  1. I like how he groups Rock Shoulders with Baez, Almora, and Soler. Also, he uses Jake Fox and Bryan LaHair as support for the argument that these prospects may not pan out.
  2. Yeah, I'm planning on heading out to Kane County tomorrow as well. I was initially disappointed to miss Johnson, but now I'm just worried that they'll even get the game in at all. The forecast is calling for storms off and on all day.
  3. you've got to be kidding me.
  4. Nobody's persecuting anyone. My assumption is that there have been discussions about a split for some time now and both sides are having problems coming to agreement. At this point, it's clear that the relationship is at an end, and it's simply unfair on their part not to let him go. On the other hand, it's unrealistic on his part to feel as though they should let him go and pay all or even most of his salary. By now, even if teams are intersted in him they're not going to part with anything of remote value. It's kind of like a miserable married couple staying together for the kids; in this case, there are 2 million of them. what the hell? it absolutely is not. what a ridiculous thing to say.
  5. ah, thanks. forgot to update PA to include tonight's in my OBP calculation.
  6. Up to .288/.340/.555/.895 after that last one if my math is correct.
  7. It would be so great to add a top prospect at catcher to this system next June.
  8. So, who are some names to keep an eye on at 75 tomorrow?
  9. Well, that, and the idea there's only three players there doing anything. But DeJesus, Schierholtz, Wood, Villanueva, Jackson, Castillo, Valbuena, Soriano, Barney, Russell, and Rondon don't count. Not sure why though. But they don't. It is what it is. Until those players are turned into quality ML players, which is what you're implying, the roster doesn't help Sveum's job. At the very least, DeJesus, Jackson, Soriano, Barney and Russell are all quality big league players. Not impact guys, but definitely quality players. I'd throw Villanueva into that group as well.
  10. he had a pretty epic 9th inning home run against the marlins for us in 2008(?) Yup, off of Kevin Gregg.
  11. Matt Spaeth released per Jeff Dickerson.
  12. Neither is Boozer. yes, he is Yeah, not sure why those two were tripping over each other to make Boozer out to be some kind of basketball monster. Eh, I actually really like what Boozer brings to the team and think the constant criticism of him is pretty off base. He's flawed defensively, but that's normally covered up pretty well by the rest of the team. My post was meant to be more of a comment on how terrible Bargnani is.
  13. Neither is Boozer. At least Bargnani can open up the floor for Rose when he comes back. It's a big-time gamble though, given the chemistry of this team and the fact that Bargnani is viewed as not very motivated. Boozer is easily a better player than Bargnani, and that's not meant as praise of Boozer by any means. Bargnani isn't even that good at the thing people say he is good at. He's shot 32% from behind the three-point line over the last three seasons. How much is that going to open the floor?
  14. Yeah, Bargnani really isn't good. I don't see the point of targeting him.
  15. Yeah, what a disaster it would have been to have Pedro Martinez on your team from his age 27-33 seasons. Yup. Pedro had a 188 ERA+, 1640/289 SO/BB, and was worth 52 bWAR in over that span. Hamptonish?
  16. It looks like it's replaying on BTN at 3 PM Friday.
  17. sure, but soriano was one of the cubs' more productive players last year, and unless i'm mistaken, the indians farm system isn't very good. i guess i'd prefer to wait and make sure we're getting something worthwhile, as there's not a pressing need to get rid of him.
  18. i don't understand why this is exciting without knowing any other details.
