  1. K rates? 17.9% for Braun, 18.1% for Longoria. EDIT: dammit
  2. I hate to agree with Kyle even a little, but just about everything in his numbers suggests that Lake's performance (which as been decent, but not great) is unsustainable. That said, there's enough potential there that given the lack of alternatives, there's also very little reason not to let him play until time and regression to the mean bear that out. Regardless of the reasons, he's been decent, and I have no problem with him playing until he ceases to be. Who knows, he might even make some adjustments and be useful in the long term.
  3. He can get the boot for all I care, so long as he helps facilitate this thing getting through first.
  4. If that's at Wrigley, that has to be awfully close to the rooftops. Probably, but it's hard to tell. Once the cameras switched, I couldn't see the ball anymore. If no one said where it landed, I would have had no idea. But since it left the entire park, over the second deck and signage, you'd have to imagine it would have at least struck one of the Waveland buildings, if not landed on top.
  5. When he babysat us in our youth, my brother used to make us liverwurst sandwiches on white bread with mayo and lettuce. It's terrible stuff, but every once in a great while I'll make one for nostalgia's sake. And a bite or two in I regret it completely. Pretty much all organ meat or organ meat products are gross, imo. Foie Gras may be the lone exception, but only in tiny doses.
  6. Theo wants to rip Lucchino off... but Lucchino doesn't want to rip Theo off? I don't think Lucchino could pull it off. Cherington might be able to, but Lucchino would over-involve himself, as has been his wont. Regardless, I'd be surprised if any substantial business gets done between the Cubs and Sox.
  7. I know MILB teams aren't awash in money, but you'd think they could at least afford video cameras that don't produce video so poor that makes it seem like they were salvaged from a 70's porn outfit.
  8. What would Manziel being doing with pics of Clowney's shlong? Is there some kind of Brett Favre inspired CFB star penis pic sharing program? Is it something Heisman candidates share? If you're going to make [expletive] up, at least make it plausible.
  9. Give it a little time. Kerry Wood is the guy I really wanted to see get a ring, but the longer some of these guys are here, the better the chances the same kind of attachment forms. As far as the Bears go, it would be awesome to see them win another SB (I was too young to appreciate 1985 in any significant way), but Cutler takes so much [expletive] that it would be hugely gratifying to see him get a SB win just to spite the haters. It'd be satisfying on multiple levels. But I would be fine with the NFL folding tomorrow if it guaranteed a Cubs WS win. For me, no other possible achievement for any of my favorite teams, singularly or even combined, could even approach the significance of a Cubs World Series win. It is the holy grail of my sports world.
  10. I wish. Why? We're both douchey annoying baseball fans who spend too much time on the internet. He's doing it better. Ask him for a job. Yeah, I'm sure Kyle would make a fine sycophant for Parks.
  11. Think about the name of the ballpark and it'll come to you.
  12. Bryant's K rate is still pretty high. I'd have him neck and neck with Baez at this point, but I don't think it's inconceivable that he might run into similar issues at AAA.
  13. I didn't notice it happening to the Blackhawks because hockey is irrelevant.
  14. Yeah, the I-Cubs seem to like tuning him up.
  15. 1-4, but looks like Bryant is going to get through a game without a K.
  16. If he maims Barney with a liner, we can all celebrate.
  17. He'll be non-tendered this coming offseason, at least.
  18. Because he wasn't traded when he had value. Like Schierholtz. Now no one wants him.
  19. Yes. He's pitched in the last four games, and four out the last five days.
  20. I know there was an off day, but is this third consecutive game Rondon has had an appearance?
  21. To be clear, that is exactly what I thought going into the year. "Thinking he is ready" is a nebulous concept. It is almost June and his season has been terrible so far. I don't see how a great month or two will suddenly convince anybody that he has to be in the majors and is just wasting his time in AAA. It would fit in with his development path so far though. Struggles for two months, figures something out, and then destroys a league for 1.5-2 months. My guess is that he'll be up in September, unless he has an absolutely terrible year in AAA. It does, but he hasn't struggled this badly or for quite this long before. But he is showing signs that he's finally adjusting to the different approach AAA pitchers are taking with him. If he does fully, I don't think there is much point in keeping him in AAA. But it will take the rest of the season to bear all that out, probably.
