  1. Killian sucked again.
  2. Happ with his 40th double today. That makes me wonder if he's been a bit unlucky or if his fly balls aren't going as far without the juiced ball. Or a bit of both.
  3. They probably should have at least given him a QO, eh? #-o
  4. They really need to trade off some of their DH/1B guys they have playing out of position right now. They're 20 years behind the curve and stuck in the "horsefeathers defense" mode of team building.
  5. Yeah, everything I've seen says that he'll be left off the 40 man this offseason, but that he probably won't get picked in the rule 5. In fact, I think he's a minor league free agent if he's not put on the 40. He'll need to be re-signed and convinced he's got a real shot to leapfrog all the other OF prospects to get a chance with the Cubs.
  6. Yeah, I'm very interested to hear if there were meaningful adjustments made that led to the breakout. I'm kind of terrified of trading him at this point because if there was an adjustment that led to that second half performance, we could really regret losing him.
  7. Well, horsefeathers.
  8. Yeah, they're both there: https://www.mlb.com/arizona-fall-league/teams/mesa-solar-sox That's quite a recognition for Caissie. Interestingly, I did a quick check to see if his second half numbers were really good to merit his inclusion. Overall season: .349/.402 (obp/slg) Second half: .349/.401 That's...remarkable.
  9. lol - there's way too many posts doing a lineup comparison between teams when the 2022 lineup looks pathetic because Contreras, Suzuki, Hoerner, Madrigal, Wisdom, Reyes and even Ortega are all missing. That's at least 2/3rds of what would be the lineup. Yeah, it's going to look bad.
  10. Just saw that Roederer's hr came off Ben Joyce (the flamethrower from Tenn in the draft this year). Nice.
  11. Ties Mervis for most homers in the system this year (34). lol - you just made Tom's heart skip a beat
  12. Also, Roederer with another shot today.
  13. I'm actually much more hopeful about Canario than I was about Nelson.
  14. Same HR. Impressive power on that swing, tho
  15. And here we are, Bears fans embarrassing themselves.
  16. I keep hearing about the pass totals being low because the run game was so successful. It worked on two drives. The rest of the game it was bad. If the run game were so successful, then they would not have had four 3 and outs.
  17. My company colors have been orange and blue for 20 years now. Go team.
  18. I could swear I remember you obsessing over minor leaguers' home run rates in the past.
  19. One thing to keep in mind when thinking about adding guys to the 40-man roster is that there can be no more than 14 guys on optional assignment or a non-60-day IL at any one time. True - but that doesn't matter in the offseason. During the year I was thinking of it more from the point of view of adding an extra starter with MLB experience through FA or trade to have more certainty in that rotation spot. If you still view Steele as an unknown as a full-load starter, then there's really only Stroman that we can count on in that fashion. Basically, I'm wondering if we should swap out Hendricks for someone with more certainty. But dropping him at the beginning of the offseason also allows us to add another player to the roster for now that could be used in trades during the remainder of the offseason.
  20. I'm not sure that's the case, though. It's been a rough couple of years for Kyle and there's no real guarantee he comes back from this injury in any productive way. His peripherals aren't any better than his actual results, either. His GB% was only 36% this year. His barrel rate the past two years is double what it was in the past. He's flat out been a bad pitcher the past two years. I think it's a very open question as to whether we should expect that to change in 2023.
  21. Cold, hard question for the offseason: Do you DFA Hendricks to free up a 40 man spot for someone that can contribute long-term?
  22. Young pitching looks great today
