  1. They put up the stats that showed Gordon had 10X the rebounds that Wallace had. That's when I rolled my eyes and turned off the game. I didn't even need to watch last night to know they'd lose. That's how horrible it has become. I don't know what the hell they think they're doing, but it's turning into a trainwreck in record time. They're going to lose the next game, too. Are you really ready for what? 0-7? 1-10? Oh, I think it's long past time to panic.
  2. Still, it feels like one little breeze can blow you right off. That's fencing? You could trip over that thing!
  3. Wouldn't it be great if Selig put word in with Trump that he wouldn't be confirmed, and then Trump came out in the press and attacked him? "The thing about this Selig character, he's a LOSER. He's lost in everything he's ever tried to do. Total failure." Priceless.
  4. I can think of some better things to put up there than a silly tennis court, that's for sure.
  5. While Lee had a down year defensively, I don't think it was due a erosion of skills. He seemed to just botch more routine plays rather than not be able to make tough ones. Cards tanked badly. Pujols also had a down year, albeit still excellent. Since the GG is often about more than the actual defensive performance, the fact that the Cubs made the playoffs and the Cards collapsed and were gone in Sept. probably factored in. Derrek did have 1 fewer error than Pujols (7 vs. 8), FWIW. Fielding pct. pretty much the same. I know these aren't the best stats, but I'll bet many voters look at them.
  6. So you're saying they are going to build a baseball field on top of the tower....pure genius! http://www.designverb.com/wp-content/images/2006/09/highesttennis07.jpg Hey, it worked for the Burj Al Arab in Dubai with a tennis court. Wow, Back...back, back and the ball....and the Outfielder are gone! Yeah, I don't see any serious fencing on that thing either. Gives me the willies just thinking about it. You better be *real* sure where the baseline is. Those skyscraper parachuters are probably salivating though.
  7. Oh, haha. You misunderstood. He meant the BEER BUYING rotation for poker.
  8. I don't see how Selig could justify saying Cuban is not a good fit for MLB ownership, and then turn around and approve none other than Donald Trump. That would probably rank up there on the all time hypocrisy list if he did that.
  9. Cool. Hopefully they'll implement it well.
  10. The only thing I can possibly think of is to clear 40 man space from players they didn't want anymore anyway and didn't have much trade value (Moore had some, Cherry probably didn't have much at all) but throwing Renshaw in even hurts that argument. It was a bad deal no matter what, and it's hard to say if it was a bad deal or an absolutely horrific deal. I would lean towards bad because I don't think the players the Cubs gave up are going to turn out to be much in the major leagues, and the 40 man space did help a little bit. Renshaw does start to push it towards absolutely horrific though. Yeah, I'm pretty steamed about this one. But at the same time, it's like..........this is just par for the course, you know?
  11. I hate dealing with the Devil Rays. Is everyone ready for them to "mull over" this deal for many months, ask for the moon and the stars, and then finally after stringing us along until April, nix it entirely?
  12. That may be true, but even 3 bums off the street for Trax would be pushing it. 3 actual prospects for him is insane. I don't think there was a single person on this site who could figure out why this deal was even made in the first place. How come everyone on the planet knows it's insanity from the outset but Hendry still can't figure out he's been raped even months afterwards? Answer me that.
  13. Williams does have 8 letters in it. I don't think this is it at all. I heard they are suppose to announce the names (McCarthyism galores) after the Winter Meetings. This way George Mitchell can tell the Sox who to sign and the other teams get stuck with the 25 to 50 game suspension guys. Yeah, no kidding. I'm amazed at the amount of ire that the Times drew for pointing out the obvious conflicts of interest with Mitchell doing this investigation while maintaining his affiliation with the Red Sox.
  14. This sort of makes sense since Trump is building a tower right in downtown Chicago (or is it finished now??) If Trump and Cuban get into it, there's going to be entertainment like you cannot believe.
  15. Are these the "big names" that Mitchell was going to publicly out? If so, it's a big, fat "meh"
  16. When's the last time we had an entertaining Monday night game? I turned Steelers/Ravens off hours ago. It wasn't even a particularly attractive matchup to begin with, from my perspective. I really don't enjoy watching the Ravens play football.
  17. He'd definitely provide some extra-curricular entertainment at some point in the season. If Z & Milton ever got mad at each other the resulting fireworks might bring down Wrigley.
  18. I think every 5th post in this thread should contain some semblance of the words: Adrian Peterson is awesome. Too bad he's a Viking. But that kid is amazing. To me that was the bigger story this weekend. Bigger than Pats/Colts. This kid is the 2nd coming of Jim Brown, he's dominating the hell out of teams single-handedly, and they know he's coming too.
  19. Unreal. Cue the Twilight Zone music, man. Traded 2, 3 players for 1 win and several losses. And that's a GOOD thing. ](*,)
  20. Somebody better start doing something. If this continues I could easily see Kobe just saying "screw it" --- who wants to come to a team that started 1-10, maybe what? 5-20? Who knows where this crap is heading? Kobe's really driving this thing. He might very well just pull out and stay with the Lakers, making all this trade talk moot.

    The NBA thread

Well nobody visits SCH, so I just wanted to say the Bulls suck donkey balls. That is all.
  22. Give them Hinrich please. He is overrated as hell. Tunovers, cant shoot, and cant stay out of foul trouble. Please take him LA He's Pax and Skile's boy. Skiles might be losing a little patience with him. He semi-called him out in today's papers. I'm losing patience with him too. How many years in the league now? Still can't stay out of foul trouble, still with the stupid turnovers all the damn time? I want to like the kid, but I think he's maxxed out now and the end result just isn't all that great. I view him as a good complimentary player, not much more.
  23. Bibby's not that great any more. I don't see how he improves the Cavs much anyway, but I think all this stuff is just people popping off without really knowing anything of substance.
  24. wow, i can't believe that a guy whose job required him to work 125 hour weeks was less than a model parent I'm willing to bet his wife doesn't work at all. Still it was a family choice that allowed them to become multi-millionaires. If the house was that bad then he had to just be turning his head to what was going on. They can't use work as an excuse for being a horrible parent. It's hard to believe that Reid would have allowed that to happen in his house, regardless of how many hours he worked. If there were indeed drugs laying out in the open, then I just can't see how there could be any excuse. He had to have known something. Parenting, and just housekeeping in general, must be pretty low on Reid's priority list.
  25. Mets for those of you who weren't -14 in 1969. Sadly, the realignment has all but killed that once incredibly heated rivalry. It was close to Cubs/Cards levels at one time. aye, I hated the Mets much more than the Cards growing up Me too. Still do. Probably always will. Me too and it wasn't even close to any other team. Not being from Chicago I never realized there was a rivalry between the Cubs/Cards and never understood the Brock trade thing until I found out how these two groups of fans felt. Take away the SD playoffs debacle, and 1984 Cubs was probably the most incredible I've felt as a sports fan. The games we played against the Mets that year were just amazing. I don't remember how many bench-clearing brawls there were, but I think 3 or 4 over the course of the season. Amazing. And they had the division lead that year, and we took it away. It was '69 revenge, just soooo sweet. It's too bad we couldn't close the deal in the playoffs.
