  1. The only surgery Z needs is some sort of brain augmentation.
  2. i'll defend z and say that his gestures seemed to be saying "you're right, i deserved to be booed" That was my interpretation as well.
  3. Hopefully it will when someone besides Jim Hendry is handing out the 100 mil. That would be nice.
  4. Not that it really matters because Z is dead set on blowing this game as much as he possibly can. It matters win or lose. 1.5 is better than .5, even if 2.5 is better.
  5. Because Turnbow sucked today? You'd think they would have brought in Cordero, since there were 2 outs, but I'm not complaining. Thanks, Yost.
  6. Pence scores on a passed ball, 8-7 Astros.
  7. Pence triples in 2, tied at 7-7.
  8. How many more years are we gonna keep saying that? Isn't he still our youngest starter? Marshall? Is Marshall younger? I really don't know. Barely, but yes.
  9. Shhh! Don't stop them from clogging the bases.
  10. Care to explain why? Marshall needs a break. He's been awful for about a month now, and has been getting progressively worse over the past 2-3 months. Trachsel is bad, but not as bad as Marshall was in August. Marshall missing a couple starts may be a long term benefit, if he can come back refreshed.
  11. You'd literally be able to hear the grit and the scrap grinding together.
  12. I do know that if someone had a penchant for coming in way too hard, I would not be above buzzing their head with the throw to send a message. I get really defensive of my knees/lower legs.
  13. There have been 3 No-Hitters THIS YEAR Not often a 1-AA team beats Michigan in the Big House You can't divide it into just Michigan though, no rookie SP has thrown a no hitter for Boston ever as far as I know, I mean if you break it down by team its just as amazing. Some guy threw a no hitter in his 2nd start ever, that is amazing. Some overrated football team lost a game early, big whup. But thats just me. Hell, the Cards have had 2 rookie no-hitters the past 8 years.....shouldn't surprise anyone though, that damned franchise. And both of those pitchers went straight into the toilet, which is some consolation.
  14. In case you hadn't noticed, the Cubs are in first place going into the last month of the season, being trailed by one team that is at least just as flawed and another that is far more flawed. When it comes to playoff chances, how good the Cubs are relative to the teams in their own division is the only thing that matters. Whether you find it amusing or not, the odds are in favor of the Cubs making the postseason, thus necessitating a postseason roster, which it seems to me is worthy of at least some discussion. I'm glad you are amused, though.
  15. He's an offensive catcher you know. Just ask him.
  16. No-hitters happen every year. No-hitters by rookies even happen occasionally. Yes ranked teams lose early every year also but to 1-A teams. This is the first time in the history of the 1-A/1-AA split that a 1-AA team has beaten a ranked 1-A team. At the very least it was one of the top-5 upsets in college football and was probably the biggest upset in the history of college football. I really wasn't shocked, nor am I now that Michigan lost. Pleasantly surprised, but not shocked. Michigan was very overrated, and Appalachian State is probably better than 20% of D1 teams. If it were USC or something, that would be shocking.
  17. http://www.baltimoresun.com/media/photo/2005-06/18124597.jpg "I agree." http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pics/dave_martinez_autograph.jpg "Me too!" http://imagesource.allposters.com/images/pic/PHO/821494~Don-Zimmer-2004-Studio-Plus-Photofile-Posters.jpg "Best piece I ever had." http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nl/chicubs/caray.jpg "Holy Cow!" ROTFL
  18. I agree, the line has to be drawn somewhere. I didn't see the play in question, but I have seen quite a few ridiculous takeout "slides" recently.
  19. I think Cal has the best chance to topple USC. I hope they do, anyway.
