  1. 4th team might be giving up* someone almost as bad as Kwame? For LA, it isn't really about improving, right? Kobe wants out. It's not like they want to trade him. A lateral move in which they still have a superstar would be a good thing, because they most likely aren't going to get equal value for Kobe in any one on one deals. EDITED to make sense
  2. http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=674590&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=960 I don't really understand where the 4th team comes in, and what they'd be giving up...but it seems like the three named parties would make out pretty well. Not sure how it works with the cap, either. Just figured I'd pass along for discussion. I'd give that up for Kobe. In an ideal world, I'd love to keep TT around because that would be a really exciting team to watch, but I think that deal looks decently fair for all involved. Gordon, TT and Duhon for Kobe? Wow. and the #9
  3. This is from an "insider" from the RealGM boards, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess...but the guy has a semi-decent reputation as far as this kind of info. Either way, interesting. 4. Your ideas are intriguing and well-reasoned. Do you have a pamphlet?
  5. You're gross over generalization of the passing game makes no sense to me. I don't think I ever asked for them to let him throw 5 INTs or take 7 step drops every pass. The Bears have to pass the ball. The cliche of "concentrating on a power running game" is nothing more than a cliche. The Bears don't just need Grossman to hand off and throw the occasional pass, they need him to drop back and throw deep. They need him to throw underneath. They need a well rounded offense that includes lots of runs and lots of passed. I couldn't agree more. I'm so tired of the cliche crap in sports, and I think you see more of it with 'Chicago Bears football' than anywhere else.
  6. Kobe is a top 3 player but the Lakers have limited bargaining power here. The Bulls need to realize that and also realize that Kobe is going to be 29 before next season and will have 11 years on him - he's no spring chicken. I'd be wary of a Kobe trade gutting the team and that's why I'm not completely interested. This isn't to deny that Kobe is a superb basketball player, this is to determine the best possible trade for the Bulls and have the best possible team. Exactly. It's not about Deng and Gordon not being fair value for Kobe, it's about the fact that the Lakers are in no position to demand fair value in return. On top of that, there's no way Kobe will accept the trade if it guts the team he's headed to. It would make it a lateral move. Superstars with no trade clauses who demand trades are usually traded for cents on the dollar.
  7. Too much. Kobe is not going to net the Lakers that much, they're the ones in the tight spot, not us.
  8. yes, that's about 100 per year, which isn't a small amount. How many LHP do you think there are in every rotation, three or four? Your argument that Jones could learn how to hit lefties is idiotic. He pretty much acknowledged that there's probably something to the argument that Jones just can't hit lefties in his post. He makes a very good point with regard to Pie.
  9. It's poking fun at Starbucks.
  10. Isn't that Izturis with Z in that one pic? Also, is it just me, or does Felix look a lot like Akon? EDIT - Nevermind, it's definitely not Izturis. Not sure who that is.
  11. not with this offense and bullpen, we shouldn't. The Cubs really aren't as good on paper as you think they are. 35-29 Pythag W-L Maybe they shouldn't be quite that good. And they definitely shouldn't be 10-15 games over, but they've really had a lot of bad luck (or sucky relief pitching, however you want to look at it) in close games. I know I'm just repeating what's been said many times over on here, but, while they've played nothing like world beaters, they've definitely played significantly better than their record would indicate.
  12. Seriously. Saturday night game? Like WTH?
  13. I was at Midway Airport in one of the sports bars waiting for my plane to Vegas watching that. Had to board my flight right when they tied.
  14. Anyone remember when Frank Castillo blew one in the 9th (possibly with 2 outs) at Wrigley against the Cards? 1995, IIRC. It was either Bernard Gilkey or Ray Lankford that broke it up with a triple. Think it was Gilkey, but I was 12 so who knows?
  15. Sucking without being able to throw jump balls to Randy Moss? No, thanks on Culpepper.
  16. Wow. LMAO. Z has vowed to throw 98 mph to quiet all the people speculating that he has arm problems. Ridiculous. Z is nuts. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070605cubsbits,1,6051457.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  17. Probably just sour grapes from some stripper he turned down for a lap dance. Really, who would grant a stripper any credibility?
  18. At least we'll have Dusty D available this year. It could be worse.
  19. clearly, if you want to be a GM in this league, make sure "made game winning 3-pointer for Bulls in NBA Finals" is right at the top of your resume Unfortunately, Steve doesn't have this prereq on his resume. ;)
  20. I would die a happy man if I never had to see the acronym 'RISP' again.
  21. Izturis sucks because he sucks. Not because of what he's done this year (which has turned out pretty well). We have a whole career's worth of PA's to tell us that he sucks. Still, the real reason we suck has little to do with him and a lot to do with some of the other problems that have already been mentioned here.
  22. Bulls were mentioned on ESPN as a likely destination for Kobe if he is moved now that he has semi-demanded a trade. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2884339 If we could somehow do it without giving up Deng (and, I guess, Hinrich) I'd be all for it. I know lots of people dislike Kobe, but Kobe >>>>> BG. It's pretty much that simple. If we had to give up too much of the core, though, we'd just be an Eastern Conference version on the Lakers.
