  1. FWIW, according to the Fielding Bible, Sheffield is far and away the worst defensive RF in baseball. His +- was something like -38 the past 3 years and the next worst was like -16
  2. Word. We rocked Harrell's world in the second half. The offense was very steady too, and did a great job of grinding the clock down near the end.
  3. Daniel needs to stop underthrowing the deep ball. That's how he has almost all of his picks this year. I'll definitely take a 10 point advantage at half, and I still have confidence in the offense to move the ball. Need to get a stop out of halftime though to reassert control.
  4. That really sounds like a guy that is reckless with young arms. Don't let the facts get in the way. The fact is he let a guy pitch after an hour and change rain delay. To me what is even more damaging is that he's seen this happen before when he was a player. He was catching Leiber when Baylor sent him out after the rain delay. Learning from past mistakes is a good thing. Repeating them is a bad thing. Starting pitchers come back all the time after rain delays with no ill effects. A lot of things go into that decision. It's not some general rule. People aren't numbers. No they don't generally come back after an 82 minute rain delay. When a manger does that sort of thing it's just plain foolish. You're taking one incident and extrapolating it to Girardi's entire philosophy.
  5. OU takes a 10-7 lead on Texas going to half.
  6. Cmon Fightin' Friedgens, beat Georgia Tech
  7. Murton had a 106 rate, and midway through the season Count the Rings had him on pace to be 7 runs above average over the course of the season.
  8. At least the schedule is light the rest of the way. Aside from the trip to Columbia(and even that's a rivalry game), there's no game left on the schedule that I'd think "oh they'd better play real well or they're going to lose".
  9. Juan and "piss poor player choices" are not exclusive.
  10. plz injure him for next week
  11. Awesome play by Arkansas
  12. Corso picked us, Herbstreit picked Tech 6 PM can't come fast enough Should be interesting. Missouri is allowing the 10th fewest passing ypg while Tech gains the third most. Somethings gotta give. I picked Missouri. I hope it works out like last week, when you picked Mizzou and Herbstreit went with Colorado. Bad news is that it's Tech's homecoming, and they've only lost 2 home games since 2002(in '04 to 11-1 Texas, and in '03 to 12-2 Oklahoma). Need the pass rush to be very disruptive, I want a breakout game from Sulak, he's been too quiet this year.
  13. That Arkansas RB just ripped through the defense there. Wow.
  14. So you expect a guy with a mediocre career minor league OBP to improve upon that OBP in his rookie season? Yes, Edmonds is going to keep declining. Do you not understand the idea of aging ballplayers? Do you think all these injuries have been faked? do you understand that aging ballplayers are capable of good seasons? do you understand the concept of the 1 year deal? goodness gracious, goony, i'm not talking about signing this guy long term. relax. Do you understand what a complete wreck Edmonds is right now? He's a shell of his former self. so is derrek lee. so is anyone who's been hurt without a history of a previous major injury. if he's been playing hurt he's capable of playing hurt a lot better than juan pierre is capable of playing injury-free. like i said, let's not sign him long term, but the production level he's at right now, as a wreck, is still better than the alternatives. wow, you'd think i was talking about re-signing willie wilson or something. There's a difference between Derrek Lee breaking a bone, and Jim Edmonds getting concussions and needing cortisone shots for various other ailments. I don't see how you can assume he'll return to his production level, because down the stretch he certainly wasn't at it, when he actually did play.

  17. Considering he had a LD% around 22%, I'd say most definitely.
  18. I'm too tired to form a coherent opinion, but anything that puts someone over Jeter I give my full endorsement to.
  19. As far as the leagues the Cubs are in, generally speaking: the Pacific Coast League(PCL) that Iowa plays in favors hitters the Southern League(SL) that West Tenn plays in favors pitchers the Florida State League(FSL) that Daytona plays in favors pitchers the Midwest League(MWL) that Peoria plays in favors hitters Out of those, I'd guess that the SL is the strongest towards one extreme, and the MWL is closest to the middle.
  20. Georgia is crazy overrated.
  21. You bought the house of Sabrina the Teenage Witch!
  22. Why? In some cases, it pretty much sums up the issue rather well. No, it never does.
