  1. Don't have to worry about that after 6 more weeks. I don't think this year means anything other than getting him some experience in actual game time. He doesn't really have horrible habits and doesn't seem to be mentally fragile where this season will be branded on him long-term.
  2. Yeah, he definitely feels pressure that isn't there at times. Only was sacked once (only time they were really close) and it was his fault for that weird early scramble right into the line. Obviously, he had some sacks that were his fault last week. He had the unnecessary back foot throw incomplete to Wheaton on 3rd and 9. He didn't set for a couple other throws. But I think that will come in time. Actually, having WRs he has some confidence in will really help. I think he feels OK about the OL, but my guess is he feels like he has a small window to get the ball to his receivers before the defense recovers, causing some rushed passes.
  3. Eh. He has completed 60% of his passes the last 2 weeks with 4 or 5 drops. He's playing with a middle school playbook and his best WR was picked up in a trade for a conditional 7th round pick 3 weeks ago. If you are concerned with him personally, it's because it's because you had unreasonable expectations.
  4. To be fair, the Bears are only a dropped pass, blown coverage, miscommunication getting the defense lined up correctly, late INT, blown TD call, bad challenge, and a missed FG away from probably losing 5 games in overtime.
  5. Mitch was fine. Pretty comfortably above average. Last drive, receivers just not getting open consistently. He did miss Wheaton on a couple plays, one on an easy pitch and catch that would have converted a 3rd and 9, the other on the last drive which I'll chalk up to their lack of timing together due to Wheaton's constant injuries. I'm really excited for next year. Obviously, we have Goff and Wentz as recent examples of guys who have struggled as rookies to go on to MVP caliber sophomore seasons. And honestly, Trubisky's been much better than Goff was last year. His over QB rating looks similar to Wentz's last year, but his numbers are boosted by not throwing INTs while Wentz threw for many more yards per game. This is Trubisky's 4th game with a QB rating of 88 or higher out of 6 starts. Considering he's doing it with no WR help, lost his top TE, and with a middle school offensive scheme, I have extremely high hopes for 2018.
  6. I did. But, he wasn't throwing tons of pitches, if I remember. Plus, he's still gotta pass a physical, my guess is we'd leave no stone unturned on it. I'm figuring he's the best potential closer, on the market. Years and stuff too, he just seems a better option than Reed. I like Nicasio better than Morrow by a decent bit.
  7. I would not be surprised if they were hoping for a mutual agreement to terminate with a partial buyout of the 2018 season. Maybe they know he's miserable and wants to be done, but don't want to be on the hook for the whole thing. They will be competing with the Giants for their next head coach, though. Giants job only looks attractive because it's NYC's team. Gotta deal with the Manning situation and they have a ton of money tied into older players with a ton of free agent starters and no cap space to fill those spots. Bears should get the cream of the crop if they so choose.
  8. Would have happened by now, if it was going to happen. Gameplan goes into place tomorrow. Would have to make a change by then. Bears have never fired a coach midseason.
  9. Chuck Pagano would be an interesting DC, assuming he gets fired as Colts HC.
  10. Former D1 WR, who transferred to D2 to play QB in college. Has worked with QBs under the Shanahans since 2008. He was the primary mentor for RG3 and Kirk Cousins from their rookie year. Gets a lot of credit for RG3's success early in his career, Cousins' eventual development, Ryan's MVP season (QB coach for Atlanta last year), and now Goff's development as Rams OC. He's never called plays, so that's where Kubiak comes in (said he would be willing to come back as OC, but cited health for not wanting to be a HC anymore). Though I'm not even worried about his inexperience calling plays.
  11. Matt LaFleur please. I've gotten to the point now where I would be disappointed a very slight bit if LaFleur is not the head coach with Kubiak as the OC.
  12. They aren't dumping White. His contract is guaranteed for 5M+. Might as well hang on to him and hope he plays like the 7th overall player from the draft. He definitely should be at camp, but I'd be really worried if he wins a top 5 WR job by default because it would mean they didn't address the position. FA, high draft pick, maybe bring back Inman or similar, Meredith back from injury, then White as the 5th. Likely to be injuries. Meredith may be slow come back. Rookie may be slow to get the playbook. White gets some snaps if he's healthy and you get what you can out of him until he's hurt again.
  13. Well, shoot. i'd start talking new contract with him and his agent, see what the parameters are. Inman, Meredith look like two # 2's. Draft early in the 1-2 rounds a speedster route runner type and dump White. They aren't dumping White. His contract is guaranteed for 5M+. Might as well hang on to him and hope he plays like the 7th overall player from the draft.
  14. Yeah, I've been wondering for a couple days now if the Cubs would be looking at another deal similar to last year's Soler/Davis deal. Happ is kinda in a similar situation as Soler in that he could potentially be lost in a numbers game. But unlike Soler, he doesn't have an injury history or as big of an issue with struggles at the ML level. But I think the Cubs could potentially be interested in a Happ for Robertson or Britton type swap for a proven closer, but with injury questions. But Happ being better and younger than Soler at this point now vs. Jorge last year at this time, while also being able to play more important positions (CF, 2B) means maybe the Cubs could get an Osuna or Colome for him.
  15. Archie Miller era off to a great start.
  16. No. He has 10 days to decide to accept the QO or not. Can get no offers before then. Why can't he get an offer before then? My bad. I thought FAs couldn't negotiate with other teams until like 15 days after the WS. Wasn't that a thing at one point?
  17. No. He has 10 days to decide to accept the QO or not. Can get no offers before then.
  18. That's not very outlandish. This is basically a game where both teams are going to go into it trying to not make mistakes on offense or special teams to let teams that have trouble scoring get cheap points. Would hope that the Bears open it up after the bye and let Mitch actually make some plays. Really a must win for the Bears. Not that they really have a legit shot at doing anything, but a team supposedly on the rise cannot lose this game to their biggest rival going in the opposite direction. Fox loses this game, he's done. Whether it's after the game or after the season, this seems like a game that if they lose, will start a downward spiral for the Bears. McCarthy could also be quietly coaching for his job this week too. Obviously, no Rodgers is a big excuse if they lose and continue to look terrible doing so. But I'd imagine it doesn't look very good on McCarthy that he's gone 3-6-1 without Rodgers. And if you're giving Rodgers that much credit then you have to see it as anyone can coach him to be a good team, and you need a coach to take the team to the next level as that would mean 8 seasons since winning the Superbowl which includes being blown out in the NFC title game last year.
  19. Damn. I completely forgot that he was best friends with Cory Lidle, who died in a plane crash years ago. horsefeathers.
  20. Confirmed. Damn.
  21. Would it be crazy for Wade Davis to accept his qualifying offer? 17.4Mil is a lot of money for a closer. He won't see that AAV in any year of his next deal. So, does he take the big pay day now and still be in-line for a long-term deal if he performs like 2016? He'll be 32 for 90% of the 2017 season. And giving a 33-year old closer a 3-4 year deal is pretty much the same as giving one to a 32 year old. And he could potentially increase his AAV with another strong season.
  22. Comparison has been made before. Rams GM Snead and Pace also have similar routes to GM. Pro scouts to personnel director to young first time GMs. I think both were kinda forced into the "proven veteran" head coach as their first hire. I think Pace will follow suit with a young offensive head coach as his next hire. And the more I read about him, the more I want the Bears to go after Rams OC, Matt LaFleur as their next head coach. With the news today that Gary Kubiak would be open to returning to the league as an offensive coordinator, I'd really like LaFleur as HC with Kubiak as his OC. LaFleur worked for Kubiak as a QC coach for his first job and both are from the Shanahan coaching tree. Would really be an ideal situation, IMO. LaFleur hasn't really called plays before, but neither have other successful coaches (including Rams coach McVay). And he wouldn't have to call plays with a guy like Kubiak around. But a 37 year old head coach, 40 year old GM, with an experienced, successful OC who has no desire to get up and move to a head coaching job in the near future. Both LaFleur and Kubiak have played with primarily 3-4 DCs too, so bringing Fangio back is an option as is a change without changing up what has been a successful defense.
  23. Bad take. Uniforms are dope. Also, why would anyone take tOSU in this game? I called Penn St blowout. As I was saying.......

  25. Akiem Hicks is playing out of his mind thru 7 weeks. Now, he gets to face the team that drafted and subsequently traded him....and they don't have their best and biggest lineman to block him with. Hicks without extra motivation is in the running for DPOTY, this week should be fun for him.
