  1. http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/pitch_glossary.shtml Think of it as being sort of like an IQ scale. 100 = league average higher is good then? Take a look at Rich Hill's in the previous game thread and tell me if you have your answer. ;)

  3. I just had a flashback to that game against the D'Backs in 04 or 03 where the park (the whole Chicago area, actually) was just flooded with bugs.
  4. A couple of months? I know a baseball season is kind of long, but come on. I'm still trying to figure out how a baseball team learns to win with each other. So Derrek, you like hitting the ball that way and think I should run around the bases when you hit it. That's cool, we did that differently in Washington, but I'll figure it out. Hey Carlos, I think we need to figure out which days you plan on giving up lots of runs and which days you'll give up just 1 or 2, so we can adjust our offensive strategy accordingly. Maybe he just meant that the team will "gel" after awhile. But I don't think it will take 2 months. :D It has already started. It started the day they came back with 4 runs in one inning to take the lead. "gel"-ling is the same thing, it;s a meaningless baseball term more appropriate in the world of basketball or football, where timing is absolutely of the utmost importance. baseball is not really a team sport. the cubs weren't winning at the beginning of the year because they weren't hitting at the right times, which is no one's fault. I disagree. There shouldn't be such a limited right time. They were hitting enough, and the times they were hitting at really are out of their control. They didn't have runners on base when they were hitting because they didn't get on base enough, which is their fault.
  5. You guys have any problem with me starting a whole bunch more game threads? Say, for the next week or more?
  6. Make sure you direct that to the hitters.
  7. Angel Moises Guzman http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7280.jpg 168 ERA+ 1.23 WHIP vs. Shawn Richard Hill http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7350.jpg 131 ERA+ 1.08 WHIP Least statistically lopsided pitching match-up we've had all series. Do this, Gooz. Let's get the sweep.
  8. I'm more peeved at Lou for putting us in a position where he would have to make a call. Exactly.
  9. Ah, thanks. Shows how much I know. I actually sort of remember hearing that, now. I guess I was in denial about it.
  10. As much as I like Michael as a hitter, I really can't stand his tendency to swing at the first pitch.
  11. We all know what's going on with Prior, but what's going on with Woody? Late spring he was still pitching in the cactus league games, but then there was the whole fuss about whether he could pitch back to back days and that he wouldn't make the team until he could. That's the last I remember hearing. Anyone know what he's doing? Is he even pitching? Is he hurt?
  12. I am pretty sure he is, according to the thread in Baseball Discussions, and I'm pretty happy about that. Here's to Gooz solving that last spot in the rotation.
  13. Just going to say that. On a roll... BTW, who are you on realgm? I'm Ryguy24 I'm also davhern over there. I don't post a whole lot, but my claim to fame is that I was the starter of the Ben Wallace signing thread. nice work LOL Thank you very much. I can't take all the credit, though... Wait, yea, I can.

  17. Yup. Z's a horse. He just has that 'something.'
  18. Z http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6559.jpg 71 ERA+ 1.63 WHIP vs. Jason Bergmann http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7637.jpg 139 ERA+ 1.10 WHIP Don't suck, Cubs.
  19. The thing is, none (or, at least, most) of the things in that song were actually ironies.
  20. Thanks (I guess). Pretty much how I pictured it.
  21. IIRC it was hovering around 93% when Castillo was up to bat. Must've been at like 99% the other way at the end of that inning... So, so sick.
  22. I hate to bring it up, but I wonder what a chart like that would look like for Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS.
