  1. What complete nonsense. Why? The steroid era was a joke and make a mockey of the game and it's records. Well, first of all, no it didn't. Secondly, "it's nuances and subtleties blasted away by the naked obsession with power" is what I said before, complete nonsense. What nuances and subtleties were ruined? It's romantical tripe yearning for something to return that never went away, or even worse, never existed.
  2. Georgia Tech giving FSU a serious run. Down 1 with the ball and 1:12 to play.
  3. Seems kinda unnecessary to have a whole row for people without legs.
  4. Oklahoma is going to under perform their seed. They have no idea what to do when they take a shot from an opponent.
  5. No one wants a 1 seed. West Virginia is leading Pitt and Oklahoma State is leading OU in the second halves of their games.
  6. That's interesting that there wasn't a single North v. North matchup. Surprising results though, considering the North and South went 18-18 against each other.
  7. Apologies if this is way off, I had to put this together kinda quickly since I won't be around much this evening. Arizona State BYU Texas Purdue West Virginia Butler BYU Marquette LSU Tennessee Oklahoma State California Michigan Texas A&M Wisconsin Boston College Utah Cleveland St. Siena VCU Northern Iowa Western Kentucky ND State Portland St. Cornell Robert Morris East Tenn St. Radford Morehead St. Chattanooga
  8. I know you've said it doesn't matter as much to you, but to me that slightly better record against the top 50 is tempered by Kansas having the worst slate of "bad losses". Plus, with the stipulation from my last post, Mizzou would have 2 more top 50 games(OU/OSU and Texas/KSU unless Baylor pulls it off), Villanova is beating a top 50 team right now(though they'll likely lose to Louisville), and UCLA and Washington would have Top-50 semis opponents before meeting in the finals.
  9. This Villanova/Marquette game is getting annoying. Every possession is either a perimeter jumper or someone pulling up in the lane because 3 defenders step up to take a charge.
  10. Using Sagarin for convenience. Kansas: 25-7, 45 SOS, 3-3 v. Top 25, 9-4 v. Top 50, 9-3 L12, Best wins: Mizzou, @Oklahoma(sans Griffin), v. Washington; Worst Losses: v. UMass, @Texas Tech, v. Baylor Villanova(in progress v. Marquette): 25-6, 50 SOS, 4-4 v. Top 25, 5-6 v. Top 50, 10-2 L12, Best wins: Pitt, swept Syracuse, Marquette; Worst Losses: Georgetown, @West Virginia, v. Texas Washington: 24-7, 30 SOS, 3-4 v. Top 25, 7-6 v. Top 50, 9-3 L12, Best wins: UCLA, @Arizona St., Arizona St.; Worst Losses: @Portland, v. Florida, v. Cal Mizzou: 25-6, 72 SOS, 3-3 v. Top 25, 7-5 v. Top 50, 9-3 L12, Best wins: Kansas, Oklahoma(w/ Griffin), @Texas; Worst Losses: @Nebraska, @Kansas State, @Texas A&M UCLA: 24-7, 48 SOS, 3-3 v. Top 25, 7-6 v. Top 50, 9-3 L12, Best wins: Washington, swept Cal, swept USC; Worst Losses: Washington St., v. Michigan, @Arizona I don't think there's a whole lot of separation there. If Mizzou beats OU again, and the other 3 play to their tourney seeds, I think you could be justified putting any of those 4 in front of Kansas.
  11. I think Kansas is closer to a 4 right now. I think you have to move them towards the bottom of the 3's and allow other teams to play their way past them.
  12. Just pray they don't draw Binghamton.
  13. The finish in the NEC Championship was great as well.
  14. What just cause they don't run an offense or play much of a defense? Also, they have ugly uniforms.
  15. I'm starting to see why DePaul didn't win any Big East games.
  16. 17 minutes from the quarterfinals, awesome.
  17. Woo CSU! In major conference tourney news, BP has Pomeroy's conference tournament probabilities up here. Indiana has a 0.3% chance of winning the Big Ten tourney, which is apparently better than Iowa State and Colorado, who have a statistically insignificant chance of winning the Big 12.
  18. Rule 5 Lefty He's done real well so far this spring. 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 6/0 K/BB
  19. Even if you think Fukudome is going to continue to be awful, there's no reason to put Theriot in the second spot over Fontenot against RHP(which is really what we're talking about, since Fontenot and Fukudome won't be playing against LHP). V. RHP Theriot 2008: .308/.379/.355/.734 Theriot career: .286/.350/.351/.702 Fontenot 2008: .302/.393/.518/.911 Fontenot career: .298/.379/.473/.852 Fontenot is projected to be a better hitter by every projection system as well. Plus, considering Soriano and Lee are pretty entrenched at 1st and 3rd in the order, it breaks up R-L-R like Lou loves so much. Against LHP, Theriot and Johnson are both capable options, and you can probably justify either of them hitting 2nd with the other hitting 7th.
  20. Xavier Florida St. Illinois Gonzaga
  21. Gonzaga has the 31st but is in the S-Curve.
  22. I know stuff has happened since then, but there were a lot of people who thought Heilman was a great trade target a year or so ago. He's got good stuff and was a 1st round pick. It's weird that he went so quickly from sleeper pitcher we should go after to mediocre junk that we got saddled with.
  23. We're still pretending DeRosa's contract needed to be moved to acquire Peavy.
