  1. Nah. This doesn't have the same soul-crushing edge as other games... ...yet. We'd have to take another lead and lose it to qualify, IMO.
  2. Jones anything but an out for me Yeah, anything that scores a run.
  3. You know he's a main reason we're still playing right? Of course. Reverse jinx.
  4. If you can gidp with 2 outs, DeRo will find a way.
  5. Meh. He's just over-managing because this offense sucks, and he's trying everything he can to get a run in. It's not his fault there aren't good players on this team. Now the rest of his managing... But there are good players on this team. That's the frustrating part.
  6. He did that for most of the year, and it didn't work out so well. Nothing seems to work, and it's frustrating as hell.
  7. Thats umm a lil harsh dont you think? I agree with Keener. Id be perfectly happy with paralysis. Paralysis is probably worse. Wishing either is ridiculously inappropriate.
  8. What's the difference? We're not going to score either way. I don't know, and Lou probably doesn't either. He didn't sacrifice much earlier in the season, and I think this is really a product of the prodigious number of Cubs' gidp's lately.
  9. At the rate this team grounds into dp's, I'd sacrifice too. Especially with guys like Kendall who hit tons of grounders.
  10. He's sacrificing because every player on this team seems prone to gidp's.
  11. IF the Cubs lose, it won't even be in the top 5 worst defeats of the season. You're right of course, but that doesn't make me any less pissed off about you saying it. Based on the situation and time of year, I feel it will. But then again, any loss from this point forward might feel that way. If you take the situation out of each game, I'll say that Dempster's implosion against the Mets is the worst defeat of the year for me. Yeah, it was. The game where Z imploded against the Reds sucked, too. And that last BS against the Dodgers really stung, IMO. I tent to look at it in an "every game counts" way. Every game you win in April/May/June is a game you don't "have" to have down the stretch.
  12. IF the Cubs lose, it won't even be in the top 5 worst defeats of the season.
  13. He's not nearly as clueless as Dusty.
  14. Look at Soto's numbers and explain to me why he's not the starting catcher, look at Murton's numbers and explain to me why Cliff Floyd is still getting a lot of playing time.... basically what it all comes down to is that the Cubs are incompetent, and while it's not as bad as during the Dusty era, the veteran fetish is still alive and well. Sadly I know. Exhibit B: ](*,) At least Lou's acknowledging Soto may be the better player. Dusty would have scoffed at the notion, and Geo would have been buried behind Kendall and Blanco.
  15. Yeah, those bums Fielder, Braun, Hart and Hardy are a bunch of busts. Gallardo, too. Other teams should consider themselves fortunate not to have such rotten luck.
  16. Not even Manny Ramirez did something that bad. The Pujols one from a couple seasons back was pretty close, though. If he wasn't so arrogant he would be thanking his lucky stars the next pitch he saw didn't end up in his ear.
  17. I've lived with girlfriends a couple times before. It doesn't always work out, but it is really the best way to find out how compatible two people really are. It's better to find out you can't stand living with someone before you actually get engaged/married, IMO.
  18. That isn't the point. Beside the fact that Soriano only does it occasionally, and what Braun did was far more gratuitous than even Sammy's hop, all of the players you mentioned, along with Pujols, Manny, etc. had established a track record of performance before they first started posing. Even Pujols and Soriano have recently been admonished for that behavior, and they have done far, far more at this level than Braun has. Braun has had a great rookie campaign, but he is still a rookie. He's lucky he didn't get drilled in the head. That was easily one of the most gratuitous poses I have ever seen.
  19. Give me a break. Did Sosa, or Palmeiro, or anyone do this? Why does Ankiel get burdened with it? He needs to come out with an apology for a report? It hasn't even been investigated yet. Stunning conviction within 24 hours of first report. Stunning. What would Palmeiro say? He was caught lying. He ran like a scalded dog. Sosa was never caught, or even linked to PED's (though most people have little doubt he used them). Ankiel's reputation is kaput. Whether he used them or not, when he used them, etc. are sadly irrelevant at this point. The same applies to Glaus. Of course the players probably all know better, but as far a the media and public are concerned it's a done deal. People suspect everyone, and clamor for even a shred of evidence. Unfortunately, this constitutes far more than a shred. All that warm, fuzzy comeback story mojo? Gone. Sad but true.
