  1. Because as Calipari has shown, Memphis has a golden ticket to the tournament every year. Throw in the extra million that Memphis can offer on top of the free ride to the tournament and it's a decent sell. That seems like quite a stretch. Anyone who's any good should be able to make the tournament consistently regardless of conference. If anything, Memphis' awful conference decreases their chance of an at large, meaning they're an unlucky conference tourney from the NIT in many years.
  2. There's a couple catching prospects between Daytona and Tennessee that have to be excited about this.
  3. If Cal's recruits follow him to UK, why would Anderson(or anyone in a power conference) want the Memphis job? The current roster would be barren and it would be a step down in the level of competition. As it pertains to Anderson, they've been waiting until the season was done to hammer out the exact details of an extension and raise(1.3 million was the number I heard). The one and only reason for Anderson to go to Memphis would be dollar signs, and considering his character I really doubt that he'd choose that over all the other advantages he'd have staying at Mizzou(or even going to another power conference school).
  4. Looks like just a verbal. He's a part of the Facebook group campaigning for Calipari to take the UK job.
  5. The Cubs are anything but screwed if Lee is hurt for a while or isn't above average offensively. That's the benefit of having at least 5 guys who are projected to OPS in the .850+ range. If you lose one of them or one of them disappoints, you aren't as hurt as if Pujols goes down for 2 months or something. Especially if that position is 1B and has the best replacement in terms of projected production. Now if Lee's hand falls off and Hoffpauir OPS's .700 for 2 months it obviously will hurt, but it doesn't sink the team by any stretch of the imagination. They'd still be the odds on favorite to win the central and a very strong favorite to make the playoffs.
  6. Bumping this to ask for some trade input. Someone offered Ervin Santana and Ramon Hernandez for Soto. With Martinez already on my team, and being a big fan of Hernandez as a sleeper, I'm intrigued by what I could get for Soto. Any thoughts on what I should target? For potential guys, the other team has Hernandez, Morneau, Cano(on the bench), BJ Upton, Lackey, Ervin, Z, J Sanchez, and Jurrjens. I'm thinking about counter offering Soto and Loney for Morneau, Cano, and Hernandez.
  7. Gaudin Spring Training 2006: 7.43 ERA in 13.1 IP Gaudin Regular Season 2006: 143 ERA+ in 64 IP Granted, Gaudin's peripherals weren't very good in 2006, but the point remains.
  8. So I win in half the scenarios, awesome. Go MSU and Nova.
  9. Boy do I hate having to root for OU. You draw 80 fouls a game Griffin, stop clapping after every single one you lazy stooge. And make a free throw.
  10. OU has no chance if they can't make UNC pay for double teaming Griffin.
  11. OU looks like garbage in the early going.
  12. Is it just the online feed that's giving us Gus and Len without them knowing? Gus was mocking Len pretty good.
  13. Suton just volleyed the ball off his foot to himself for a basket, awesome.
  14. Marmol is first year arbitration eligible after this year, and is a free agent after 2012.
  15. How was that last whistle not a corner? How?
  16. There's no maximum, is there? Because we should really get at least 8. And I've only been watching since the 60th minute.
  17. Hejduk redeeming himself with some nice runs.
  18. You've got to be kidding me.
  19. Those 2 are my final, so now I need them to come through. If they both even make the final, I think I'll win my money pool without needing to get anything else right.
  20. Boy we've committed a bunch of stupid fouls today.
  21. Walker picked up the ball at the 3 point line and made a layup.
  22. Well, Mizzou is 30-1 when they're not trailing by double digits at the half, and they're not trailing by double digits. Hopefully the small and thin backcourt wears down for UConn.
  23. Boy does Bilas have a lot of good things to say about UConn for a one possession game.
