  1. Our soldiers dont deserve to be depicted this way, its beyond upseting its sickening. Cuban funded the production of this movie to the tune of 5 million dollars. He's done some backtracking on it lately though and had pieces of it edited. Maybe you should ready the blog entry on blogmaverick.com about this before freaking out. And as an aside, those particular soldiers absolutely deserve that type of depiction. Only 2 hits for "redacted" on it, and neither is really to the point, other than that he doesn't think it will have any negative effect. They will, however, hear a lot about the film on various local tv stations. Kind of amusing that hollywood keeps putting out anti-war flops. I just don't think that they're a big deal. Propaganda is not something these people are short on. I think he's referring to this one: http://www.blogmaverick.com/2007/11/11/bill-oreilly-just-a-wonderful-confused-guy/ The first part of it is about O'Reilly, who big suprise has begun attacking Cuban over the move. But the second part gives Cuban's take on what the movie is about from his point of view.
  2. Often times the SEC rep finds themselves playing what I would term a "semi-home" game, or in front of a 70/30 split fanbase in favor. I still feel it's the best conference, but it should be noted everyone heads to warm weather for the bowls.
  3. Yeah, as it turns out, if you'd beaten Iowa, you'd be going to the Rose Bowl regardless of UM/OSU. Thanks. You just made me cry 8-)
  4. And Kyle Hudson. So frustrating that we should be pretty much locked into a BCS right now. Better days are coming. This team is coming back next year, really the only missing element is consistency. It wasn't the same team that took the field vs. Iowa as it was vs. OSU. And I believe the Buckeyes must come to UI next year

Wiki says (grain of salt added) Cuban asked that some particularly graphic footage be removed to spare the families grief. I know nothing about this, so I guess I'll wait to see the thing before passing judgement.
  6. Braun's numbers were insane for a rook. I don't think it's an outrage for him to win ROY.
  7. What the hell? Please do tell. I feel like I live in a vacuum now.
  8. They should try losing less games if they want to be in the top ten then. So you would rather them go 10-0 against the 97th best schedule than 7-3 against the best schedule? why don't we wait till the end of the season before we criticize KU's overall schedule. Their SOS will climb considerably if they beat OU/Mizzou. And people act like we purposely scheduled 11 patsies. Coming into the season, Nebraska, OSU, aTm, and KSU were all supposed to be formidable opponents. And when we scheduled Toledo and CMU, they were bowl teams. Toledo had a 10-win season. And for what it's worth, I think we could play with Florida. You act like they're some kind of juggernaut. If they were really that good, they'd be a one-loss team like LSU. I already know they wont beat OU and Mizzou. The fact is they have played a schedule equivalent to the schedule of Florida Atlantic and UAB's. If UAB or FAU were undefeated today where would they rank? Probably the same place as Hawaii. Kansas isnt good. You guys arent getting the probabilistic distribution of wins People are rooting for them because they want to see something they haven't seen before. There's no denying they aren't a great team, but it's fun to root for them even though you're right, they will probably lose.
  9. If they only could have eeked out that win against Mizzou... Then of course the Iowa debacle, that's what really hurt.
  10. I'll make a wager that Auburn will beat a Pac-10, Big East, Big Ten, Big Twelve, ACC school in their bowl game. Who wants it?..free month of premium.. One of the last place teams in the Big East already beat them in Auburn so it has to one of the other conferences turn. lol..true, true. I assure you I'd love to see an Auburn - Big East matchup in the bowl game. Did you watch the Auburn - S. Florida game, Cuse? After that game I thought S. Florida was going to break out this year like nobody's busines. But then the 3 game losing streak, with losses to Rutgers and Cincy......they have a losing conference record at the moment too. I was expecting more from them this year.
  11. I don't know, I seem to remember the Colts beating up on the Bears in the "elements". Any of the Top AFC teams would have done that. I'm talking about trying to win the AFC more than anything. Ouch. Your words. The cut like sharpened steel :P
  12. Someone enlighten me. This thing sells out really quick every year, so obviously there's tons there that is great to see. But what? Is it just alot of autograph lines (not something that would entice me), or are there cool presentations or other fun things to do? I'm sure the convention is great, but ummm.......Chicago in January/Feb not exacly my idea of a fun vacation destination if you know what I mean. And I think plenty of people fly in for the convention.
  13. I think alot of it has to do with how conservative the game of baseball is to change. Obviously baseball's belligerence to change can be a bad thing (segregation), but one of the game's most enduring qualities is how conservative it is and how it is basically an antiquated game being played in modern times. But I think you're right, it probably is a non-issue. Really, how much camera time is devoted to the umps at the bases anyway? Not much. But yeah, this strikes me as something people will debate for awhile, and then forget about.
  14. That's a lot of players out. Funny how Manning throws 5 picks with a crappy team. He's a heck of a QB but you have to have talent around you. That's the thing about turf teams, when the elements turn bad you struggle a lot more than most teams. The Pats have a free ride if they play the Colts, especially if the weather turns bad. The thing I would be worried about if I was the Colts is that alot of these injuries sometimes linger, because you either hold a guy out until it's fully healed or else it becomes a "nagging" injury week to week because really, what injuries are there that don't require at least 3-4 weeks to fully, fully heal? That seems to me to be the issue. Once you get the injury bug, it's really hard to get rid of it. And I agree, if the Colts go to the Pats and the weather is bad, it's going to be really tough for them. That defense knows what it means to play in the cold & snow, the Colts can't be ready for that especially if there are lingering injuries.
  15. It always helps when a team will take your one good player and trade you all of theirs in return \:D/
  16. Marvin did not play, or at least I didn't remember seeing him. It was Wayne, Thorpe, and some guy named Moorehead (any relation to the ex Bear player, I wonder)? It was basically Wayne + practice squad players, and I saw a couple times Wayne pulling a Moose and re-positioning guys on the field and everything. They were playing down bare bones. My understanding is their OLine was a skeleton crew as well, and I don't recall seeing Dallas Clark either. Plus it was raining, and Addai clearly doesn't understand either that you need to wear bigger cleats or that you can't cut normally in that kind of weather. He was slipping down regularly.
  17. If Tennessee loses out, Phil Fulmer may be looking for another job. And if Fulmer is, David Cutcliffe would also become available as well as John Chavis. I doubt we lose out, though. Wow....imagine Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska and UCLA all looking for coaches. The coaching carousel could be crazy. More than that. Possible openings: Michigan Tennessee Nebraska Texas A&M Arkansas UCLA Pitt? Arizona? This guy needs to be fired. Dennis Franchione has had nationally respected recruiting classes and has underperfomed every single year. He doesnt need to leave the state for recruits either so its not like its hard to recruit kids to stay in Texas. Wandstant and Turner (SD) went to the same school of coaching. Why either has a head coaching job is beyond me. On that we can agree. I think both are shining examples of what a Super Bowl ring can do for your career. I believe both got theirs as coordinators though; there's never been any evidence either guy is capable of effectively running a football team.
  18. Pretty obvious what's wrong with the Colts. They started Craphonso Thorpe last night, right? Ok then, end of discussion 8-) And we didn't even talk about their OLine.
  19. With Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Zook's players. I feel obligated to bring this up anytime Meyer's title is mentioned since Weis has been absolutely roasted for only winning with Ty's players (ignoring that a good portion of the ND depth chart is still Ty's, would be more if he'd bothered recruiting for his last two offseasons). Speaking of, Ty's only good season at ND's helm came with Bob Davie's players, yet another thing that is conveniently ignored when this discussion comes up. I'm not trying to say Weis deserves outlandish praise or anything of the sort. I'm just saying anyone who says ND is hypocritical for firing Ty and keeping Weis is ignoring about a hundred other facts. I agree that Weis shouldn't be fired. I'm not convinced Ty should have been fired yet - I think he should have been given another year - and I don't think Weis deserves to get canned. My main point was that the comparison to Urban Meyer is invalid. Meyer's recruits have also been very good players for the most part, Florida has yet to have a truly bad season - this year's three losses is their worst under Meyer. You mentioned he won the title with mostly Zook's players and that's true, but I guarantee you they don't sniff a national title without Tim Tebow - a Meyer recruit. They probably fired Zook too soon strictly speaking, but honestly I'm not sure what they were supposed to do. The entire fan base + alumni were screaming at them to fire the guy. The campaign against Zook reached legendary status, I'm not sure there's ever been such a concerted effort to get a coach canned. I view it as a situational thing. Zook wasn't right for Florida, the stakes are too high there from the outset and Zook is the kind of guy that needs to recruit his players, let them develop, and then hopefully win a few years down the line. That just wasn't going to fly in Florida, but a place like Illinois will allow that to happen since the Illini really couldn't have been any worse anyway. And plus, if Zook can put in 3 loss seasons regularly @ IL he'll probably have a job forever. If Meyer continues to put in 3 loss seasons, he'll be canned too just like Zook. That right there illustrates how different the two situations are.
  20. I think I posted in a different thread that I'm convinced it's all about opening up the closer spot as they negotiate with Wood. OK, that's bush league though. You could keep something like that behind closed doors. Why box the entire organization into an important decision like that with 5 months to go before opening day? Now if they make further changes and Demp isn't a starter, they look like liars.
  21. My God, tonight's Monday night matchup is horrible.
  22. Heheh. Well, you don't deserve to win if you toss 5 INTs though. Chargers seemed way too eager to give this one away.
  23. Wow. Well, this was an entertaining Sunday night game, that's for sure.
  24. Apparently Addai just can't get it through his head that he can't cut like he does back at the dome in this weather.
  25. I'm wondering how come the Chargers can't get a pass rush with Indy's line decimated.
