  1. Also, the Pirates lineup has like 2.5 major league hitters in it.
  2. if so, that is a really good start by carpenter Yeah looks very near his CY Young form of a few years ago, he could easily win 16-20 games this year if he stays healthy. With him and a healthy Wainright going, color me worried. Carpenter's thrown 25 innings combined the last two years. I have a lot of doubt of Carpenter's ability to be effective for a full season, which they need with their lack of pitching depth. And whatever chance there is of him being healthy and effective is mitigated by Wainwright's injury history.
  3. Rickie Weeks still isn't a very good defender. And Benji Molina would be better off hoping a throw goes out of play than trying to beat out a play at 1st.
  4. would you rather have someone else face lee, tejada, and pence and keep marmol for pudge, bourn, and a pinch hitter? I'd see how far Vizcaino could take me and use Marmol if the game was in doubt. Looks like Lou really wants to slam the door since he used Marmol and now has Gregg and Guzman warming.
  5. There's been big problems with the streaming since Opening Day. I think it's slowly been getting better, but I'd wait a week or so to see if the stuttering and freezing goes away. If you have a strong connection, premium is worth the extra $30, the picture is incredible, you know, when it's actually moving.
  6. That jells with the scouting reports on Castillo, that he has all the tools, but needs refinement(especially in blocking balls). Where did you find those numbers?
  7. I'm worried that Soto's shoulder might end up in the same category as Harden's.
  8. He's gotta be hurt. There is absolutely no reason to use your closer in a tie game on the road. Unless Marmol already won the closers job back from Gregg. Of course you use your closer. Once you get to the 9th inning every inning is a save situation. Saving a good reliever for when you get the lead is a good way to lose before you get one.
  9. I find it hard to believe that Theriot's running was entirely of his own volition. Today's loss was a frustrating one. We couldn't hit Rodriguez in MMP again, and the crummy 2/3 of the Astros lineup beat us with seeing eye singles and bloops. Hopefully Soto is alright. As for Lou, the only thing he did wrong was send the runners, and leave Miles in the game. We gave up at least 1 out(maybe 2) with the heart of the order up because of the running. As for leaving Miles in the game, he's an awful defender at short. Theriot is no wizard, but he's better at everything than Miles, and shouldn't have been removed unless he hurt himself running. The rest of Lou's moves were the right ones, he pinch hit Miles at the right time, and used the bullpen in the correct order. Adding Kosuke for defense in the 10th is a good idea too. EDIT: Whoops, I missed the first couple batters of the 10th, I didn't realize he had Cotts face Rodriguez and Berkman. Bad idea. Not worth it when you can go to Gregg at the beginning of the inning.
  10. The Cubs were the best offense in the NL against LHP last year.
  11. Is that really that flattering? It means, he'll be lucky to get drafted, and if he does, teams see him as a role player/energy guy (which is a role where he could succeed) Not really, my point was that even that was a stretch. Carroll was the most important player on Mizzou, but as a pro all he can do is make running hook shots, and he can only defend NBA SFs. Disappointing that Terrence Williams seems to have shot up to the lottery, I had him in mind for the Cavs pick this year.
  12. Who exactly is in Milwaukee's rotation? Suppan started, and both McClung and Bush have pitched in relief.
  13. Yeah, his oblique thing is keeping him in Mesa.
  14. Good to see Fontenot rewarded for his good opening day.
  15. All of us Gil Meche owners hate you, Kyle.
  16. Wow, Carroll generously listed as the 30th best Senior on that list. Lyons at 49 should be higher, he at least has the ability and size to eventually make a roster.
  17. Hrm...Matulia and Scales have played the most minor league games at 3B. Would be awesome if Fox tried his hand there. But then who plays 1B? Deeds I guess.
  18. Bradley's movements defensively are far more herky jerky than I would've guessed. Hopefully with some more time he gets a little smoother. Fukudome did not look good. Theriot and Fontenot did. Good to see Soriano with a HR, single, and no K's. Pitching was good. Gregg wasn't pretty, but effective. Good start for Heilman as a fireman as well.
  19. Nope, if Cooper wants to burn a bench bat to get a RH in against Cotts(who isn't a lefty killer), with a man only on first with 2 outs in the 7th, that's his prerogative.
