  1. Yes. I haven’t seen all the Bears games this year. But as I watched today I was amazed by Fuller’s play. That’s the guy we drafted. I hope he keeps it going. I brought it up last page, but since we turned down his 5th year option(rightfully so), he's a FA at the end of the year. He's playing like a legit number 1 and has been for most of the year. Its a weird spot to be in. If he keeps this up, its going to be one of the weirdest franchise tags ever, unless we can lock him up longterm. Which brings up another question. What do you give a guy that's doing this? I'd be wary still myself, but he does LOOK like he's legitimately turned himself into a damn good player at this point. Guess next week will tel us a bit more. I believe his 5th year option would have been about 8.5Mil. CBs of his quality seem to get around that to 10M AAV. I'd probably 4 years/38-42Mil and guarantee about 20M of that. Assuming no bridges were burned with him not coming back from injury last year and the things Fangio said about him, then I'd think he'd take that.
  2. Bears offense- 4 receptions for 107 yards; 68 yards rushing Bears defense- 2 receptions for 84 yards, TD; 75 yards rushing (fumble return), TD
  3. Story of the season so far is guys that were previously written off, performing like studs. Kyle Fuller, Adrian Amos, and Christian Jones (quietly) have all been really good this year, especially the last 3 weeks. Hell, could probably include Kyle Long in that group. Next week should be interesting. Huge test for the surprising DB group that has been playing great football. If they can't hold the Saints down (nobody else has), then Loggains will have to unleash Trubisky in some way, shape, or form in order to compete in the game. Either way, I expect the Bears to let Trubisky do a little bit more coming out of the bye. They're going to have to at some point.
  4. Alex Cobb. He started to look like the pre-injury guy toward the end of the season. K9 up to 7.3 in the 2nd half of the season, but that included 8.9 K/9 in the last 2 months. He also brought his HR/9 back to his career numbers the last 2 months after give up over 1.1 HR/9 the rest of the year after giving up 2 HR per 9 in his limited starts in 2016. Familiarity with Maddon and potentially will have his pitching coach again next year if the Cubs hire Hickey. Plus, he's a generally a decent fielder from what I understand. And FWIW, he's historically dominated the NL during interleague play.
  5. Obviously, I'd love Yelich as anyone with any common sense would. 25, team friendly contract, extremely productive, I think he's pretty good defensively, fits a need in CF and at the top of the lineup. But I agree that they'll get rid of Stanton, Gordon and Osuna first and foremost. And they'll get enough talent from those deals to build a competent team around Yelich, if the new ownership isn't as stupid and bad as the last one. I almost feel like we're overthinking this offseason. Obviously, some upgrades are needed in the pen. But I'd feel pretty good about essentially re-signing Arrieta, Jay and Davis and taking our chances with the same team as this year + a couple pen guys to replace Rondon, Grimm & Monty (to the rotation). Bank on improvement from Schwarber, Russell, and Almora. I'd think Zobrist won't be as bad either, though he probably won't be as good as 2016 again. I will say, it seems to be a foregone conclusion....at least as much as free agency could be....that Lorenzo Cain will garner a lot of interest from the Cubs.
  6. Arrieta can't lose an elimination game! Start him tomorrow.
  7. 4.0 right? Yes.
  8. He probably could have fired it in there to complete it, but Gentry would have taken a hit from the other LB in coverage and the safety would have been barreling down on him as well. Would have taken a pretty good (not perfect) throw to get it past the 1st LB and not run the WR into the 2nd LB. But it's one Trubisky will probably be able (moreso willing) to make in the future. Not going to get on him for it. But he also shouldn't be free from criticism. He obviously left some plays on the field by being conservative, and I know I'm not supposed to blame the coaching, but he's clearly been coached to be conservative after the INT vs. Minnesota.
  9. IDK how drafting a WR early = "wasting a draft pick". This WR group isn't as close as you make it out to be. Gentry still hasn't shown much, and he was a UDFA and yo-yoed back and forth to the practice squad without the other 31 teams claiming him for a reason. Meredith was also a UDFA, who has 1 year of production. Wright is barely serviceable. White is a non-factor who can't be counted on. I'm fine with Meredith being counted on if his recovery seems to be going well by the start of the 2018 league season. But even if he was healthy right now, the Bears would probably still need to get a WR better than him next year. Ideally, Meredith is a #2 WR. Gentry shouldn't be given up on, but he should be a #4 or 5. Wright is OK, but he's a FA after the year, and can easily be upgraded as I don't want to reward mediocrity. White should be in a position similar to Fuller before the season. Gotta fight his way onto the roster (probably makes it because of his $$$ + potential), but needs to perform to get on the field. FA Meredith Draft pick White Gentry/McBride/maybe Wright/Bellamy/late pick all fight it out for the last 1-2 spots.
  10. 1 run allowed isn't going to lose you many playoff games either, hence why you put your team in the best situation to keep just 1 run allowed on the scoreboard.
  11. Yeah that was pretty bad too, especially considering he took him out the next half inning anyway.
  12. IDK. It's almost like they faced 4 starts in 7 games against guys who will be top 3 in the Cy Young this year. I mean fine but that's not really a good "excuse." for one, josh fields isn't winning the cy young and neither is brandon morrow. also sale and kluber and severino and Hendricks and Lester and greinke and ray and berrios have all had mediocre to horrendous outings. I mean you're gonna face good pitching. the fact that the cubs are sucking against good pitching doesn't mean they're not sucking. I didn't say it was a good excuse or mean that they don't suck. And you can't really compare not hitting relievers in 1 inning stints to not hitting starters. And FWIW, the Dodgers have the best pen in the league. But anyone in their right mind had to go into full/extended rest starts by Strasburg, Scherzer, Kershaw and even Hill (5 of 7 games) expecting that giving up 3 runs would lose most of those games.
  13. IDK. It's almost like they faced 4 starts in 7 games against guys who will be top 3 in the Cy Young this year. .172/.266./.272 as a team again, no pitching is that good we're facing great pitchers who are executing but we're probably between 2 and 3 standard deviations below where you'd expect this offense to be at. we're in almost worst case scenario territory. Scherzer .178/.242/.319 Kershaw .184/.204/.268 (in 2016) WRONG. Some pitchers are that horsefeathering good.
  14. IDK. It's almost like they faced 4 starts in 7 games against guys who will be top 3 in the Cy Young this year. I get it, but those guys do still give up runs. Even considering the opposition, the offense has been sub-par. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Cubs scored 2 in 5 innings vs. Kershaw. 3.60 ERA, he had a 2.31 this year, 2.36 for his career. No ERs vs. Strasburg in 14 innings, but scored 2 in 7 against him in Game 1 (2.57 RA, 2.82 RA during the season) Scored 5 vs. Scherzer, 3 ER. For a 3.68 ERA. He had a 2.51 this year. The Cubs offense is good, but "those guys do still give up runs" is a bad argument. Everyone gives up runs. They're better at not doing it than any other pitchers in this league. And STILL the Cubs did as well against them as could be expected.
  15. Do you see the problem here? Here’s the thing. Wades arm is about to fall off. And they haven’t hit worth horsefeathers for the entire playoffs. Roll the dice with lackey who’s been ok lately. Here's the thing. Wade was warming up during this game. If his arm was about to fall off.....he wouldn't have been up at all. Secondly, he pitched 3 days ago and has a day off tomorrow. And you're rolling the dice with a guy that has little relief experience and literally had never pitched on back-to-back days in his life, in a RISP situation. Even if Davis just gets 1 batter (Taylor), you throw him there then start the 10th with Lackey.
  16. Yeah, but 1 more failed drug test away from a year suspension. My biggest issue is trading a pick (likely a 4th, i'd guess) for him and he could walk after the season, one which the Bears aren't going anywhere, despite Rodgers being out. And if he's OK and not great (like he's been this year and his whole career), then what do you pay him? He's probably a 1-year "prove it" deal type of guy but would he take that from a rebuilding team w/ a developing QB vs. a team w/ a more proven QB situation and better chance to win? Of course, if he wants a chance to win.....why does he want out of Pittsburgh? Is that what it is or is he frustrated with the lack of targets b/c everything goes to Brown? If he wants to be a #1, no better place than Chicago. Yeah, he's upset about not getting the ball. Ben pretty much only ever looks for Antonio Brown. But still, pretty messed up to demand a trade from a contending team that stuck by you when you missed a year because you can't pass a piss test.
  17. IDK. It's almost like they faced 4 starts in 7 games against guys who will be top 3 in the Cy Young this year.
  18. Wish the Cubs had someone that's used to pitching in these situations close and late.
