    I could see Arenado using his opt out if the Cardinals don't quickly put a great team around him. Also he's not the same player away from Coors. Wishful thinking I suppose but I already think the Cubs are looking at another 3rd place finish so whatever.

    The Cubs are doing a solid impression of the Hawks trajectory, minus two championships. The highlight of my sports year was the 6-7 Illini Football team.

    Titans/NE on Saturday Night looks fun. Could be the end of an era.

    They should just make Rizzo the lead off hitter and be done with it. It's fine for stretches but then you lose your most consistent middle of the order bat. Plus he's just a terrible baserunner. I think they hung on to Almora too long. He's the guy I would have traded, and now his value has plummeted. I actually hope they just give the CF job to Happ and let him run with it. Still doesn't solve the leadoff issue though.

    He might be Jon Jay (or worse) but this is the attainable/reasonably priced FA I wanted this offseason. So tired of the revolving door at leadoff and CF. We've never replaced what Fowler gave us in 15/16. Just someone to get on base at a good clip would be huge. What a BS offseason this is. Just a few tweaks was all I was hoping for. FFS!

    Anderson had a fantastic season last year, but seems to be reasonably adequate if he does come back to earth. Eloy looks to be a superstar slugger at 22 years old assuming injuries don't get in his way. Madrigal looks like the old-fashioned gritty 2B (certainly more Nellie Fox than Ryne Sandberg), but he could have a decent ML career. Not sure why you don't like them. Anderson had a good year at the plate but I don't like him defensively. In fact I think they have a number of defensive liabilities. They're going to have to out-slug their competition, which they might be able to do. They've definitely improved but I don't think they're scaring the elite AL teams.

    The White Sox have been busy this offseason. Jerry finally spent a little bit of dough, but they still seem like a fringe WC team to me. Not a huge fan of Anderson, Madrigal or Eloy really.

    I would be pretty excited if he was pitching over Tyler chatwood or Alec mills. This offseason sucks.

    I wish the cubs got him instead. That would be one nasty rotation.

    Those are three fun and good ass players. I’m a new LA resident so maybe they will be my #2 for now. Plus the Seal and Joe but truth be told I was ready to move on from him haha.

    Yeah, Kris Bryant was the biggest grown-up in the room when his service time was being effed with. I know any team would have done the same but he rightfully is suspect of the Cubs and has to be looking at his impeding free agency as a time to get top dollar. I love the guy, but the Cubs ownership and front office are the bad guys and he owes them less than nothing.

    Grandal is a good pickup but then the hilarious, reinsdorfian overpay for the “loyal” guy abreu. Probably couldn’t get half of 50 mil from another team.

    Nagy is an abomination. He ducking sucks ass. And too bad Mitch’s hip injury isn’t of the tua variety.

    Brutal, after a third place finish. This team has so many holes but signing a true big gun like Cole or Strasburg (yeah right to both) would make us contenders again.

    Pretty incredible that the Indians didn’t get an extension done with him. And 7/160 for ozuna?!

    Passing on Beltran in FA single handedly set the Cubs back a decade, single handedly! That offseason I had a custom Beltran Cubs shersey made. Still have it and wear it on occasion!

    Maddon talking about bunting already makes me feel pretty good. Hopefully Ross isn’t so sensitive about stuff like the lineup, too. To me, he is there for all the intangible stuff.
