  1. It's beyond me why anyone wants the Cubs to go after Gagne. The last thing this team needs to do is give up any of their trading chips for a relief pitcher.
  2. Luckily, lineup order doesn't matter much in terms of runs scored over the course of a season. Get the bats first, worry about where to hit them later.
  3. Can you link me to where this came from? Just wanna read the rest of the article. Sure...it's a blurb at the end of David Haugh's article on Briggs.... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-070731haugh,1,3419593.column?coll=cs-home-headlines Thanks!

  5. By most accounts, Griese has been looking pretty bad. I'm pretty sure he's been singled out as one of the weakest performers in just about each report from camp each day so far. That being the case, it's nice to see Orton taking advantage of it. If Griese is going to wind up being relegated to #3, I'm not sure I even see a reason for him to be on this team.
  6. That last pic is just sick!
  7. Sweet! Thanks, soul!
  8. A great read from the guy who said he'd eat his laptop if the Bears won the NFC North in 2005. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-bearscamp073007&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  9. I'll chime in that I do remember Tim leading the charge, so to speak, hoping for the Cubs to acquire Abreu. He's not really using hindsight.
  10. Whoah, whoah.... did you just completely gloss over Aramis Ramirez? And Karros was on the opening day roster. Lofton and Ramirez was definitely an impact move. Even at the time, when we didn't realize just how much Aramis would flourish.
  11. well so much for pushing us over the top, I guess Hendry would rather settle for being right around .500 and hopeing to make the playoffs instead of making a move to push us over the top. I see your point, but who's to say this roster can't keep pushing to more games over .500? Well the fact that we are getting no production out of C, and below league average at SS, CF, and RF, doesnt really instill alot of confidence. We had our big hot streak, and I think now its more likely to see win 3 lose 2 and vice versa the rest of the way. Win 3, lose 2 = .600 winning percentage. Just sayin... (and yes, I saw the vice-versa) Right and I know you said you seen the vice versa which would make us a .500 team give or take a few. And if you think this team will go .500 the rest of the way with the schedule they have, I think you're sorely mistaken.

  13. well so much for pushing us over the top, I guess Hendry would rather settle for being right around .500 and hopeing to make the playoffs instead of making a move to push us over the top. Team isn't exactly hovering around .500 anymore... Seriously... right now, the team is on pace for 86-87 wins, and I expect that to continue to improve as they continue to distance themselves from that rough start. They're a few wins behind where they should be based on the pythagorean standings. I, in all honesty, with the remaining schedule, see a 90 win team, even without reinforcements. That said, I would really, really like to add a big bat to this team. Otherwise, we'll have to find hope in DLee's recent power surge and see what we can get out of Murton and Floyd.
  14. You're right. That's a joke with unlimited potential.
  15. I miss Prior...I miss starter Wood... I miss Sammy... Hell, I even miss Moises. Hopefully, this year's gonna bring some new memories. But it just won't feel the same without Woody and Prior.
  16. In the words of Slappy the Squirrel, now that's comedy! :D LOL, I wasn't making a joke, though.
  17. Another good one was when the Cubs were down like 5 runs... Cubs got a runner on.. Joe says something to the effect of, "If the Cubs can get a couple more baserunners on, they'll have the tying run on deck."
  18. I don't care what anyone says about him as a ballplayer, good, bad or otherwise... But listening to him call games with Chip made blood come pouring out of my ears. There was a moment during a broadcast when Ricky Gutierrez, just having been referred to by Chip as "G-Man", cracked a big HR, and Carter screams, "FORGET G-MAN, THEY SHOULD CALL HIM H-MAN!!!" ...and there was just dead air in the booth for a little while. My favorite Carter moment was when he asked Jim McMahon how Pete Roselle was.
  19. I highly, highly doubt this. I'd be extremely surprised if they played as poorly as .500 ball the rest of the way, much less under .500. The schedule doesn't get any harder than it has been.
  20. I have little to add other than that I have a hard time not classifying someone who posted a career .306 OBP and who had an OBP in the .330's in his career years as terrible. I suppose his power numbers put him somewhere just above that level, though. Still, I'd bet there are a lot of guys who, if given enough PA's, have enough power to hit a lot of HR's while being otherwise terrible at the plate, too.
  21. That took all of one post to completely derail. How is it derailing? The topic of the thread is what you'd do, and Vance answered what he'd do. DKWG has been trolling all the transactions posts looking to pounce on any Dunn reference. He actually had me pegged as a Dunn "fanboy" in another thread.
  22. LOL.. they asked Urlacher about the big talk coming out of Detroit again this year, and he brought up how they "almost scored 40" against us last year. Almost forgot about that.
  23. For anyone who has Sirius, NFL radio is at Bears camp today. Just a heads up.
