    I doubt Griffey is happening. Tex is definitely not gonna happen. Dunn and Dye are the best hopes right now. Personally, I think Griffey is significantly more likely than Dunn. He just seems like he's far more of a Hendry type of acquisition than Dunn is. Not saying I wouldn't prefer Dunn long term, I just don't see Hendry valuing his skills properly.

    meh, you still have Hawk dragging down the broadcast, I don't care how good Stone is. I think the potential for amazingness is about the pairing of personalities in Stone with Hawk, and has little to do with how good (or not) Stone is himself.

    As another aside... After 99 games... The 2007 Cubs are 53-46 The 2003 Cubs were 50-49 The 2004 Cubs were 53-46 (the best Cubs team in recent memory)

    Depends on how well you think Gallagher could do in Marshall's spot. Almost .200 OPS points is a MASSIVE improvement. We can't just look past that fact. I understand that...but is it worth the gamble that you'd be taking in putting a completely untested rookie pitcher into the rotation? I say no. But I understand both sides. Assuming you think the Cubs still have a good shot at the playoffs with a Gallagher starting the rest of the way, you also have to take into account that in the playoffs, Marshall probably doesn't see much, if any, time, while Griffey can very well have a significant impact.

    I didn't look at any others, but Dempster's looks fine. 1 K in 2.0 IP = .5K/IP or 4.5/9IP

    I could see Greg Olsen starting by opening day too, if not at some point in the season. That would also, likely, be an improvement, despite Clark's nice year last year. Not in the blocking dept. Clark should start. Olsen should get significant time though. I'd really like to see is a formation with Berrian and Bradley on the outside. Olsen in the slot. Hester and Wolfe as split backs. Get Olsen on a nickel back, probably a good 5 inches shorter. Get 2 fast RBs on LBs or safeties. So much speed there... it's just sick.

    This is true. ...but I still say it's ridiculous to essentially call Theriot a prototypical shortstop.

    I haven't been great about updating it after every game, but here's another update. The goal has gotten every so slightly harder to reach as they've only gone .500 over the last four.
