  1. Fine, use the entire season. With the exception of slugging Lee and Pujols' numbers are for all practical purposes the same, so give it to the guy who's team made the playoffs. Lee was unbelievable in the first half of the season, and just good in the second half. For half the season Lee did not play like an MVP. Wow. Lee for the season outperformed Pujols in just about every metric, including more all-encompassing ones like VORP, or RC, or RCAA, or BPA, or EqA. That's all there really is to it.
  2. I was(am) convinced that it's the caliber of team that they are. They lost 4 games last year, and in their NC year they had a multitude of close games they managed to win, mostly IMO because of Krenzel's game management. I don't think Zwick and Smith are even close to that, and it will cost them in close games. I still think that they'll lose 3-4 games, between road games at PSU, UM, and Minnesota, and a home game against MSU, I see them going .500 in that stretch.
  3. I hope you enjoy losing. Whatever pal, don't get overconfident... the better-paid team doesn't necessarily win all the time! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope OSU wins. OSU needs to be as highly ranked as possible for MSU to bounce back in the polls on the 15th. Plus PSU is the last game of the season for MSU, which gives PSU time to recover so that game will be another quality win for MSU.
  4. Loaiza pitched in the most pitcher friendly park in baseball this year. Home: 2.86 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 7.77 K/9, 4.13 K/BB, .233/.275/.342/.617 Away: 4.71 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 6.56 K/9, 2.43 K/BB, .306/.358/.435/.792 Stay far away.
  5. The Vet was a pitcher's stadium, though, and Abreu's numbers were just as good there. I'm a kid in a candy store with these two, though, as they're my favorite non-Cubs. Yeah, and Giles had a down season all around last year. I agree though that I would take either or both. Given the choice though, I'll take Giles because of the above, and the (lack of) player cost.
  6. How is this typical? Can you site other incidents similar to this from the White Sox this year? Every year for the past 4 years, the Sox telling the media that they're better than the Twins. "Magglio Ordonez is a Venezuelan #####! He's got an enemy (More ##### and more hateful obnoxiousness)" Buehrle's whining about the Rangers supposed cheating from a team whose fans would gloat for years about what a great sign stealer Nossek was. Guillen's whining at every single oppurtunity possible about everything and anything. If Podsednik's mediocre year didn't appeal so well to old-schoolers, I can't understand why anyone would root for this sham of a team. Sham? 99 win sham? C'mon, I know people hate the Sox, but a crappy team doesn't luck it's way into 99 wins. All those things you listed are inexcusable, but I could got item for item with the Cubs actions the past 2 years as well. I don't think anything could come close to Guillen giving the other team the choke sign during a pitching change. They really need to be exposed by Boston.
  7. Park Factors anyone? Abreu Home: .304/.423/.535/.958 Away: .268/.390/.416/.806 Giles Home: .267/.378/.417/.795 Away: .333/.463/.545/1.008
  8. I meant for 2006 he will be getting 4 million and a 1 million dollar signing bonus does that mean it counts against next years payroll or does the 1 million dollar get paid out over the next three years. I'm pretty sure that he gets all 1 million paid out next year, but LCCF and likely others believe that it gets paid out 333k per year.
  9. Not really, he actually can be very inaccurate with his arm. With DLee on the other side, it will be better, but he is a lot like Aram with the strong but inaccurate arm. Furcal's outstanding defensively. In fact, I don't know how I missed him when I was looking to see who could give Neifi a run for his money this year for the Gold Glove.
  10. Not unless Vlad or Miggy Cabrera become available.
  11. What about help separating Kent and Bradley? Cubs send: ??? Cubs get: Bradley, Romero Dodgers send: Bradley, Kent Dodgers get: Hunter, ???? from Cubs Twins send: Hunter, Romero Twins get: Kent, payroll relief(just under 4 million)
  12. What does Vizcaino's sexual preferences have to do with pinch hitting? :-s i honestly don't know how that bi got in there, i don't remember it. cosmic. forget the g in big?
  13. He's no Carlos Beltran, that's for sure.
  14. No way man. Listen to Stuart Scott.
  15. What about a lack of sample size? 5 innings? with how many walks? i'm sorry, my opinion may be tainted by memories of watching him throw the ball in the general direction of the plate, every time he got in the game, without having any success in the strike zone. I think I only saw JVB pitch once, and don't remember him being that awful with control. Sure he had 8 walks in 5 innings, but it's 5 innings! One bad outing if you're a starter. It's basically nothing when evaluating JVB going forward. Now he has historically walked more guys then I'm comfortable with(around 3.6-3.7 per 9 IP), but that doesn't mean he should be buried because of 5 bad innings.
  16. Lee has a 75 to 70(roughly) advantage over Pujols in VORP as well. Jones is around 61.
  17. I doubt that very much. Yep, Giles-Kent-Castillo-Walker is my order of preference, based on ability alone.
  18. Very cool. Is it going to be updated to include info on all the other teams as well? Some other teams already have information inputted, but that's the goal.
  19. same place my Mizzou Tigers are :-\ So I think the only hope we have of having anything worthwhile going on this year is for Nebraska to be undefeated coming into their trip to Mizzou. That and beating Kansas.
  20. I actually think STL may go down first round, just because they're the only team in a situation where they are the clear favorite to win their series. That's what happens in the playoffs.
  21. Padres win it all, you heard it here first.
  22. That is a good point. What will he be up to next year? Close to 2 million? Patterson made 2.8 million this year. My guess is that he'd get a pay cut next year to about 2.5, or a similar salary. If the Cubs are desparate to get rid of him though, I think he'll be gone before that decision has to be made.
  23. Hey, I'm in that picture! And again MSU finds itself way behind a team they beat in the polls.
