  1. Six and a half hours in the cold and rain and we piss it away in the span of 5 minutes. Awful.
  2. He's not ineligible for contact with a celebrity/former player, he's ineligible for lying to the NCAA about it. The fact is he thought he screwed up, and he tried to cover it up. Moral of the story: Don't lie
  3. So Cashner goes from just behind #5 in the FSL list if he had IP, to not making the SL list. Seems like a gulf of opinion about him amongst BA's writers.
  4. To attempt to let the monsoon pass? I don't really know. But seriously, Columbia's looking at up to 5 inches of rain by tomorrow, should be fun.
  5. Given that Mizzou goes to Stillwater next week, this is very exciting news.
  6. Joshua coaching in lower levels is better for the organization than him coaching MLB hitters. If this move forced him out of the organization, then it's really dumb. Wittenmeyer's Twitter said that Sandberg will not get an interview. Dave (I think it's Dave) Keller will get an interview, and they'll look outside the organization as well.
  7. It'd be kinda neat to have the Cubs draft a guy I saw play when he was 10. His dad is a professional hitting instructor, so he should be relatively polished as a hitter if he were to stay there/be converted.
  8. Hell. Yes. McGee is nothing to write home about either. He'll be much better than Juice.
  9. does that feel right to you? 35 runs? he played 84 games in the of and 67 at first base. just because we have easy access to uzr doesn't mean we should just accept it as gospel. Yeah, I like UZR and realize Dunn is an atrocious defender, but 35 runs in that many games seems a bit too high. UZR consistenly has Dunn as a -20 defender or worse. Even if 35 is an outlier, the crux of Rob's point is still true. Dunn's defense destroys most of his overall value, to the point where he's not worth his contract.
  10. aTm's all-whites look pretty cool. I'm especially a fan of the white helmets.
  11. I don't see the appeal of Towers. I know he had his payroll slashed to nothing, but even prior to that he hadn't built teams that were all that spectacular.
  12. Which is weird, because I was just thinking, "man, Stoops is probably having a tough time convincing kids to play football for OU".
  13. The 70+ steals help with that.
  14. Carpenter and Wainwright each have a 5.5 WAR. Lincecum is at 8.
  15. Updated for today: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/09/elias-rankings-update-6.html Cubs of note: Gregg - Type A Grabow - Type A Harden - Type A Johnson - Nothing Others of note: Scutaro - Type A O. Cabrera - Type A Hudson - Type A DeRosa - Type A F. Sanchez - Type A Figgins - Type B Cameron - Type B Ankiel - Nothing
  16. Hawpe is an Adam Dunn caliber level defender, on the whole Bradley has outperformed him in 30 less games.
  17. Didn't Guevara get a second yellow?
  18. Yes, you should thank the Colts that you get to see a pair of 3-0 teams go at it instead of the awful Browns playing the okay Bengals.
  19. There's also speculation of playing hurt (219/.266/.371 since the break). Its a down year for him, no doubt. His first and second half splits are almost identical the last two years. Was he hurt last year?
  20. Rowand is 21st of 25 qualified CFs in OPS and wOBA.
  21. I wanted Wheeler over Brett Jackson, but how does he deserve consideration for NWL #1? A .713 OPS for a 21 year old isn't quite awe-inspiring, especially considering Jackson outperformed him(to speak nothing of how Jackson did even better a level higher). And Lee was better across the board while being a shortstop that's 2 years younger.
