  1. ....what if the Knicks REALLY suck again this year and we wind up with Greg Oden??  *crosses fingers* Could a more ridiculous collection of young talent be assembled? EDIT - Greg Oden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCYVQlg2NUQ
  2. Update on WSCR just mentioned that sources indicate that the Cubs are getting closer to re-signing Aramis. No link or anything, just thought I'd post it here.

  4. Damn, I knew that... Don't think we'll get there today...maybe we'll have to settle for modern NFL history... Super Bowl era?
  5. Anyone know the widest margin of victory in NFL history?
  6. Dusty also said that the key for the Tigers to get their offense on track in the series would be for them to start getting guys on base... Whodathunkit?
  7. I'll be in Vegas... Hopefully, I can find a good sportsbook to go watch it at. LOL. I don't think you'll have too much trouble. Have fun :) Haha.. Thanks... glad you caught the sarcasm.

  9. Yea. It's not news. Been known since training camp, if I remember right.
  10. He probably would have if the Lee deal hadn't materialized. I will say at least Hendry was good enough to pull that deal off. But back then, he was dealing from a position of strength. Now he's not, and I don't see how he rebuilds this ballclub in its current state, with precious few chips to deal with, and real limits on the amount of money he can spend. :?: Unless I'm mistaken, by most accounts he'll have nearly 40 million to play with this offseason...
  11. To reiterate... Releasing Mark Prior to avoid paying his salary is quite possibly one of the worst ideas anyone has ever come up with.
  12. Somebody get Ron Gant on the phone. Is Dave Justice still serviceable? Sid Bream anyone? Jeff Blauser? Surely they'd have better luck with him than we did. :x Funny thing is, he wasn't nearly as bad as people wanted to believe. I mean, he was bad, dont' get me wrong, but I would've taken that .340-.350 OBP out of the leadoff spot over Pierre. Hell, in 1999 he was clearly better than JP of 2006.
  13. Of course, you could also say that had Grossman not thrown those interceptions, those games wouldn't have even been in question and the better team just managed to win despite themselves in both cases. I'm just sayin.
  14. Thanks for the heads up, vance!
  15. Rex in studio for Sunday NFL Countdown.
  16. Oh, oh, pick me! I know! It's a myth.
  17. Play Soriano (in CF). Play Pie (in CF) and Soriano (at 2B).
  18. And what dues did Joe Girardi paid when he when he was hired in Florida last yr? I do agree that Sandgerg should get "experience" as a coach, but to use the "paid his dues" quote on Sandberg and not on somebody like a Joe Girardi, is meaningless. Am I crazy, or wasn't he at least a bench coach under Torre? More than Sandberg can say.
  19. The first time Izturis goes on the 15-day DL Theriot replaces him and we never look back XXfingersXX Niether one of these guys is in the starting lineup on next year's team XXfingersXX.
  20. Are you honestly arguing against Ichiro on this team? The man is the best leadoff hitter in the game and picks up 200+ hits every season, not to mention the stolen bases and great defense. Overrated. Overpaid.
  21. Hopefully, this means that ARod is being looked at as a SS and not a 3B... I think the national media just saw the ARam situation, coupled it with the fact that ARod plays 3B, and thought they saw the fit there. I think it's more likely that if we are interested in ARod, it's as another bat, on top of Aramis and Lee. Not to post another fantasy lineup, but with just those 3, this lineup looks good already, even without making another change. Murton, Barrett, Lee, ARod, ARam, Jones, Mystery CF, Theriot/Izturis (2B) Not that that's how I'd want it (I'd still like another bat), but it's pretty insane what ONE huge upgrade can do to a lineup. Sure, it's righty heavy, but who cares...and if that mystery CF is Soriano, you have quite possibly the best lineup in baseball.
  22. It's not at all out of the question that he just said that because he wanted to avoid tampering charges. Definitely.
  23. They just showed the clip of Piniella when he dismissed the ARod rumors. He brought his hand up to his face and sort of looked away. I'm no expert, but aren't those classic signs, or "tells," of lying? Of course, he might've just been nervous.
  24. If the deal was Pie and Hill, I'd go for it. The "for starters" line concerns me however. Ditto and ditto. Thirded. Fourthed. But, on the other hand, it's better than if they said Zambrano or Prior for starters. Pie, Hill and, let's say, Jacque (or maybe a few other prospects)... SOLD
