  1. Javy would have to absolutely light the world on fire (like on an unprecedented level) to get anything but a cup of coffee in September. If he rebounds and does to AAA what he did to AA in the second half last year, the best case scenario I see is maybe a week in late September and with a good ST, breaking camp with the team next spring. However, unless he keeps struggling well into the summer, I don't see them holding him off until June/July of next year just to avoid starting his clock.
  2. I'm still scratching my head over releasing Kottaras. Neither he or Baker hit much (though I'm pretty certain Kottaras has produced more in his 4 PS this year than Bakers has all season), but George at least gets on base.
  3. It seems like very few doubles or triples actually show as going to the wall, and we know many (or most) of them do. And I think MLB gameday is actually worse when it comes to this stuff, with flyouts looking like homers and wall scrapers looking like they were hit to the moon. But yeah, none of it is consistent or particularly reliable.
  4. As long as the ball eventually reaches the wall that dot is going to be at the wall, right? Or does it mean that is where it made contact with the ground? I pretty sure it's the latter.
  5. A bit late, but here's Alcantara's HR from yesterday, and it was indeed murdered (off Neftali Feliz, fwiw): http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=32988245&sid=milb
  6. Pretty sure that's Rizzo, Castro and Barney on the left. Can't tell who is on the right, though.
  7. And just when I thought I couldn't hate him any more than I do.
  8. Soler pulled from the game mid-inning after making a play in RF.
  9. It's a spectrum. Vizcaino is back, but he's a reliever and not because his stuff isn't good enough. Other guys may lose velocity, or have to adjust their repertoire to avoid throwing a certain pitch or pitch mix. Others still will just be the guys more prone to other injuries that don't necessarily require TJS. Taking Hoffman at a discount would make some sense at 19 or maybe even 13, but at 4 it's a very bad idea. Hudson was hardly the first pitcher to need a second TJS, either. Medlen and Jarrod Parker just this year.
  10. If you google image search professor parks, the second pic is of Baez. I had to see a pic because the one Tangled posted is just too perfect to be true.
  11. That's pretty much what I figured was going on with him, and I think this was a foreseeable phase. At some point his aggressiveness was going to be turned against him, and either he's going to learn to rein it in or he'll bust. But fortunately he's still quite young, and there's plenty of time. Either way, I doubt we see him in Chicago this year. It's hard to tell sometimes because of the relative lack of information from the minors, but my impression (and somebody correct me if I'm way off base here) is that his strikeout issues and Bryant's are of a different nature. That is to say Bryant seems more disciplined but strikes out on more pitches in the zone (looking or swinging), whereas Baez's are largely a product of a lack of plate discipline. I'm not sure which concerns me more, long term.
  12. I'd wager that virtually no one here is content with how things are progressing (god knows I'm not), and it is possible to be discontent (or angry, even) with how things are going and not attempt to turn every single discussion into a referendum on how shitty "the plan" is. You can, but it's useless and makes you look like a petulant tool. But it feels like some people aren't going to be happy until everyone is reduced to the same level of childish discomposure. Misery loves company, I guess. There's a lot of middle ground between being vociferously angry at every turn and being a Pollyanna-ish FO apologist who has deluded themselves into being happy with how things are going (in fact, I'd be surprised if any of the latter even exist here).
  13. NFL draft is the independent variable there, not winning or losing. I am not an NFL guy, so I may be missing something...but why do people love to watch the draft? We were able to watch the game and switch over between innings and catch all that was actually happening. Cannot imagine listening to Boomer, Lewis, Gruden and Kiper blather could be that insightful. Yeah, I watch it, but I just end up getting irritated by how long it takes, and then by the fact I have to wait until the next day for more picks. The only thing that kept me watching past the Bears pick last night was seeing how far Manziel would fall.
  14. The primetime and multiple day airing has killed my enthusiasm. The draft is ideal saturday afternoon background noise in the spring. But it blows as primetime television and spread across half a week. The fact that it is May has nothing to do with it for me. Yeah, the NFL has made such an overwrought production of the draft that it is a total turnoff. Having only one round on the first day is a total joke. I completely agree about it being ideal as one day weekend thing. I just want to know who picked who, there's absolutely no need for all the pomp.
  15. The day after he hit a HR? oooooh, he did? Bump the OPS back over 600? Better than Olt. Olt's been terrible, but whatever Vitters gives you over him offensively, he's going to give back in the field. And as bad as Olt has been, he's been better than what Vitters showed in his MLB stint. They're both bad, but Vitters is still a worse option.
  16. Is it Sweeney? He's been hitting the ball hard, but into a lot of bad luck. Schierholtz is batting 5th, Sweeney 6th and then Castillo. Sweeney/Castillo/Schierholz would be fine, too. Ugh, yeah, Nate has been wretched. I was really hoping he was going to get traded last year, when he had value.
  17. I don't know about all time, but I'm definitely a big fan.
  18. What? People gave you [expletive] for that? Yeah, that's crazy talk. On a semi-related note, Prepon is dating Tom Cruise now, apparently. That has to make for an odd looking couple. wtf She's a scientologist, too. At this point his options are probably limited to the crazy pool.

  20. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/21/09/08/2109080222674932d57ab447a3ec474e.jpg I'm sticking with Dina. Not really fair to not show her mams Probably not, but face-wise, that's a no contest in favor of Dina, imo.
  21. None from me. My best friend growing up was obsessed for a bit, but I never saw it. The only girl on that show that I paid any mind to was Lori Laughlin. Which is saying something because if I'm being honest, I had a thing for a good number of the girls mentioned here. I mean, I was a tween/teenage boy. Even though her TV character was a turn-off, Christina Applegate would be high on my list. And I don't even like blondes all that much.
  22. Me either. It seems like she was one of those that you either were totally into or completely indifferent about.
