  2. Great idea! Cubs get... Robinson Cano Astros get.... ...nevermind. whaaa?? It was the beginning of a B2B 3-way trade. :( I got this: Cubs - Cano Astros - Barney Mariners - Shark, Castro Money \:D/
  3. It's gonna be hard to do with all that elite talent in the WS organization that's all the rage in Arizona How does their farm system compare to the Cubs? the previous game, Hawk and Stone were saying it was fairly equal. You're kidding right? I mean, they weren't actually saying that, were they? The Sox system has been slowly improving, but I've been seeing it ranked in the 20-25 range, due to some interesting talent in the lowest levels of their system. Even that's being generous. They have one of the five worst systems in baseball. Yeah, I thought most people had them lower, but Parks had them at 21.

  5. The original statement was that Noah is "not even close" to the player that Wallace was. My point was that he absolutely is. I have no problem with the comparison, but acting like Wallace is in some whole other league than Noah is silly.
  6. He's played in 4 less games than Noah through the first 7 years of their careers. He was an embarrassment on offense and he maintained his status as an elite defensive player for a pretty short time. Even when his defense was elite, he gave much of that back on the other end of the court.
  7. Yeah, but if you ignore the first five years and the last six years of Wallace's career, and also his offense for his whole career, he's definitely a Hall of Famer and Noah is nowhere near him.
  8. You have no idea how they determine the probabilities and yet you're certain they mean absolutely nothing? Ben Wallace was an above average, never elite, player for about 5 years. He is not going to get Hall of Fame consideration. If you run a comparison through the first seven years of Noah and Wallace's careers, Noah comes out looking a little bit better overall. It's not an easy comparison because they're entirely different players, but I for one much prefer Noah's skillset to Wallace's.
  9. How is Ben Wallace a HoFer? He's not. He's so assuredly not that Basketball-Reference doesn't even bother to put him on their Hall of Fame Probably list, which extends far enough down to include such greats as Mookie Blaylock and Byron Scott. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/hof_prob.html
  10. There's absolutely no way Ben Wallace ever gets into the Hall of Fame. He was a black hole on offense his entire career and his peak was about 5 years long. Outside of those years, he was very ordinary.
  11. Didn't Emery say yesterday (after he signed Mundy and Jennings) that they would still be looking at free agent safeties?
  12. Rodan. http://proxy.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1748038&src=mobile
  13. So how hilariously wrong was this? I mean, if we want to really give him the benefit of the doubt, that did come before Baez played his full senior season, so maybe his opinion would have changed. But it's a good reminder of how much can change with draft reports, especially for high schoolers. Maybe a learning experience to trust McLeod? Makes me maybe kinda ok with a Jackson pick if we do eventually end up with him. McLeod didn't select Baez.
  14. I completely forgot Trey McNutt is still in the organization.
  15. i was listening to a podcast or maybe just the radio? a little while ago and they were basically saying MSU's messed up their next few seasons fooling around with Chicago (J Parker, C Alexander), saying area kids just want to get paid, either directly (UK) or indirectly (KU, Duke?) and UM has been better served abandoning that avenue altogether since dabbling with Patrick Beverley forever ago lol, that's such sour grapes. Every fan base does it when they don't get the kids they want. Oddly enough, no one ever can produce any actual evidence. And the idea that any school is "directly" paying anyone is lunacy. I don't deny that there's all sorts of dirty stuff happening everywhere, in every program. But no program is dumb enough to "directly" pay a player. UK has to pay kids least of all. Nothing's cooler than going to Kentucky. And ever since LeBron and co banded together in Miami, forming dream teams is pretty popular too. Yet, Self is right with UK on the recruiting trail since Jerrance and his uncle Wes got into the fold. This after everyone in the KC area was starting to wonder about Self's recruiting a few years back. I think it's clear that if you are in good with WWW you are going to recruit like gang busters. Whole lot of good that did Illinois.
  16. Yes, if you're willing to write off a bunch of young, talented players that either haven't played a full professional season or haven't been drafted yet, and also if you think they are going to do absolutely nothing with all that salary cap room, I can definitely see how you'd think they are destined to be terrible.
  17. In the East, they definitely wouldn't.
  18. Wait, why are they picking Smart and Exum? Are we just assuming they have no interest in Wiggins, Embiid, Randle or Parker? His hypothetical has them picking Parker and one of Smart or Exum.
  19. This is not even close to being true.
  20. I remember reading some Santo autobiography when I was around 13 or 14 and he had me absolutely convinced that if Hubbs hadn't died, the Cubs would have won World Series after World Series. Also, this post led me to pull up the 1969 Cubs Fangraphs page and holy [expletive] their top three starters had WARs of 9.1, 7.5 & 5.9.
  21. How? is he batting third also? In case anybody had any doubt left. hahahaha
  22. Was just about to come back and post the next 4 after actually reading his overview. So, he really values ceiling, huh?
  23. Uhh, Law has Corey Black at #9 in the Cubs system.
