The recruiting expert at KU's Scout site thinks Mizzou will be decent this year, a tourney team. I guess that's possible, but it's going to take a lot of newcomers really adapting well. Fortunately, I think Mizzou has a legitimate chance of winning every game on their schedule, unlike last year.

The justification for ranking Colvin ahead of Castillo in any manner aside from "how well they hit left handed" is a mystery to me.

Remember what position he plays. Escobar: .288/.366/.401/.766 Theriot: .307 .387 .359 .745 Personally, I think Escobar is being overrated just a little bit in talks with the Padres. I mean he is a solid player with potential to get better, but the only thing he has on Theriot is he he hits for slightly more power. So while Escobar might be the best known player in the deal, IDK if I would call him (I prolly would be it wouldn't be without thought) the best talent being offer between the Cubs and the Braves. Even with Escobar in the deal IDK if there deal is more attract then the Cubs unless it included Tommy Hanson. Escobar has the same IsoD and a far, far better IsoP than Theriot, is a superior fielder, and is 3 years younger. He's a much more attractive player in trade.

That's pretty a pretty underwhelming package for Olsen and Willingham.

Those outputs are not comparable to the elite B12 offenses, I already showed that. That's quite an exaggeration. FSU scored at least as many points in 4 other games, including Miami and Clemson. Miami did it 3 other times, including FSU. 3 times within 1 score for VTech, including FSU and BC.

We're talking about the #3, #6, #11 and #12 offense in the ACC (that averages to #8) against the #5, #6, #9 and #11 defenses in the Big XII (that also averages to #8). So we've got basically a fair sample in that respect. There's doing well in those games, and there's doing alarmingly well. In fact, those four teams had their BEST games in those four games as far as offensive efficiency goes. THEIR BEST! Sure it's only four games, but it's pretty damn alarming and that is all we got. It's just noteworthy that an average ACC offense has shown the ability to put up points at an elite level against an average Big XII defense. That's not good. In a sport where we have very few direct overlapping of elite teams, things like this become very important. Again, I'm not making the argument that the offenses are as good as the Big XII offenses. I am merely making the argument that the Big XII is a very offensive friendly environment by virtue of their bad defenses. We need to account for this. The relationship isn't linear, and I am making that point too because I am really not downgrading Texas Tech, Missouri at all. This cuts both ways, and it makes the argument pretty pointless. Colorado's output against FSU is matched only by their performance against Iowa State or their two awful non-con games. Same thing with Nebraska and Virginia Tech. Same with Texas and Arkansas, same with Oklahoma and Washington. It's the type of conclusion based on so little data and so little common sense that the only way you logically come to it is if you were looking for it in the first place.

Of course they were going to do well in those games. It's like saying the Big 12 is going to dominate the bowl season because they hung a ton of points in Texas v. Arkansas, Mizzou v. Illinois, Oklahoma v. Washington, and Oklahoma State v. Washington State.

The whole copycat thing was weird too. The Cubs weren't a top heavy offense, they were probably the most balanced in baseball. And they weren't a bunch stiffs either, especially in RF. 150 million would be very nice. As long as you traded Marquis, you could easily fit Peavy, Dempster, and Wood. Or Peavy, Wood, Furcal. Or Dempster, Hermida, Olsen, Wood(you probably don't need to lose Marquis' salary for this one, but he has no place to play). Or Peavy, Wood, trade Lee, Teixeira. You get the idea.

maclin, crabtree ... who am i missing? I'd put Bryant in that top 3. I'm not saying I'd for sure do it, but Cosby, Iglesias, and maybe someone like Briscoe, Josh Smith, Shipley, or Alexander(homer!) could make that argument. The main point is that Crabtree is far and away the best.

Crabtree is worlds better than Dez Bryant. You could arguably leave Bryant off a list of the Top 5 receivers in the Big 12. And tonight cemented my hatred for Ron Prince, I hope he never gets a job again. Two consecutive trips to Columbia he has needlessly extended the game in miserable weather after both teams had conceded the outcome. Mizzou had just run the ball on 4th and 12 from the KSU 13 with their third string QB in. KSU had a long run for a TD(which of course is fine), then did a surprise onside kick(lame) and called timeout when they got inside the red zone with 30 seconds left down 24 points with their backup QB in. We've talked about the Coors hangover effect before, but I'm still curious to see what Holliday does on a different team. I was shocked at how bad his minor league numbers were when I looked them up the other day, something like a career .775 OPS at age appropriate levels.

Out of all the crappy Big 12 matchups this week(OU/aTm, UT/Baylor, ISU/CU, Mizzou/KSU), I can't believe the one game that doesn't get televised is Kansas/Nebraska. Nebraska leads 31-28 after a KU TD with 10 mins to play. Please win fightin' Pelinis.

Auburn is tied with Tennessee-Martin midway through the 3rd quarter. No wonder that Tennessee-Auburn game set football back a decade.
