Having Guzman as an additional fireman(assuming he's effective) would be tremendous. It would keep Samardzija in Iowa as an additional rotation option, and give another option besides Marmol if Gregg were to piss off Lou. I'd worry about his workload though, so hopefully he can earn his way to a consistent role without a Marmol-esque usage pattern from the beginning of the season.
Abreu has very little to do with Miles, you can't expect Hendry to think "I'm going to wait on adding a crucial part to my team because the market might unexpectedly tank". The problem is 1) Signing Miles at all, 2) considering Miles a crucial part of a team, and 3) paying Miles 2/5 regardless of the market conditions.
In the infield you either make the play or you don't. In the outfield you can actually catch the ball, you can save extra bases on plays you don't, and you can throw out runners. Especially given that, I'm not sure there's significantly fewer chances in the outfield.
Taken from discussion on GRB: "Looking at Dewan's +/- numbers, this doesn't look like such a great deal. Over the last three years, Abreu is a collective -52 in RF (ranking 32nd, 32nd, and 34th among all RFers over the last 3 years)."
Bradley every time. even with Bradley's health concerns? Yes. I'd rather gamble on Bradley's health/the performance of his replacement than on Abreu's age and defense.
Here's a cool site that aggregates a bunch of bracket predictions(54 right now) to give the average seeding for each team listed. http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm
Your bitterness is unbelievably delicious. http://kenpom.com/rate.php http://kenpom.com/conf.php?c=B12 when a fan of illinois basketball talks, i believe the proper response for a missourian is to shut up and look at the floor. Don't get mad at me because we're ranked higher in a better conference, maybe some day you'll get one of those lucky bounces to go your way.
Sorry, Snood, I forgot you were a writer, so you'd probably prefer text over visuals. You can read about Mizzou beating kansas here, here, here, here, and here.
