stupid decimal places. I always mess up some mundane detail like that. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/snetsrak43/bolton.jpg This is not a mundane detail, Michael!
  24. IIRC, it was Sosa for Soriano, Nick Johnson, Ricky Ledee, and I think Ted Lilly. Just imagine if we had pulled that off. Yeah, just imagine--you'd be plenty upset. Sosa almost got the team in the playoffs in 01, and he was our biggest bat in the 03 run. He also put up some mighty fine numbers in 02 and wasn't bad in 04 even, at least until the last month and a half or so. Meanwhile, Soriano has been hot and cold, Nick Johnson is always hurt, Ricky Ledee is a deadbeat, and Ted Lilly is a dime-a-dozen #4 starter. Sometimes, the best trades are the ones not made after all.... QFT
