  1. All non-playoff teams have X amount of "balls" put in and they draw 3 balls. Those three teams are the top 3 picks After that, all remaining teams pick in reverse order of finish, starting with pick 4. The Bulls pick (from the Knicks) is 9th in a straight "reverse order". The Bulls could either move up to 1-3, or, if they don't, would pick 9, 10 or 11. Only way they pick 10 or 11 is if a team behind them in a "straight" order were to jump into the lottery when did that change? When did what change? It's been that way for as long as I can remember. 1995 maybe?
  2. I think he's down 2 or 3 mph from a couple years ago. I remember him hitting 99 in the NLCS. He was always more effective working in the 94mph range, but even when he really lets one fly it's not as hard as it had been. Was that the game where Beckett also threw one at "99" to Sammy? I had my doubts about the gun in that game.
  3. I'm guessing you are exaggerating a bit. I read about him a couple times. It seems the writers are making a conscious decision to not talk about the so-called QB controversy though, realizing what a waste of time it is to ask for the millionth time whether or not Lovie is thinking about bringing in Griese. Could be. I wasn't reading things very closely, but it seemed that everything was Hester-related. Well it's definitely been limited. I wonder how he's handled the Super Bowl. I'd bet he's just been working his ass off with the new coaches to get better and gain the consistency that's keeping him from being a very good QB.
  4. Well think of it this way. He's already contributed more than Airese Currie 8-) The man, the myth...
  5. I'm with CT. It's fun. Yeah, its the baseball version of Puddy and Eileen from Seinfield. On again, off again in a moments time. Who? Susie?
  6. Those crazy situational stats are almost meaningless. The sample sizes are rarely significant. How are his overall stats against lefties and in how many PA's?
  7. http://nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/spencerhawes.html Just thought I'd throw this in. Take a look at what his #1 attribute is.
  8. Count me out for this thread. I do not, never have, and never will have any appreciation for Angel Pagan.
  9. I'm not saying it does. Just clearing up what I thought he was saying.
  10. Ryan Langerhans. That's who it was.
  11. Yeah couldn't they have made a trade or something? I mean we DO have alot of decent peices. But oh well, whatever. . I'm in the "wait and see" camp. . No one is trading in May.... Says you? Have you seen any trades lately? While big names aren't likely to be traded at this point in the season, there's no reason that you wouldn't see the smaller types of deals, like ones for relief pitchers, at this point in the season. Also, as for whether or not I've seen trades lately, didn't what's his name get traded twice in the last few weeks? I can't remember who it was.

  13. I wonder if Alex had a heads up about this...perhaps why he's seeking a trade. I forget it it was Lawrence Holmes or Zack Zademan that was saying how good Hester looked out there catching passes, but admitted it will be different when there's contact. I still prefer Lovie's style of simply giving the starting job to the high performers, at least in many cases. We've been on the other side of this coin. The Dick Jauron / Dave Waanstedt style of "you're the veteran, you get the job unless you're injured" is B.S. and quite simply does not work very often. If Alex Brown can't handle it, then he should play better. He's a guy who has never really realized his full potential IMHO anyway. Mark Anderson flat out played better than Alex last year. Agreed, but then how do you explain Alex Brown behind Ogunleye. I thought Wale was in for a big year up until the Seattle game. He got hurt and didn't do anything the rest of the year. Alex was better against the run, had more sacks, forced fumbles, had 2 picks. Wait. What do you mean? Alex & Wale don't play the same position. Alex is working out as a backup on both sides.
  14. It's not a poor argument at all. Our pen is a joke. Guz isn't a dominant SP. The argument that he's worth more as a starting pitcher b/c he'd throw more innings is ridiculous. You have to actually pitch well in those starts for that argument to be even remotely valid. Gooz has the stuff to be lights out in the pen. He doesn't have the stuff to consistently dominate as a ML starter. If that changeup ever comes back, then fine. Cramps schmamps. Gooz has a very significant injury history. Limiting the number of innings he pitches is a smart thing. It is a terrible argument. Starters = more important than relievers. As for the bolded part, says who? Your expert opinion? EDIT - English-snob remark deleted. I'm a moron.
  15. Wow. A new and improved Cubs sweeper. Nice.
  16. I'd rather see them try to hit balls through the hole than swing for the fences all day. ??? They should just be trying to hit the ball hard somewhere, and leaving the rest up to the baseball gods/luck.
  17. Ugh. This is beyond stupid.
  18. I had forgotten how much I  this team.
  19. Hoping for Hawes, myself. Not a fan?
  20. because most people use stats to predict future value. high correlation of data usually. Statistics like W-L record in one run games are almost entirely devoid of predictive value. In the same vein as BA with RISP and 2 outs. Exactly.

  22. Why do people like to act as though stats like wins and losses in one run games have any sort of predictive value whatsoever? Stats like this tell you about the past. They tell you very little, if anything at all, about the future.
  23. So, I'm reading all the drama in here and expect to check the score and see us down like 6-1 at least... It's 2-1.
