  1. With their 2 best hitters out? Likely not.
  2. Rumor has it, Smith will get done by Saturday.
  3. Not anytime soon. 30 of 32 teams haven't even reported to camp yet. He still has plenty of time to work his way into shape and into the starting lineup if necessary. Probably not going to happen until Josh Allen (pick before Smith) signs. FWIW, Smith has the same agent as Joey Bosa who was a long holdout a couple years ago with the Chargers.
  4. So is Kevin Tolliver. He could be nice insurance if our CBs can't stay healthy... which is probable Be really nice if Toliver could become something. One of my biggest issues with the last 2 offseasons is that Pace hasn't brought in any young CB talent. I know he's had a ton of other needs to fill, but the only CB he's drafted in 4 years, is Deiondre Hall who is now a safety. Fuller and Callahan are still young and building blocks, but I would love another high upside CB. We've seen what top CBs have done for defenses like Jacksonville and New Orleans, among others.
  5. I have never seen a worse defensive team in my life.
  6. I can't believe it's 2018 and teams are still playing 4-5 preseason games.
  7. I wanted Parker at the beginning of the offseason. I didn't realize he was more of a 4 than a 3 though, as I haven't seen him play recently like most of the world. But he's still young and not far removed from being a 20ppg scorer, a freshman all American at Duke, and an elite HS recruit. And in every sport, I love taking chances on guys like this if you are a team in a situation like the Bulls are in. The Bulls need a star. Parker has a (slightly) greater than 0% chance of becoming one. If he gets hurt again, you have an even greater than 0% chance of drafting one. No-lose situation, IMO, especially on essentially a 1-year deal.
  8. I also wonder who It Might Be.
  9. With this contract, LaVine will NOT be in the top 40 highest paid players, which seems fair. He's getting paid about the same as George Hill which sounds like a steal. But he's also getting about the same as Jimmy Butler, which makes Andy's statement as accurate as they come.
  10. Damnit Verizon. How do you not alert me of this clearly very major transaction that obviously is huge national news? Was my first thought.
  11. They'll be crazy good, but there's still just one ball and a lot of guys who want to score. And that still doesn't matter. The Warriors would have won the 2019 title easily without Cousins.
  12. It doesn't.
  13. 1. Javy 2. El Mago 3. Baez 4. Javier Baez 5. seriously, just Javy I'm one of those people that rarely has a "favorite" Cub. I typically really love a random player for some unknown reason (Dave Martinez, Shawon Dunston, back in the day). Sammy was the superstar Cub that was definitely my favorite. And you'd think I'd really love Bryant or Rizzo, or fellow Hoosier great, Kyle Schwarber, more than the rest, but I mostly like them all equally. But I realized talking with my son yesterday that Javy is definitely my favorite Cub at this point.
  14. So, just thinking. I know last year they didn't do West vs. East and did team captains with LeBron and Curry. But if they did, it would be a much better game with the West snubs against the East all-stars West All-Star gimmes (if healthy)- LeBron, Curry, Durant, Paul, Harden, Westbrook, Leonard, Davis, Cousins You could have several really good players MISS the AS game from the West. Including: Thompson, Green, Aldridge, Lillard, Towns, Butler, Wiggins, George, Kuzma, Gasol, Conley. Only 3 of these guys can make it to the All-Star game, if we assume the above 9 are locks. Then you still have guys like Lou Williams, McCollum, Mitchell, Jokic, Booker, Murray, etc. who are really good players that will have no shot at making the team. The East isn't terrible, but I think Embiid or healthy Kyrie are the best players and I don't think either is as good as the top 9 players in the West. Embiid Kyrie DeRozan Wall Antetokounmpo Beall Kemba Horford Oladipo Love Simmons Hayward
  15. Our old friend, Edwin Jackson is being called up by the A's, tying an MLB record for playing on his 13th team in his career. Ties Octavio Dotel.
  16. Carlos Boozer was a very good player, especially at his peak with Utah. I'd be more than happy if that were his outcome. That said, it's kind of a weird comp IMO from what I can gather. The comment about the 2010-11 Bulls is pretty weird considering that team had a superstar DRose and probably could've gotten past any non-Heatles team in the East, including the later LeBron Cavs teams. That team legit could've won a title in a non-superteam NBA. billups comps were horsefeathering bonkers all night. They were laughable. Almost every single one of them.
  17. Threw my back out at the gym. Was there to lift weights, did about 1/2 a workout but got hurt just bending over to pick up a 45lb plate, could not stand back up.
  18. The Bulls would definitely still have to trade or sign a dynamic wing player at some point who the offense could flow through and facilitate to fully utilize the Bamba/Markannen front court. I think Bamba can be the 2nd best player for sure on a championship team. Granted, he'd have to hit on a lot of his upside...and he will never be an Option A because he's a big and the game doesn't go thru the post anymore. But regardless, the Bulls are going to need a dynamic wing player. I mean, that's the only way you contend in the NBA. While Porter or Young could potentially be dynamic wing players, I think the odds are very slim that you take one of them and you're a title contender unless they become Durant or Curry, respectively. I think Lauri/Bamba is a potentially wonderful 2/3 option on a title contender. They're not likely to ever get a #1 option unless they sign an already established FA dynamic wing player. And I think the chances of Lauri/Bamba making Chicago an attractive destination for FA dominant wing players > the chances Porter or Young become that dominant wing player.
  19. Who do you want. I by no means follow the draft as closely these days, but had kind of resigned myself to one of Bamba, MPJ, or Young being there at 7 and each offering a similar boom/bust profile (granted all in uniquely different ways). It seems possible a trade up to 4 is for one of these guys. Should I feel strongly enough for 1 over the other 2? Love Porter's upside. But Bamba is the guy for me. He also has a lot of offensive upside, and his downside is being a big time shot blocker and finisher around the rim. Porter's downside is he can't even get on the court. Plus, as much as the Bulls need a big time perimeter scorer, I think a premier big would help quite a bit also and it's harder to find (though both are rare). And if Bamba can develop even half of Embiid's offensive game, then they could have enough on the perimeter with LaVine and some other pieces from pick 22 and some mid-level FAs.
  20. Yeah, I want to move up just so they don't have to "settle" for the 7th of those guys. I want them to go get who they like the most outside of Ayton, who's gone at 1. Not liking the stuff coming out about Porter, about how teams think he'll miss his rookie year. 1. Phoenix- Ayton 2. Sacramento- Bagley 3. Atlanta- Doncic 4. Bulls- Bamba (not sure what it would take, but I'd be willing to take Parsons' deal in order to keep either 22 or Portis). Maybe #4 + Parsons for #7, 2019 top 3 protected pick, Portis? 5. Dallas- Porter 6. Orlando- Young 7. Memphis- Jackson Jr.
  21. This is about where I am. I think if you're the Bulls you gotta make every effort to trade up to 4. Assuming Ayton, Doncic and Bagley are the top 3. I want to be assured of Porter or Bamba (who I am more intrigued by by the day). I don't think you get either sitting at 7. But to me, Porter has to be the pick. If I'm going boom/bust, I want the guy with the offensive talent (in an O driven league) that has injury questions rather than the defensive guy that has offensive questions. Of course, that same logic should make Trae Young pretty intriguing. If Young is the guy, I'd definitely be drinking the Kool Aid that he'd work out and be Steph Curry 2.0. But for whatever reason, I'd also feel better if the Bulls went up and got him at 4. That would show me that they value him a lot and he's the guy they want rather than the guy they settled for at 7.
  22. ARod is so effing awful. Literally everything that comes out of his mouth is nonsense. But you guys can't make me not like Vasgersian. He's goofy, and should probably only call the play-by-play with no deviation, but he has some entertainment value.
  23. Those people all left as NBA fans when Allen Iverson was the face of the league and "thugs" were ruining the game. They don't pay attention to basketball at all.
  24. Hutchison didn't work out at the combine, seems to have a landing spot that he's sure of. I like him a bunch and if we take a big at 7, I'd love him at 22. Kind of agree though, doubt he's there. As a UNC guy, I can't let myself say Allen would be nice at 22. But, I can't argue with anything you said on him and his measurables were excellent, as was his athleticism yesterday. If we go wing at 7, I'd roll the dice on Mitchell Robinson at 22. But, he may not make it that far. Same with Jontay Porter. If Troy Brown is available at 22, I'd be ecstatic. A few others I really like are Jacob Evans, Bruce Brown, Chimezie Metu, and Josh Okogie. But, not at 22, if we trade for an early to mid 2nd. I'm trying to talk myself into Bates-Diop, but I just see rotation upside, even if it's immediate. Love his measureables, but don't know if he can slash or shoot the 3 well enough, to turn into a starter. As a 2nd rounder, I wouldn't hesitate, but I'm currently not a fan of him at 22. LOL. I don't know any of these guys, except for Bates-Diop. And I agree with you on him. He made a huge improvement this year, but still has to do more and he doesn't have enough projectability to me. Rather have a guy that does at least 1 thing really good.
