  1. Andy's replacement needs to be brought in very very soon(like before the end of playoffs) if Hendry is going to be fired.
  2. Oregon deserves to move up at least 6 spots for beating a team ranked at least 5 spots behind them? No way.
  3. I thought of that, and then I heard "Gary Hughes" and "new GM" in my mind and wanted to weep.
  4. FWIW, Mizzou-Texas Tech will be on TBS. I'm real excited for it, I think our defense matches up better with a really heavy passing team like Tech than a run heavy attack. I'm looking forward to a shootout, hopefully it's Daniel throwing all the TD passes.
  5. How's everyone faring this week? I'm up a couple on Vance with 4 players left(McNabb one of them) while Vance has 3. Lots of interest in the Dallas game. EDIT: I'm down a couple after the Deuce TD
  6. Craig Wilson, current Yankee and longtime Pirate. Also, Play Pie.
  7. It's not his age at the level that determines if you will regress, it sets a level of where he will likely perform. It's obvious Theriot isn't going to put up a .900 OPS forever, so how far will he fall? Using his career numbers when he's several years old for his level as a baseline is deceiving and inaccurate(think of the numbers of Calvin Murray and other AAA retreads for an extreme example). Expecting Theriot to reproduce his minor league career is unlikely because he's been old for his level, especially in his first full season.
  8. How so? If you actually take the time to compare Hart's numbers to Theriot's they aren't very similar at all. How do you get from stats that aren't similar to a "very, very apt" comparison? Guys who were two years old for their league that came up and hit out of their minds in their initial Major League time. Hart's minor league numbers were even worse than Theriot's, so when he regressed he couldn't make a Major League roster. Similarly, when Theriot regresses he in all likelihood will find himself in a bench role.
  9. How so? Cause now the Cubs might consider Theriot as the starting 2B. That's risky, since Theriot doesn't even have one major league season under his belt and he's putting up numbers in the majors that he's never put up int he minors. But if Theriot sucked, the Cubs might go out and spend for a major FA like Soriano. There are no question marks with Soriano. I'm not saying that Theriot won't be a good 2B next season, I'm just saying it's risky. Actually its not as risky as you might think. For three years running, Theriot has put up an OBP in the mid-.360s in the minors. He hit .273 in '04, and .304 in each of the last two seasons. No one here or in the Cubs front office is expecting him to reproduce his numbers since joining the Cubs. You don't have to worry about that. But expecting him to have an OBP above .350, to hit around .300 and to steal about 40 bases in a full season is a fairly safe bet, not a risky one. Expecting Theriot to hit .300/.350 is extremely risky. Theriot was several years older than the levels he was at, the Bo Hart comparison is very, very apt.
  10. Nebraska surrenders the lead but wins in OT, 39-32. Nebraska and Mizzou are the only two North teams that start 1-0 in the conference, and Mizzou is the only Big 12 school still undefeated. Georgia scores a TD to make it 7-3, Ole Miss threatening with under 9 left in the 3rd
  11. Nebraska answers with a 75 yard TD pass, 32-25 Huskers The 3-0 Ole Miss-UGA score stays that way to the half
  12. Wazzou with the ball at their own 23, down 28-22 with a little over a minute to go... Nail in the coffin means something different in Venezuela.
  13. holy cow kU with a TD to take the lead, 6:30 left Ole Miss blocks a Georgia punt to get 1st and goal, but only gets a field goal
  14. USC with a TD drive that puts the nail in the coffin for WSU. Iowa State gets a last minute TD drive to beat Northern Iowa 28-27. kU down 5 in Lincoln early in the 4th, and Baylor still leads KSU by 14. Ole Miss hanging with Georgia in Oxford, scoreless midway through the 2nd.
  15. http://www.msu.edu/~huizing7/slapjls.gif
  16. kU showing signs of life, only down 24-16 now to Nebraska. In other Big 12 scores, Iowa State is tied with Northern Iowa in the 4th quarter, and Baylor leads K-State 17-3 near the end of the 3rd. Oh, and Texas is throttling Sam Houston State(apparently they have a football team too)
  17. No joke, I  ed
  18. Yeah, I was curious whay the Mizzou people thought. I watched the first half, and I was totally unimpressed by the MU defense. I understand there were some controversial calls in the 2nd half that screwed CU, too? Still, a win's a win. The A&M game could be good. Only 40 minutes till Neb tries to avenge the pasting KU gave them last year. I have to say, I don't like our chances at all. I don't know what controversial calls they could be talking about, except for the one play where CU picked off Daniel and he was ruled out of bounds, but Hawkins challenged and it was upheld. If anything, Mizzou had a beef with the strange posession Cubbies75 mentioned, where Daniel's facemask was grabbed as he threw with no call, and then not calling the offsides on 3rd down. Speaking of Hawkins, he wins the dunce award for the day for repeatedly going away from the run when that's how they were gaining yards, that challenge, and going for it 3 different times on fourth down. Mizzou's defense wasn't all that great in the first half, but they kept CU out of the end zone and were much better in the second half(I consider the 70 yard pass play on the first play of the half to still be the first half). Colorado still hasn't scored more than 13 points in a game all year.
  19. Looks like Ohio State and West Virginia at 11
  20. I guess Mark Loretta, Mark Grudzelaniek, and Placido Polanco should have all been bench players too then. Good thing they were given a chance to prove that minor league stats don't tell you everything. They all put up similar minor league numbers to Theriot, and then went on to become successful everyday players in the big leagues for the last decade. Theriot might be one of those guys, he might not. But to write him off right now and say that he won't because he hasn't been given the chance is pretty foolish. Loretta broke into the big leagues a year plus younger and had a better milb OPS than Theriot by 40 points. Polanco was 4-5 years younger than Theriot when he made the big leagues. But even then, exceptions don't disprove the rule.
  21. how do you drop that?
