Some of the remaining FA are talking about holding their own spring training together. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk Kinda hard to say something like this when the Cubs and Astros have won the last two World Series doing exactly this. and being terrible netted the nationals harper and strasburg.

As mentioned on the last page, Ross came after Lester was signed. This is true but we were rumored to be interested in Ross before signing Lester and the thought was that it was to lure Jon to the Cubs (or was a condition he had to sign). I remember the board thinking that we didn't need to sign Ross now that we've got Lester (since we already had Welly and Montero signed). i think all it does is free montgomery to play the swing role again and make spot starts without relying solely on wilson for left-handed relief when monty is starting. I think if The Cubs get Darvish or bring back Jake Montgomery is traded. who is the sixth starter in that case?
