  1. Right now, I just care about the Cubs winning the division (or the WC). If it takes 90, fine. If it takes 85 or less, I'm plenty happy with that as well. How the Brewers do over the next month has a big impact on if the Cubs are in the race or out of the race at the deadline (of course, what the Cubs do has a bigger impact). Exactly.
  2. Actually, it does. It matters a whole lot more than getting to .500.
  3. Is it me or are Marmol's mannerisms looking Z-esque today?
  4. Yep, then corey patterson walked up to him and refused to give him an autograph. And then later after that, Moises Alou walked to Barrett and urinated on Barrett's hands. And LaTroy Hawkins just laughed and laughed as he set a bus full of nuns on fire. and then Sammy just left.
  5. I'm so screwed here.
  6. Can't wait. The only remotely negative thing about football season is that it means winters on its way.
  7. Paying him market value for his production doesn't make it alright for them to crap all over him and his Cub career just because he left the last game of a frustrating season a few innings early. The idea of it being revenge is stupid, though. I'd think of it more as poetic justice.
  8. Excellent. They do it for everybody. Did they do it for Juan Gon, too?
  9. I was gonna attempt to look up stats to refute this...but I can't find any. Oh, well.
  10. I gotta say, I'm glad to see Marquis give that up. Serves him right for taking the number. Show a little respect, even if the organization won't. He'll be immortalized forever with the Steve Trachsels of the world.
  11. I have not much to say here except... 5-1 My record as a game thread starter speaks for itself. A vote for me is a vote for the Cubs... Oh, and raw likes to hurt baby animals (including clubbing baby seals) for fun.
  12. Welcome to 3-4 days ago and the reason the original Kobe thread on here started. ;) He's not really trashing Bynum so much as saying (in so many words) that he was frustrated with the fact that they wouldn't deal Bynum for Jason Kidd. Also, in an audio clip attached to the video, they plead with him to stay with the Lakers and he says something to the effect of, "Get a Bulls uniform, fellas." i thought maybe this was different, as my Google Sports News had it listed as a headline just now I'm pretty sure it's different than the "Bulls Jersey" clip LINK Nope. It's the same exact one. Media just took till now to catch on about it.
  13. From the same Kobe trade thread at RealGM... Seems to jibe, at least somewhat, with what we're hearing about the big trade involving the T-Wolves. Still don't get the 4th team part.

  15. Without a doubt I'd rather have Kobe, especially given the package you're giving up (Gordon, Duhon, Thomas, #9). I agree...but if we make this deal, what on earth are we doing at the 4 next year? Re-sign both Noc and PJ? It would suck to have an aging Wallace and PJ as our frontcourt... but you can't have it all, I guess.
  16. 4th team might be getting someone almost as bad as Kwame? For LA, it isn't really about improving, right? Kobe wants out. It's not like they want to trade him. A lateral move in which they still have a superstar would be a good thing, because they most likely aren't going to get equal value for Kobe in any one on one deals. Deals can't be made until next week, right? Not really sure.
  17. Just to add... might we be better off (although, I admit, I'd rather have Kobe regardless, because he's my favorite player) shipping that package over for KG and going with... Wallace, KG, Deng, Thabo, Kirk I'm not saying we would be...just tossing it out there. Our perimeter game would take a huge hit, unless Kirk/Thabo really improved.

  19. http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=674590&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=960 I don't really understand where the 4th team comes in, and what they'd be giving up...but it seems like the three named parties would make out pretty well. Not sure how it works with the cap, either. Just figured I'd pass along for discussion. I'd give that up for Kobe. In an ideal world, I'd love to keep TT around because that would be a really exciting team to watch, but I think that deal looks decently fair for all involved. Gordon, TT and Duhon for Kobe? Wow. and the #9
  20. This is from an "insider" from the RealGM boards, so take it with a grain of salt, I guess...but the guy has a semi-decent reputation as far as this kind of info. Either way, interesting. 21. Your ideas are intriguing and well-reasoned. Do you have a pamphlet?
  22. You're gross over generalization of the passing game makes no sense to me. I don't think I ever asked for them to let him throw 5 INTs or take 7 step drops every pass. The Bears have to pass the ball. The cliche of "concentrating on a power running game" is nothing more than a cliche. The Bears don't just need Grossman to hand off and throw the occasional pass, they need him to drop back and throw deep. They need him to throw underneath. They need a well rounded offense that includes lots of runs and lots of passed. I couldn't agree more. I'm so tired of the cliche crap in sports, and I think you see more of it with 'Chicago Bears football' than anywhere else.
  23. Kobe is a top 3 player but the Lakers have limited bargaining power here. The Bulls need to realize that and also realize that Kobe is going to be 29 before next season and will have 11 years on him - he's no spring chicken. I'd be wary of a Kobe trade gutting the team and that's why I'm not completely interested. This isn't to deny that Kobe is a superb basketball player, this is to determine the best possible trade for the Bulls and have the best possible team. Exactly. It's not about Deng and Gordon not being fair value for Kobe, it's about the fact that the Lakers are in no position to demand fair value in return. On top of that, there's no way Kobe will accept the trade if it guts the team he's headed to. It would make it a lateral move. Superstars with no trade clauses who demand trades are usually traded for cents on the dollar.
  24. Too much. Kobe is not going to net the Lakers that much, they're the ones in the tight spot, not us.
