  1. We call it Ramsey Roulette when he steps to the line.
  2. I loved Catalanotto as a bench/platoon guy a few years ago. Unfortunately he's declining as a bat and isn't a very good trade target at this point.
  3. I'm UNC and MSU from being 8 for 8 in the Elite 8. Considering MSU is my title winner and their opponent is evil personified, I'm pulling hard for the Spartans.
  4. There's not a chance he can be a starter? You're still exaggerating. What are his skills? Athleticism? Anything else? He can take the ball to the basket and has a decent jumper.
  5. From what I've heard, it's almost as much based on off the floor stuff than actual performance. Though missing the tourney for the first time in forever certainly doesn't help. They knew about the drinking before they hired him. Is there something else? He's been really abrasive to the media(especially ESPN), plus he apparently played himself up as "always a Texan" and has distanced himself from the UK culture.

  7. holy cow we're a win away from the final four oh wait UConn is gonna curb stomp us at least we beat those untalented c-usa clowns, learn to shoot a jumper you jokers
  8. Do you mean you had a plan of $/position? Like "I'm going to spend $20 on my 1B, $25 on my top SP, no more than $8 on 2 more SPs, $20 on one closer, $5 on the other, etc." I really liked the auction style, but I'm trying to figure out a better strategy for the next time around. Yeah. It was something like this: C - 15 1B - 15 2B - 30 3B - 30 SS - 35 OF - 20 OF - 10 OF - 5 OF - 3 OF - 3 UT - 2 All 3 BN - 2 each SP - 25 SP 2-6 - 5 each RP - 20 RP - 5 P - 3 It worked well for me, although I think I got lucky that I was able to fill in most of my rotation and outfield for less than my budgeted amount.
  9. Except for the fact that they had been building for right now this entire decade. Braun, Fielder, Gallardo, Laporta, Gamel, Weeks, Hardy, etc. didn't just appear out of nowhere. Sucks for them that they've built for this the entire decade and are projected in 3rd place like 10 wins behind us.
  10. it's not based on just 2009 Even then, the Brewers at #6 is a curious choice. Like was mentioned in the comments of that article, the grades for MLB talent(their pitching is seriously ungood) and MiLB talent(they lack starpower and are ranked more middle of the pack right now) are probably overstated.
  11. C Shoppach (Mauer once healthy) 1B Gonzalez 2B Utley SS Rollins 3B Wright MI Hardy CI Atkins OF Crawford OF Ibanez OF Ethier OF C. Young OF Hawpe UT Milledge BN: Mauer, Gordon, Weeks SP Halladay SP Weaver SP Myers SP Meche SP Price SP Wang SP Danks RP Soria RP B. Wilson I had a plan of what I wanted to spend per spot going in, and that really helped me. I went over it early to ensure I got my top tier guys, but I was able to get it back later when I had more money than most(my other 5-6 starters combined cost as much as it did to get Halladay). It's light on pitching, especially with Price starting in AAA, but I'm real happy with it. I'm hooked on the auction style.
  12. After 2010 we'll have around 80 million committed to 12 guys assuming Bradley's option is picked up. C Soto 1B OPEN 2B Fontenot SS Theriot 3B Ramirez LF Soriano CF Fukudome RF Bradley Zambrano/Dempster/Marshall/Samardzija/OPEN Marmol is the only pen guy under contract. Harden's obviously a possibility as well. To suggest there's no chance of that team competing when they could have a ton of money to fill any rotation holes and 1B is lunacy.
  13. The Cardinals, almost by default.
  14. Patton is a promising young arm in the same way Gaudin is a promising young arm. Actually, Gaudin is more of a promising young arm than Patton is. Again, Patton has never pitched above A ball. His ST performance is nice, but as a reliever it's more likely he's faced a disproportionate amount of minor leaguers in his outings, plus it's ST performance which isn't much of an indicator. I don't think it matters too much if we lose him, I'd rather keep Gaudin around, and I like Stevens, Ascanio, and even Hart better than Patton. Vizcaino I can take or leave, but like I said I don't think we're missing out if that's the choice that's made.
  15. Not at all unpredictable, that a promising young arm would be lost because the Cubs have to find space for overpaid veteran relievers with no roster flexibility. It's a real shame they trade Marquis for an immovable object. Patton is a near 25 year old who spent last year in High A. He supposedly has good stuff and has had a strong spring, but let's not go overboard here. The odds of getting decent production out of Patton aren't so different than Vizcaino having a decent year. And Gaudin is a better option than Patton, without question.
  16. The problem is he can't be decent defensively anywhere. He just can't.
  17. If they're on a 40 man roster, it's a bit over 50k. Otherwise, it's not much unless you have a signing bonus to fall back on. Looks like AAA players make about 25k per season, closer to 20k if they only count the months that they're actually playing ball. Remember though, players are fed and partially housed for a good portion of the season.
  18. That was a lot of fun, the freedom to get who you want is great. I'm really happy with how my team turned out too.
  19. Walking 3 guys per 9 innings is hardly troublesome. The HR are a problem, but there's plenty of guys who can be worth that contract with a poor HR rate, Ted Lilly springs to mind.
  20. Draft's in about 10 minutes people, make your way there if you haven't yet.
  21. I wouldn't bet on it.
  22. I can't find any. If you're worried about missing the Mizzou game, I think you stand a good shot of seeing the two midwest teams in action instead of east coasters Duke and Nova.
  23. I saw an article a little while back that suggested Nolasco's a strong candidate for injury/severe regression. I think it was mainly based on his pitch mix and a jump in IP. Let me see if I can find it. EDIT: Here it is: http://razzball.com/20-risky-pitchers-for-2009/
