  1. As a big market team, I'm not sure much should be put into who the Cubs drafted but didn't sign. In most cases it seems to be guys who are nearly universally regarded as higher picks and the Cubs are hoping that money changes their mind. Wilson and Gray from this last draft are good examples.
  2. Marquette looks really, really good.
  3. Interesting, my first reaction when I saw it was that Missouri's pod was stacked. WVU doesn't have an impressive resume, but both Pomeroy and Sagarin Predictor have them ranked 6th. I'm not sure if they're that good, but I'd put them over the other 6 seeds. North Dakota State would also be pretty scary for a 14th seed if they end up that low. I didn't realize WVU was so well regarded by Pomeroy. Still, they're only 4-7 against the Pomeroy Top 50(including a win against Georgetown and excluding a loss to Davidson), and considering the other 6 seeds are Illinois(no thanks), Syracuse(again, no thanks), and Cal(yes please), it's a pretty good draw. Plus it's no west coast teams in Boise. I was more excited about being in the same half of the bracket as the worst 2 seed in Indy though.
  4. I love love love Mizzou's draw in that bracketology.
  5. He made one from the E in BRADLEY CENTER ridiculous.
  6. I like this(RHP/LHP): Soriano Fontenot/Johnson Ramirez Bradley Soto Lee Fukudome/Theriot Theriot/Miles Although switching up Lee and Soto to protect Lee's ego or whatever is fine too. Kosuke and Fontenot can switch if Kosuke gets hot and/or Fontenot slumps. Same with Theriot and Johnson against LHP. Also interesting to note, with platoons in CF and 2B and Bradley being a switch hitter, we project an all right handed lineup v. LHP.
  7. Yes, please don't go then let Gregg beat you out for the closer's role.
  8. McGehee went 4 for 24 with a double and 8 K's last year. He has no minor league success to fall back on, nor is age on his side.
  9. Cmon, Marte regressed in almost every way imaginable in 3 different AAA seasons(okay, his strikeout rate went down his last year). We're talking about being over 3 seasons removed from the last time he did anything positive to his value as a player. I'd take him with open arms with the alternative in the minor leagues being Josh Lansford right now, but let's not pretend Marte just caught a bad break or something, in terms of time he's as far removed from being good as Mark Prior is.
  10. I thought he was talking about the game in Happy Valley.
  11. I really don't like seeing pods where Mizzou is the highest seed and their second round matchup would be in Boise against a west coast team. Stupid OU and Memphis are going to make it impossible for them to play in KC.
  12. what does it matter? Because he wants people to visit his website to see the pictures. Yeah, in the future, a link, with an image or two to preview(like UMFan did), is much preferrable to hotlinking a bunch of images. It gives the site that owns the image the traffic it's earned, keeps NSBB clear from any dumb infringement arguments should the owner be protective of his stuff, and it makes the pages of this thread a lot easier to load and scroll. Thanks.
  13. I did tell you about this on April 4th, 2008. And then I brought it up again on May 26th, 2008. Can you link me to it? I can't find it by searching your posts for Kosuke or Fukudome.
  14. I agree that Kosuke is probably going to bounce back in some fashion, but where was this tempered projection for how he'd need to adjust to 2 seamers last year?
  15. How could Wal Mart possibly be bad?
  16. I think she invented toaster strudel. Okay, I can take ribbing about things that happened to Mizzou before I went there or cared about them, but there will be dire consequences if you dare impugn the name of toaster strudel again. Consider yourself on notice.
  17. Texas is getting reamed by aTm. It's a good thing their non-con was so strong. Even then though, they have to play OU again and go to kansas, meaning they may have to avoid tripping up against Tech, @OSU, and Baylor to stay over .500 in the conference.
  18. OUR MASCOT IS REAL
  19. Guess who had a higher IsoP last year between Blanco and Bako. Are you suggesting Bako is a better hitter than Blanco? And if so, are you basing that solely on last year? I hope you're not trying to suggest what I think you're saying because of one stat from one year. I'm saying that Bako has as much if not more "pop" in his bat as Blanco does.
  20. Guess who had a higher IsoP last year between Blanco and Bako.
  21. Sweet, more at bats for Miles in a starting role. It does help the pinch hitting situation though. I wonder how those two compare in value when you account for the leverage of when a #1 PH is used.
  22. Soriano Fontenot/Theriot Ramirez Bradley Soto Lee Kosuke Theriot/Miles The only way I want Soriano moved down in the order is if Kosuke starts raking.
