  1. I think Northern Illinois is the worst team in the history of all sports. Grats on the Buckeyes. USC is finally dead, thank God.
  2. I'll see your Craptober and raise you a Dane Cook with pie in his face. Worst. MLB. Playoff Season. Ever. http://www.danecooksucks.com/
  3. And that'll do it. BoSox up 7-5 now.
  4. I thought everyone outside of Boston was hoping against hope for a Rox comeback. Why root for the Sox? It's only going to lead to 24/7 ESPN ass-kissing sessions for 6 months.
  5. Bah, I still don't believe in BC, or Ryan. Va Tech was playing with a very young QB so their offense wasn't going to do crap, and they aren't all that great anyway. I think this year's QB draft is exceptionally weak. There's not one guy I would say I'm comfortable won't be a bust if he is picked top 5.

  7. Um, no he's not. He's a little guy that plays shortstop. Leadoff hitters can only come from the SS and CF positions. Occasionally a second basemen can bat leadoff, but usually they bat 2nd. So I'll take Theriot batting leadoff over Pie anyday. This is sarcasm, right? I'm not so sure...
  8. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=624 Well color me wrong. I guess I'm the only one not watching. Thanks for the info Tree. It's because it's the Red Sox. People really do watch them, and they do have a ton of fans. Plus the nationally broadcast football games have been such junk lately.
  9. Yup. Actually, it was over when the Red Sox won game 5 of the last series. You two couldn't be more wrong. This game means nothing to the Rockies. They're supposed to lose this game because Beckett is on the mound. Beckett is supposed to be doing exactly what he's in the middle of doing: shutting the Rockies down and winning the game. I think the key game for them is Game 2 and that if they can come out of Boston with a split, they'll be in good shape. Now, if they lose Game 2 and go back to Colorado down 2-0, then they'll be in trouble. But not right now. Do you really think any of the Rox other starters can stop the Sox? Well I don't think the Red Sox are going to score 10 runs on 16 hits through 5 innings every single game. Not to bust your chops or anything, but isn't that pretty much what the Sox have been doing for like the past 3 games straight? Seems like they're pounding out 10+ runs every time out lately.
  10. It's not "fear for your life and belongings" status as long as you stay on major streets. During Bulls games there is a lot of police presence and its not really that bad at all. The neighborhood is actually improving. There is a college and high school nearby and of course the Medical Center to the south. And yes, take Mark's advise and park near Moretti's. You could stay on Michigan ave where all the action is, and then just take one of the shuttles to the UC that run before/after every Bulls game. I did this, it worked out well. Really cuts transportation costs, and there's no parking fee at all.
  11. So, Gordon, Noah, Nocioni, and a first-round pick, plus some way to balance out the moneys? Sign me up for that one. I'd be floored. I'd do that deal so quick my own head might snap off. I doubt the Lakers would go for it. Surely they'll want more than that.
  12. All they have to do is break down and play FWTBT when Holliday comes to bat, and this thread is no longer hijacked
  13. Three words: Neifi's triumphant return.
  14. He better not play a significant role. I certainly hope Skiles/Pax weren't seriously thinking he was going to amount to anything. He's just a guy. He should be happy he got the life experience of being listed on an NBA roster. He can show that to his grand kids someday. But be an effective player? Prove it, big guy.
  15. <----- Massive jealousy. I was only five at the time and didn't discover Metallica until after Justice came out. I wish he would have waited until I was a little older to get thrown out of the bus. Selfish jerk. Haha. 8-) One of the greatest shows ever. It was the first time a band like Metallica played on the arena circuit. Most people came for Ozzy. The look on people's faces was precious. I think Metallica gained like 15,000 fans that night. And yes, Cliff played "Pulling Teeth" It's easily one of my most cherished concert memories.
  16. Cliff Burton (RIP) + best Metallica song (For whom the bells toll) = Burtonbell I also use it for Burton C Bell from Fear Factory, one of my fav bands back in the day. I didn't know you named yourself after Cliff. I saw him play live in '86 on the Master of Puppets tour. It was great. I could have sworn I've heard For Whom the Bell Tolls used at sporting events before. Maybe I'm mistaken. It would definitely be a great entrace song for a closer. Such an ominous mood-setter.
  17. Well, if you consider Wallace a C, then Noah would probably be able to step in and play that role, albiet with an initial dropoff in defensive ability. I would make that tradeoff, though. Between Noah and Joe Smith, and depending on PJ Brown, you should be able to deal with the frontcourt ok. Tyrus's ridiculous vertical abilities help down low too... although he doesn't have the size to deal with true centers yet. I'd assume we'd have to include Tyrus in a deal for Kobe. Even if we offered up Deng?
  18. I would prefer to keep Hinrich. Gordon is redundant with Bryant. I kind of see Wolf's point re: Deng. There's definetly a limit to Luol's ability, as good as he is. If you could build a deal around Deng and keep Hinrich and Gordon, I'd probably do it. The trickiest part is going to be matching salaries. They'd almost have to include Wallace, and LA is going to probably want Thomas, and maybe Thabo as well. I'm not sure how a sign/trade with Brown would work. I mean sure, there's a limit to most players' abilities. For me it's more a matter of not wanting duplicate talent, i.e. Kobe & Gordon, at the cost of a good player that brings other things to the table. Deng may have a ceiling, but it's still a pretty high ceiling all things considered. I dunno.....I'd have mixed feelings if we traded away Deng for Kobe. I guess I'd just wait and see how it works out. We would have even less inside presence.
  19. I've never been on meds that cost that much per month. I know they exist. By the way, they would have had to be more expensive than you say, because the period was from August 2002 - Jan 2005, 2 1/2 years. I don't know what to think about this anyway. It's certainly very fishy that this one person broke headlines just as his team was going out to play the avowed team of the guy in charge of the investigation. I think Indians fans have a right to be a tad lemon-faced right about now.
  20. and they'd laugh at you Think so? If I offered them Gordon, Thomas, Wallace, and a couple picks and salary filler, do you really think they're going to get better offers than that from anyone not in their conference? They might not take it, but I don't think the Lakers are in a position to laugh at anyone at this point. They've got a very limited pool of trading partners here. They've got to either deal or just stick with an unhappy Kobe.
  21. If we get Kobe, I need my starting lineup to still include Deng, and probably Wallace too. So I've got a great guard in Kobe, a very good F in Deng, and inside defense with Wallace. If this can't be done, then I just sit pat. I'll give them Gordon and assorted players to make the salaries match to get Kobe. But not Deng. I think we need to keep in mind that it's the Lakers who are desperate, not us.
  22. So who's the real cheater? Byrd, or Mitchell? http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/22/sports/baseball/22roberts.html?ref=baseball Mitchell is a director of the Red Sox, and on the eve of the Indians winning the ALCS suddenly a story breaks about their starting pitcher using HGH? Wow. Oh, yes. I suppose Selena Roberts is just a bitter Yankees fan. Perhaps, but that doesn't erase the fact that Mitchell should have dissolved his relationship with the Red Sox before taking on this assignment. How did this fly under the radar until now??? Outrageous!
  23. I'm not going to deny that we are a college first state, but Jax is a small market with a huge stadium. Are we too small to deserve a team? maybe. when will pro sports learn? stop putting teams in florida. Baseball, hockey and football already have more teams than they should have there. +1 No offense FloridaCubbie, but the state has proven it won't support pro sports to any reasonable degree. College? That appears to be different.
  24. The rest of the article goes on to argue why those "piped-in" people are likely wrong, so I don't think that's what the NY Post is really saying.
  25. Someone mentioned that the Jags have blocked off a whole section of seats to decrease the capacity of the stadium so they can hopefully sell out more games. I saw a wide shot of the stadium and it looks like the 2nd level of one of the end zones is indeed empty. That's pretty bad. NFL football, you have a playoff contending team and can't sell out your house? Wow. I think it's pretty much decided that Florida has the most lackluster fan support in the nation, right? At least in pro sports? I used to think it was Los Angeles, but that's wrong -- they'll support if the team is good.
