I think a lot of it depends on this season. How durable he proves to be (personally, I think his injuries were a fluke; don't see how a ligament tear and a broken ankle can be linked to any common cause) will be a big factor. If he plays 15-16 games, puts up good numbers, and the Bears have success in the playoffs (hell, even if they don't), I think you have to make an effort to lock him up after this season. The beauty of it is that NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. I think the cheapest we'll get him while still having a good idea of how productive he can be with this team will be after this season.
