  1. A natural SS would make that play, amirite? NO my point was that you have to be very tall to snare that ball Maybe natural SS's are taller and have better hops? And don't have shooting pains in their pelvis when they jump from a spinal condition..
  2. A natural SS would make that play, amirite?
  3. I don't see why you'd make the condescending remark. It would make complete sense to move him to RF. Hell, he should be in RF now. You act as though almost every other OF doesn't play the OF positions interchangeably (and, much of the time, far more out of place than Sori would be in RF).
  4. The last thing we need is bullpen help. There are FAR higher priorities.
  5. Yes. Reminds me of Garland for Karchner. Pointless and dumb.
  6. Please not another thread full of Jim Rome impressions. Please.
  7. It sounded like they had a basic agreement once the deadline passed, so I'm not that surprised. It's certainly nice to have it done two days before camp begins, though. I was fully expecting him to symbolically sit out at least part of training camp, if not all the preseason. But I was certain he'd be around for all 16 games. I wonder how the "Bears are having a disastrous offseason" crowd will respond. Won't we be returning 20 starters from last year now (minus Tank & TJ)? Yeah, real disastrous LOL. Technically, didn't Ian Scott start at DT over Tank?
  8. Your avatar is gonna give me a seizure, man. Since everyone is having seizures or getting dizzy, i changed it, this one better? wow, I thought THAT was the one giving people seizures. glad I missed the old one Ok Fine.Any complaints on this one? Personally, I didn't really mind the first two. Opinions are like a-holes though...

Him feeling comfortable at a position has nothing to do with him being a 'natural' SS. Your definition of this term is just completely different from mine and anyone else's I've ever heard. Being a natural shortstop means you have the natural tools (arm, range, glove, etc.) to field SS well. If I feel comfortable playing SS in the major leagues, but I'm really, really bad, does that make me a 'natural' SS? Theriot is a passable SS, at best, and I'm glad Piniella is using him there because he's better than the alternative. Hopefully, Ronny can solidify that position by hitting as well as Riot while fielding it a little better. Again, I'm not too concerned about Riot's defense, because I don't really care that much about defense as long as the guy can make the routine plays, but to say that Riot is a 'natural' SS is more than a reach, IMO.
  10. Looks like an agreement will be reached with Briggs and there will be no holdout from training camp. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070724briggs,1,5604166.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  11. He did, and was almost placed on IR. What a mistake that would have been. Yea, I was just responding to the OP saying that Anderson impressed in camp last year. And yes, it would've been a huge mistake. Just like IRing Dusty probably wound up being.
  12. I thought Mark Anderson missed last year's training camp.
  13. The Reds are out of it. By trading Dunn, they are waving the white flag anyways. What do they care? What if Dunn gets hurt in those few games he is playing against the Cubs and the Reds lose out on a package of prospects because they didn't want him to hurt them right away.
  14. How many 4th OF's put up a .907 OPS in their first stretch of significant MLB playing time and an .809 OPS in their first full season as (fairly) regular players?
  15. So are you saying that Ronny Cedeno's basement level of productions is something close to the .291/.352/.486 that Lopez put up in 2005? That is essentially what he said. Now, is that what he meant?
  16. This is beyond absurd. It's like talking to a brick wall. For the record, I don't care that Theriot's defense is below average at SS because his bat has been alright. We would be better off with an upgrade though, but not because of his glove. That said, to suggest that Theriot is a natural SS at the major league level....well, you'd have to have a very different definition of "natural" than I do.
  17. http://allstar.rotoworld.com/scb/lm/reports/player.asp?sport=BB&Leaguenum=9592&Mode=&X=7670&Y=0 Note: the source is the Chicago Sun Times Translated - He can hit pretty well...with DeRosa here he can't really play 2B everyday, and Izturis is terrible. He played some SS before, let's see if we can get by with his glove there. I mean, seriously. Can you really be suggesting that Ryan Theriot is a natural Major League SS?
  18. LOL This is hilaroius. Theriot a natural MLB SS? Right. Not a chance.
  19. It's a risk...but it's one I'd be willing to take. Depends on the cost, really.
  20. Trade for Lofton AND Griffey. =P~ Lofton Lee Ramirez Griffey Soriano DeRosa/Fontenot Theriot Kendall or Lofton Theriot Lee Ramirez Griffey Soriano DeRosa/Fontenot Kendall
  21. Soul gave it away by not capitalizing the 'B' in "baseball."
  22. I'm guessing this is in preparation for the World Series, since you have 9 position players listed there. Beat ya.
  23. Gonna be hard to play with two second basemen and no pitcher. ;) Although, FWIW, Kendall's bat is about as good as a pitcher's.
  24. Ah, I get it now.. the ledge reference.
  25. i would undaaa staaaaaa eee aaaaaaa eeee aaaaaand Is it just me or are you singing 3rd Eye Blind... Jumper
