  1. I'll take Theriot over Izturis any day of the week. Izturis is a wizard with the glove. He can't hit a lick though. Theriot is average defensively at 2B. I haven't seen him at SS, but I doubt he has the range to be ML average at that position. I love that he can take a walk, but if he starts struggling at the plate, which is very likely IMO...Izturis is the better option. Izturis hits like Neifi and fields like a god. Personally, I like watching him and pitchers love him. Actually, Theriot is a plus defender at 2B, and came up as a SS, where he would still be at least adequate.
  2. Because you don't fight with your supervisors, you've never called for a suicide squeeze in Game 7 of the World Series and you're not Lou Piniella.
  3. Addai's first name is Joseph. I'd go with Jones and Taylor.
  4. Hopefully you're done. Because everything you just said is not even close to being true. Oh cripes, look it up for yourself. Link 9th in the AL, and middle of the pack in MLB with the benefit of the DH. I thought you were done? Btw, the Whitesox had the best offense in MLB this year, and where did that get them? I'm done debating whether or not sac bunting is wasteful or not, but when you try to call me a liar, I'm going to prove you wrong. And your second point doesn't make any sense. Did the difference between 9 sacrifice hits(53 in '05, 44 in '06) make the difference this year? What point are you making?
  5. 2005 Whitesox. Worked out pretty well for them . The '05 White Sox were a below average offense. Okay, now I'm done, I mean it. Hopefully you're done. 7. In many situations, it's also called wasteful baseball. Not true at all. No, it's right, but I'm not about to get into it about sac bunts, partially because every managerial prospect is going to be dumb with something like that, whether it be excessive sac bunts and hit & runs, lineup decisions, or decisions about playing time. Get a manager who understands that starting pitchers need not be pitched to failure every time out, that's the most important thing to me.

  9. Can't the two co-exist. A nice blend of young player and veterans. The Twins have a nice model. The Twins have a superior farm system.
  10. Because Ozzie has an intimate knowledge of who his rivals are considering for the job?
  11. McNabb goes absolutely bonkers and makes Vance the tough luck loser. Tobias gets his first win by thrashing IMB, Raw holds off Burnt in a battle of winless teams, and Roast and O_O stay unbeaten as well. 3 teams at 4-0 now and everyone else at least 2 games back. Big matchup this week with O_O and Roast going at it, too bad for Roast he'll be without Vick and Dunn.
  12. This is fantastic news. I'm not entirely sure that you arent being sarcastic, but assuming you're serious, I agree. I would much rather a manager pull starters too early than too late. And it doesnt seem like the Marlins had an incredibly deep bullpen so I dont know how much stock to put into that argument. No doubt, getting a manager who doesn't abuse starters is the one thing that I care about above anything else in our new manager.
  13. Dusty just set a Cubs hat on fire and threw it into the crowd of reporters. Beats a flaming bag of poo if you're a reporter [insert most predictable Billy Madison joke ever here]
  14. Overspending for mediocre players who become untradeable because of their contracts? But that's not a function of having more money, it's a function of being stupid.
  15. Dusty just set a Cubs hat on fire and threw it into the crowd of reporters.
  16. I'm not seeing how it could be bad.
  17. I'm glad that if only 2 of the three are gone, that it's the two that have already gone. At the very least Hendry has shown an ability to change philosophies(although recently he's changed them to more and more krazy ideas), Dusty's not going to stop abusing pitchers and MacPhail hasn't shown any ability to shift focus either.
  18. You think the M's will pony up the money for Daisuke and Schmidt? Honestly, no. But given all the things in their favor in terms of the Japanese players signing with them (and the fact that Schmidt isn't a slam dunk Mariner signing), I think they have to be in the top 2 or 3 (add Baltimore, I guess). That wasn't really a fair question on my part either. I was trying to point out that many people are viewing Daisuke and Schmidt as non-Cubs because of rumors of them going to Seattle, but it's highly unlikely both end up there.

  20. I don't see our offense having too many problems with the TT defense, but I'm interested in seeing how our defense will do. We looked subpar last week, and DB Domonique Johnson is out for the year with a torn ACL. It should be a battle. Mizzou is up to #23 in the AP and #25 in the Coaches Poll. After seeing last night's game, if we can iron out our TO problem, I'd say we're just as good as anyone in the Big XII north. I feel confident we'll beat Mizzou again. I don't think that D can stop Cornish. But I may have just caught Mizzou on a sub-par day defensively. I'll check 'em out this weekend, get a better look hopefully. We'll see how my newfound confidence looks after what should be a tough game against T A&M. Is the game in College Station? You probably won't get many answers on Mizzou's run D by watching Saturday's game. Pat Forde said it best, "Leach is well on his way to a seventh winning season in seven tries by throwing first, last and always." Mizzou's matchup with aTm would probably prove more insightful.
  21. Well, I need 4 McNabb TD's plus some yardage to even it up. At least there's hope playing the Pack.
  22. Yes, debated by all of us, the true experts. That's a ridiculous comment, IMO: the fact that something is being debated means that the debate is warranted? That's interesting logic. I know people who would debate you to the end that the Earth is actually flat. Point is, in terms of production relative to salary, Jones was very good this year. So are you saying that the debate is irrational or isn't warranted? Jones had the second best season of his career, yet he still had a mediocre OBP and couldn't hit LHP to save his life. Is it possible for Jones to put up an OPS 40 points better than his career average(which includes this year) again at 32 and 33? I wouldn't bet on it, and that's the point. When Jones puts up an okay season as likely the best of the contract, then it's not a very good contract at all.
