  1. Wilkerson, Guillen, Church, Sledge, and Byrd for only 3 spots. That and Bowden is stupid, so it could happen.
  2. Just a word of warning, and I have no first hand evidence to back it up. But apparently visiting team fans aren't treated well AT ALL in Cleveland. I mean, AT ALL. Just so you know. Browns fans are surprisingly die-hard. Yeah, I can back that up. Usually with baseball you are pretty safe. But with football, the drunks get a little more noisey. :? Yes, Browns fans are pretty die hard. Wasn't too long ago they had to end a game because fans threw all those beer bottles on the field.
  3. Steve Phillips is absolutely terrible. It's not even amusing like Morgan is at times, just enraging stupidity.
  4. Klesko has like a .564 OPS against LHP this year. Johnson looks like a good hitter from his PCL numbers, and I've never been a huge Roberts fan, so I don't mind that either.
  5. What did he say that was a big swipe at Chicago, aside from the hot dog comment, or making fun of the Cell's location?
  6. I think Huff will likely improve on his '05 numbers, and Murton will likely regress, maybe to the point where Huff outproduces him. That said, Huff is too much of a gamble to outproduce Murton where it's worth acquiring him. Add in his impending free agency and lack of defense and there's not much reason to go after him. There's better targets out there, some even on the same team(Gomes).
  7. Is the winter meeting in December? Yes. There'll be a good deal of activity before then though. That's when the big trade rumors start to materialize, the FA market doesn't seem to spike to much at the meetings to my recollection.
  8. Abreu for the season: .286/.405/.474/.879 w/ Runners On: .305/.426/.505/.931 w/ RISP: .303/.444/.500/.944 w/ Bases Loaded: .294/.333/.824/1.157 Close and Late: .298/.422/.571/.993 Abreu for his career: .303/.411/.512/.923 w/ Runners On: .327/.443/.540/.983 w/ RISP: .321/.454/.549/1.003 w/ Bases Loaded: .330/.403/.585/.988 Close and Late not available for his career
  9. And every year since 2003 the team has gotten worse. Hendry is very savvy. EDIT: In terms of post season and record. Prior & Wood were healthy in 2003. Most teams couldn't withstand their #1 and #2 going down two years in a row. Oh for the love of all things good and decent. Injuries are not the reason the Cubs have not gotten better. Yet they are a large part of why they have gotten worse.
  10. Guillen says that it was a joke. Link I don't believe him.
  11. While that's true, there may not be as much competition for Furcal, as others have noted. Last year the Red Sox, Angels, Cardinals, and Cubs off the top of my head needed a SS, so there was plenty of competition between those big market team. With those teams set at SS, and no other big market teams needing a SS, the asking price for Furcal may not reach 8 figures. EDIT: Or in other words, what Vance said.
  12. And they will spank the Cardinals! :D 8) I'm just hoping they can get by the Astros for now. Even though I'm seven hours away, the Braves are my hope for being able to attend a WS game this year. No roadtrip to MMP?
  13. I never thought to have a former player that was a good basestealer as a 1st base coach. That's a great idea.
  14. Glenn plays for Dallas, they're playing Philly. I'd probably bench Glenn.
  15. 16. 1) who cares about a poster's sig on a message board on the internet?? honestly, does it really both you what a poster's sig is on a baseball message board on the web?? as far as im concerned, its not worth pointing out. 2) who cares if they have no IR in baseball. if you are hurt and cant play, you are no longer active. who cares if its called IR, DL, or something else? 3) i put rusch's ERA at just over 4.00, which isnt that much lower than he is now. to the best of my knowledge, he's in the 4.00's right now. 4) predicting RBI's certainly cant be as pointless as pointing out to another poster that he needs to change his sig. Calm down man, he's just noting that what's in your sig was dated since the season is over. And yes, there's a large difference between an IR and DL. I'm not positive but IR doesn't take up roster space in other sports, it's actually an important distinction to make, whether a guy is on the 15 or 60-day DL, never mind the use of IR.
  17. Okie state is garbage, they got shut out by Colorado last week. Don't underestimate the crappiness of our defense. We let Young convert a 3rd and 30 on a scramble last week, and he stiff armed one of our DB's straight to the ground. Hopefully Smith can go nuts and not turn the ball over a million times. Please beat Texas. Like last year would be nice.
  18. It's very underrated, or so I am told. Check out the R&R Hall of Fame while you're there. Meh. The stadium is pretty nice I'm told, but Cleveland isn't a super-cool town. Tower City's pretty neat, but it's no more special than other similar places(Mag Mile, Union Station in STL, etc.) IIRC, the stadium is right on the lake, so count on cooler temps than the forecast predicts.
  19. Mizzou travels to Oklahoma State. Mizzou's defense will try and give up less than 40 points. Emphasis on try.
  20. It looked to me that Nunez was heading for the base. That was a shot toward the line, and based on where they were showing Nunez before that pitch, I don't think there's any way that he gets to that ball if he isn't trying to get the runner. No the previous pitch was fouled off but the runner was already almost to third and Nunez was making no move towards the bag whereas Molina was out of his crouch aimed towards second where Grudz was covering. Before the play they showed Tony point to Nunez to play off the base and not cover. I understand that Nunez wasn't moving towards the base on the previous pitch, which leads me to believe he had to have been moving toward third on the next pitch to field that hot shot the way he did.

  22. I took McNabb and Owens 1-2, now I'm leading my league in points.
  23. Nomar 11.4 VORP, $8.25M, 1.4 VORP/$M The exact some offensive output for the team in 342 less at bats. Wow.
  24. "Welcome to your new office Mr. Pole."
  25. No, you didn't throw in some random, irrelevant stats like Blanco's CS% or Ramirez's Fielding Pct. to try and sound edgy.
