  1. What do you take issue with?
  2. You can thank me and UMFan for starting the game threads. I'll wait until the end of the season to see if you're still making them before I thank you. 159-14 sounds good to me.

  4. Cubs tied it in the bottom of the 9th on a Floyd single (Marquis pinch run), Ward single, and Theriot single. Cubs had winning run on 3rd with 1 out in the 10th but couldn't score. Cubs win in the 11th on a Murton double, Blanco single, Ward single :-s Cubs won in 10.
  5. I felt like he swung at ball 4 there, but then I was happy.
  6. I don't see an issue with it. Daryl "Babe Ruth" Ward up now. I don't either. I just think it's funny how we use a starting pitcher as sort of a supersub.
  7. Lou was just overmanaging again. I think our best managed game is going to be when he sets the lineup and has a stroke in the dugout shortly thereafter, rendering him into a stupour for the next 3 hours. Wow. That's pretty severe. Couldn't he just fall asleep for 3 hours?
  8. I woke up late... was there any reason Gooz was pulled after only 5? His stats looked fine...was he struggling?
  9. Ugh...swinging at the first pitch ftl.
  10. Nice. Gooz gets robbed of the win.
  11. I agree. Still, I guess I'd rather him burn through the bullpen than burn through the starters, ala Dusty.
  12. Lou has been waiting to break up the two left-handers in the rotation ever since they got put together. Plus, they decided that they'd rather let Guzman get his first start out of the way at home against a worse offense than have to face a team like the Phillies at their place for his first start. Heh...then put Hill #1 where he belongs, Z at #2 and Lilly #3. ? The order really means absolutely nothing.
  13. http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/pitch_glossary.shtml Think of it as being sort of like an IQ scale. 100 = league average higher is good then? Take a look at Rich Hill's in the previous game thread and tell me if you have your answer. ;)

  15. I just had a flashback to that game against the D'Backs in 04 or 03 where the park (the whole Chicago area, actually) was just flooded with bugs.
  16. A couple of months? I know a baseball season is kind of long, but come on. I'm still trying to figure out how a baseball team learns to win with each other. So Derrek, you like hitting the ball that way and think I should run around the bases when you hit it. That's cool, we did that differently in Washington, but I'll figure it out. Hey Carlos, I think we need to figure out which days you plan on giving up lots of runs and which days you'll give up just 1 or 2, so we can adjust our offensive strategy accordingly. Maybe he just meant that the team will "gel" after awhile. But I don't think it will take 2 months. :D It has already started. It started the day they came back with 4 runs in one inning to take the lead. "gel"-ling is the same thing, it;s a meaningless baseball term more appropriate in the world of basketball or football, where timing is absolutely of the utmost importance. baseball is not really a team sport. the cubs weren't winning at the beginning of the year because they weren't hitting at the right times, which is no one's fault. I disagree. There shouldn't be such a limited right time. They were hitting enough, and the times they were hitting at really are out of their control. They didn't have runners on base when they were hitting because they didn't get on base enough, which is their fault.
  17. You guys have any problem with me starting a whole bunch more game threads? Say, for the next week or more?
  18. Make sure you direct that to the hitters.
