Tulowitzki?? If you look at the defensive metrics like FRAR, Tulo in 2007 had one of the best seasons of all time defensively at SS. In fact, only ONCE (1985) did Ozzie Smith have a better year than Tulo's 2007 according to FRAR. I know it's the only way to make historical comparisons and such, but FRAR is really bad. -
I wonder if it's possible to cultivate something similar to a college athletics attitude towards it. People are still rabid about college sports even though the best players leave(sometimes before they needed to) to play at the best level.

Out of curiosity, is this consistent with his career ratings? I remember being told that Greene was the best defensive SS in baseball last offseason. Is there a reason beyond baseball for his dropoff across the board last season? By PMR, Greene was 106.02 for 4th out of 37 SS in 2006, 99.28 for 21st of 39 in 2007(Theriot was 20th at 99.32), and 94.64 for 35th of 39 in 2008(Theriot was 24th at 100.17).

I think that's what's really being lost here. Any discussion of Mizzou is shameful. It's technically hate week right now, I don't want to have to go to the football thread and ask you whether you're going to make the Insight Bowl or not.

why would you trade veal for lifetime .248 hitter who hit .213 last year, dont we have Cedeno already? I understand why people think Greene is an upgrade over Theriot, i hate theriot and i still think he's better than Greene. If you are going to look for an upgrade over theriot, than think about Furcal, Renteria, Tejada, Philips, etc before thinking about Greene. Theriot is not better than Greene. There's no reason to think he's not at this point.

PMR has Greene as the 5th worst defensive SS in the game last year, rating 94.64(100 is average). Theriot was 24th of the 39 at 100.17.

Also, Gary Pinkel is about to get an extension. The thought of him going to Washington was more hope on Husky fans part than anything else, but this should put to bed any Pinkel to School X rumors. Link

Any NCAA Football game. Me and a couple buddies used to make a bracket of all 116 or whatever many teams there were and play it out. I won it one year with Iowa running a hurry up option with Brad Banks.

Read Soccer's last post. It's possible if two non-winners from the same conference are 1-2. Less than 1% chance of it happening in the Big 12 this year like I said before, but possible nonetheless.

15 of 31 from the line, brutal. I don't mind losing this game, but it hurts that our next two opponents are now going to be Fairfield and Seton Hall instead of Virginia Tech and Memphis/USC.

Kind of disagree with this simply because of how much the North sucks. It won't happen anyways unless Texas Tech runs the table then loses the Big XII Title. Plus Florida would need to lose again, then beat Alabama in the SEC Champ Game. Even if that happened, you'd have 3 1-loss teams without a conference title(Bama, TT, Texas), a conference champ with 2 losses(Florida), and a couple conference champs with 1 loss(Penn State, USC). The odds of the two Big 12 teams out of those 7 being 1-2(especially with Tech losing their most recent game) is essentially zero. You'd need an absolute mayhem situation, with USC, Penn State, Bama, and Florida all losing before the SEC title game, then Florida winning the SEC title along with Tech getting their first loss in the B12 title game. Then Tech and Texas are the only power conference schools with only 1 loss, and even then I wonder if the polls would have Mizzou in front of Tech by that point given the madness that would allow Mizzou to move up in the preceding 2 weeks.

I don't think there's a difference between DeJesus and Kosuke, and I don't really want two of them in the OF, even if one platoons with Johnson.

Mizzou will go as far as their newcomers will take them. If 2 of their guards are having a strong shooting/offensive day, they can beat Illinois. That game will be the first hostile-type environment for all the freshmen, so they could also make a bunch of dumb mistakes and push a winnable game out of reach.

Mizzou used a big second half to throttle Chattanooga 103-75(to compare, Tennessee beat Chattanooga 114-75). First big test of the year coming up with a trip to Puerto Rico. They'll play Xavier, and potentially Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Memphis, or USC.

So Hendry's incompetence includes his inability to flood the free agent pool with quality players? I assume he means in terms of positions already being filled. Which doesn't really make a lot of sense either since with very few exceptions those positions are filled with good players who just helped them win nearly 100 games.
