  1. Ouch man. That gives me goospimples watching it.
  2. You're right. Pax is wise to put the ball in the Lakers' court though, if that's what he's doing. Because I think we can all agree the Lakers need this thing, and we really don't. I know we need to find a way to improve this ballclub, but other possibilities might exist for us down the road, where for the Lakers, Kobe has precious few safe harbors to query and nobody seems to want him in L.A. anymore.
  3. I think if he is going to do this I'd do it early. It took too long for Melo and AI to get it together and I think it would take some time for the Bulls and Kobe to mesh too. Sure, and if we can get Kobe for what the Nuggets gave up for AI, I'd do it too. There's a difference between being "gunshy" and being unwilling to get raped. The Nuggets didn't have to give up their other top player, that was the whole reason that deal even happened. That wasn't my point Soul. I was talking about having the players mesh together, not about how the deal itself is structured. OK. Well -- if we trade Gordon, Deng, TT, and Hinrich for Kobe, then we can all look forward to Kobe meshing together with the likes of Gray, Sefolosha, and Chris Duhon. Might need quite a bit of time for that chemistry to kick in, LOL. BALCO can help you with the chemistry part. Just call 1-800-BARROID. I think after this week of swirling trade rumors, I'm going to call J.D. instead 8-)

  5. Haha. I think that's really overblown. I realize it was bad timing, but I don't think it deserves the hatred it received. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's Boston that is so upset about this, and ESPN's reporters have been the ones almost exclusively ragging on & on about it. I know a couple days ago Greenie was saying he thought the entire thing was overblown, too. What did he say to Gammons?

  7. It appears like it is a classic stalemate then. Unless the Lakers are willing to accept less than full value in return, it's not gonna happen with the Bulls. I don't know if any other team would be able to, I hear no -- but who really knows? I'm just glad Pax isn't willing to part with all his pieces just for one piece. That would accomplish nothing, would probably make us a worse team not better, and would likely lead to an unhappy Kobe anyway, which would put us in the same nightmarish position the Lakers are in right now.
  8. I don't blame the Cubs for not getting in to the discussions if it's 12 years @ 30 million per. I mean come on, I don't care how good the guy is, he'll be freaking 44 years old making 30 million. That's completely ridiculous, it's an albatross waiting to happen. Somewhere off in the distance, Texas screams "DON'T DO IT!!" I'm not sure if the BoSox would even do *that*. Reeeeeeee-diculous. Perhaps ARod should be looking for jobs as a CEO of an oil company. This is too much money for Jesus Christ, much less a mere mortal.
  9. Now we get to see just how much of that magic pixie dust the Cards have laying around
  10. Mets for those of you who weren't -14 in 1969. Sadly, the realignment has all but killed that once incredibly heated rivalry. It was close to Cubs/Cards levels at one time.
  11. Sure. If I cheated the game and now wanted to have my cake and eat it too, I'd probably be out there popping off as if I was squeaky clean.
  12. Really? I'm not frustrated with Pax at all. Giving up all our players for Kobe would be a bad idea. Unless we can somehow get Kobe without giving up our team, we're going to wind up with a worse ballclub than we have right now. I'm glad Pax isn't giving in to this.
  13. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=68887 The local beat writers are running with that. All he said was that nothing was happening "for now." In fact, I think the Trib article even left that part out. This is just Pax's way of trying to quell some of the speculation/rumors. I guarantee that talks are ongoing. LA wants to rid themselves of this problem. The entire front office is unanimous in that. Obviously, just like Bernsie said, some real info got out. That's what Pax is peeved about. If it were really fiction, he wouldn't care. How many rumors aren't there out there that are totally false and never get commented on? Something true was leaked and obviously they weren't happy about it. That's why Pax came out and said what he did. I also think it's a little bit of playing hardball with LA through the media. I don't believe for one second that negotiations are dead. He's not just saying it's done for now. He's saying it's done, period. I don't know all about the politics, but that's a direct quote from the guy. I think it's over. And I'm glad Pax is saying this. I'll guarantee our players had it in their minds the whole time this was happening. That's no way to have to play a game, no matter how professional you are supposed to be.
  14. Obviously the Bulls would be getting Kobe and the Lakers would be getting Marion, but who else goes where? I would guess Brown to the Suns but that's not enough in return for Marion. My friend heard this - he told me that Kwame definitely went to the Suns and Gordon to the Suns but he wasn't sure about the rest. The janitor at my office says that's B.S., it's a 3-way Bulls/Lakers/Portland.
  15. Hehe, yeah. If that one happened, I'd probably hold a party.
  16. What a retardedly good deal for the Bulls that would be. I know. I had to ask myself if I heard correctly. Bulls steal Kobe away, though the Lakers do save face a bit with that deal. Not championship material, but become much stronger defensively for sure. Kings, I don't know. Well, they mentioned that the Kings wanted Gordon as a point guard. Why, I dont know, but thats what Bucher said. Anyways, not sure when it happens, but I feel very confident the Bulls get Kobe by the weekend. Wait, so we get Kobe and plus keep Hinrich, Tyrus, Noc, Deng??? That can't be right. And the Lakers only get Artest and Wallace? That would be a disaster. Can't be. This is becoming a huge rumor tornado.
  17. They could get worse if the Lakers get our entire roster for Kobe. I agree they aren't likely to make a huge leap as they are, but 2nd round playoffs is better than no playoffs or a one-and-done scenario. And if there's no team around Kobe, I could very easily envision a scenario developing where Kobe is hating life, making everyone else miserable, and the team is winning in the neighborhood of 35 games. If that happened then we just gave up the farm for a nightmare. The trade has to be the right trade, or I'd rather it not happen at all.
  18. Most of this stuff is coming from the Score. Not saying none of it is true, but people need to remember -- this station has an absolutely abysmal record of accuracy. Abysmal.
  19. I still think there's a chance this is all speculation and the actual power players are sitting around watching TV or something. Ding Dongs. They're watching TV eating Ding Dongs, laughing at us.
  20. If this doesn't happen, I'm going to be upset now. I don't see how any of our players could be concentrating on basketball right now. They'll probably come out and get slaughtered tonight.
  21. to be fair he said tuesday at the earliest. I don't think I was being unfair. I realize he said Tuesday at the earliest.
  22. I'll just file this whole thing away in the "I'll believe it when I see it" category. We've been going for months with this stupid thing and nothing has happened. Obviously all possible permutations have been discussed and rejected. At this point I'm sick of hearing about it. Let's start the damn season. It's become nothing but a distraction for both teams. End the talk and let the players play the damn games. Enough already.
  23. So there was no news, I take it? I refuse to get my hopes up about player trades/acquisitions. I think this ownership situation is going to make our offseason a very long, cold, winter affair.
  24. if i remember correctly, it's been a mixed bag. he's nailed some of the prior injury news. he broke a pete rose re-instatement story that never happened. He's been wrong enough times that I associate his name with a rather large grain of salt. Takes more than a couple for me to do that.
  25. I don't see how adding a 3rd team makes the amount the Bulls given up any less. They may be splitting the return between the Lakers and Suns, but they still have to give up what's deemed as "Kobe's value". It could if the 3rd team valued the Bulls offerings more highly than the Lakers do. That's different than what Soul was saying, and even then I think it's unlikely that the difference in perceived value is enough to make much of a difference in what the return is. I think the only reason Pax would be considering dealing with a 3rd club is if he's unwilling to part with both Deng & Gordon. That's what the Lakers asked for, and if we made the salaries match with other players, it would surely get the job done. But it leaves us fleeced. If Pax was willing to do this, there would be no reason to even explore a 3rd team option.
