  1. You can't be serious. This argument is absurd. Do you think that "loser" Sammy Sosa in his prime (1998-2002) would not help this team? If you don't, I'm not sure what to say. How many teams did he help in that period? How many times was LOSER Sammy in the playoffs? More times than those losers Santo, Williams, Banks, Jenkins. Just as many times as that hack Sandberg. But yeah, keep the logic train rolling. OH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT... I was gonna go one way, but that way was SOOOOOOO much better.

  3. Not only do we not need it, it would be excessive. I don't see how we would use all of those guys.
  4. The whole notion of a selfish baseball player is ridiculous, anyway. Baseball is a selfish sport by nature.
  5. Yep because Ohman and Eyre are great. Because Gagne is left handed? I don't get it. Besides.. Ohman is good enough to get by with as a loogy. This team has far more pressing needs than a new loogy.
  6. Gagne, Wood, Dempster, Howry, Wuertz, and Marmol from the right side of the pen. Not to mention Petrick, who has been great when he's been up. And the various others who have shown flashes. Has there been a new Petrick added to the roster? The one who has pitched for the Cubs has been horrible, not great. And this is why I shouldn't have lost to raw in the tournament. [-( ;)
  7. To be fair, things can go well and still be going downhill. Personally, though, I think it was Salomon Torres who started Sammy's downward slide, so to speak. He looked like the same old ridiculously good Sammy (rather than the still very productive Sammy of the rest of 2003 and 2004) before that. Sosa was definitely sliding in 2003 before Torres hit him on Easter 2004. Torres may certainly have accelerated that slide, though. Based on what? Sosa in April 2003 .303/.446/.573/1.019 EDIT - Sosa got hit in Easter 2003, not 2004.
  8. That's right. I forgot. You're only allowed to work on one trade at a time. So if they are talking to the Rangers about Gagne, they can't talk about a trade with anybody else. There's no need to waste chips on Gagne. It's not about wasting valuable trade talking time, it's about wasting resources on acquiring him.

  11. And I honestly don't mind it one bit. I'm absolutely giddy like a school girl about the 2007 Bears. I could care less...I'm in full-on baseball mode right now. Meh.. August = dog days. I'll still be watching every Cubs game along the way, but I won't be jacked up about baseball again until closer to September. I always tend to get excited about the upcoming seasons for my teams around camp time (spring training, training camp, etc.)...
  12. Nomar's .820 OPS as our SS in 2004 most definitely helped us. It just didn't keep us from collapsing in the sickest cold streak ever in the final 10 games.
  13. Who cares if Milwaukee gets him? Let them have him, and I hope they give up lots of valuable chips for him. Closers are so overrated.
  14. And I honestly don't mind it one bit. I'm absolutely giddy like a school girl about the 2007 Bears.
  15. If the OPS is equal, the one with the higher OBP is better. That too.
  16. It doesn't make them lies if circumstances changed thereafter. What's true at one time doesn't have to be true at another.
  17. He didnt "make" a rumor. He reported what he heard on the SCORE, chill. What he CLAIMS to have heard on the Score. I don't believe him. You guys can be some real jerks on deadline-day. He isn't coming here making any ridiculous assertions about a trade actually happening. He said he HEARD something on the score about the cubs POSSIBLY making an offer to the reds and he titled the thread appropriately. No reason to be jumping down his throat. christ. How am I being a jerk? I've been listening to the Score since 9:30. There has been no such report. The most recent update made no mention of any such deal. If a deal like this had been discussed on the air to the detail that he's suggesting, there would for damn sure be a mention of it on the update. He made it up. It's pretty obvious. Christ.
  18. Also said that the Cubs might be looking for another bat in the OF...but specific mention of Griffey at all. Lock this up.

  20. I've been listening to the Score...albeit not very closely. I've heard nothing of the sort. But, again, not listening at all closely. I still don't believe he heard this, though.
  21. I've wanted Wilkerson on the Cubs for a LONG time... I'm surprised at how bad he's been in Texas, though.
  22. We're screwed. That is not a guy whose endorsement I want.
  23. :pukel: Cheap 26 year old with an .840 OPS... Why the puke?
  24. wait a minute, is your "source" Len? does Len work in the media office for the Nationals? Maybe?
