    I remember Len & JD debating whether Acuna, Tatis or Soto will have the best overall career. Now Preller just needs to trade for Acuna to have all three!

    I was going to post pretty much the same...LHH too fwtw Other than being a LHH true CF, can you sell me on Phillips? 40% strikeout rate, not a ton of power, not a ton of speed.

    If we're doing tea leaves the Cards passing on Montas plus the Hader deal would make you wonder if the Cards are getting Soto Their athletic beat writer was asked to guess and only had them getting a smallish SP pickup like Wacha or Eovaldi. Feels like unless things develop late with a new SP target(Rodon?) they're about in Soto or bust territory for the deadline, unless they add another reliever on top of Romero. Maybe they could talk the Marlins into a SP? They've worked with them in the past. They could give them Liberatore to pair up with Alcantara

    The timeline is moving a mile a minute right now so I don't know where I saw it, but apparently Breslow was Wesnenski's pitching coach when he was still in the Yankees org. He's definitely got ideas in mind for him, and I'm very interested to see what they are. Moskos, not Breslow.

    Assuming Ferris signs, that gets us to 18 picks out of 20. I'd love to get Wheat & Blatter, also, but that may be asking too much.

    That doesn't mean that there haven't been any discussions at all. It may just mean that there is a large enough gulf between expectations that there was no reason to go further.

    I shook my head when I read this, but now that I look there could be a path. Abrams has been sub-replacement, is currently hurt(albeit a minor injury), Kim is outplaying him this year, and Tatis's return is getting close. If they're a little worried now that he's too swing happy and might be more of an average 2B than playable at SS, that could get you into 'Preller does Preller things' territory. Even moreso if we're talking about a combo deal for Contreras/Happ, Contreras/Robertson, etc. But they have so many other players I'd prefer as a return. Abrams strikes me as just being "better Madrigal". While that's probably not a bad player, it isn't filling any real gaps on this team.

    I'll be a fan of anyone they bring up or bring in. As long as they are good. And I'll be a lot more invested overall if the team wins.

    yep - if they add another receiver they'll accomplish basically everything we wanted them to during the offseason. ehh...did they? let me rephrase... They'll have accomplished the things they most needed to during the offseason. We obviously could have *wanted* them to do more.

    $125k is the maximum that day 3 guys can be paid without it counting toward the overall cap. They can be signed for $1 if they agree to it. But the only reason not to give them the $125k is the org being stingy.
