  1. What should Lou do now? Not let them take showers before the game?
  2. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/CubsTombstone.jpg
  3. You say as he strikes out for Iowa. He does have a hit on the night though. Just get him back here. If we're going to lose let's lose with the team we're supposed to have.
  4. It's http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/soulschizm/Ugly_dog1.jpg this ugly.
  5. I heard he donated 75% of his salary to orphans. Wow you hate helping orphans? I do. I believe they should adhere to the capitalist structure and help themselves, not accepting handouts and being lazy! sink or swim little buggers.
  6. Petit punches at the ball in a way that will make a coach scream at you. But of course the bunt gets down perfectly anyway. LAWLZ man. Just LAWLZ.
  7. LOL, I just realized the DBags announcer is the former Brewer announcer. There's no escaping the long arm of the Crew.
  8. This is going to be another shutout isn't it.
  9. At Wrigley that's way out of the park. I'll swear on my grave their HR wasn't hit nearly as hard. Yet by the time it reached the outfielder it was a harmless fly ball.
  10. Sorry for being a bummer guys, but I began preparing myself for 2nd place after those first 2 losses after the all star break and right now I'm glad I did.
  11. They're cheating. No other explanation is possible.
  12. The DBacks have to be cheating somehow. Even the Grace called it a homer off the bat. He went, "uh-oh" It barely made the warning track. Somethin' ain't stirrin' da Kool-ade, Ace.
  13. I just don't understand how that didn't go out. That's the 2nd one this series.
  14. Why didn't Theriot tag and go to 3rd?
  15. It's called "WGN America" now. Because they have to distinguish themselves from that WGN International channel, I guess. Yeah they kicked it off with a week of re-runs from so long ago only us old guys even remember. Hey America, how about some Welcome Back Kotter instead of Moesha!?! We're back and better than ever!
  16. I would hope they did too. Unfortunately I've seen this franchise fail in their due diligence before so I can't take it on faith. Brian's at the age now where it's not only about his current injuries. It's also about whether his body is now apt to break down with new injuries much more often. I guess I still don't see why we just upped the pay of a guy who we still controlled for 4 more years and is showing many signs of serious dropoffs in production. Especially since Angelo's the "we don't renegotiate early" -- I guess that was all crap too.
  17. Who cares about the timing of a thread. Howry has been terribly inconsistent this year and has sucked so far in July. He pitched in a close game and gave up another run late and somebody expressed concern. What's the big freaking deal? I wasn't trying to make a big freaking deal over it. I was just saying it was the offense that put up a goose egg last night. That's all. You were aware of the title of the thread though right? Yeah. If that means I can't post an entry about last night's game specifically though, then just let me know.
  18. what a selfless act it is to sacrifice his own dream of winning a superbowl for a virtual feather in his cap. i really hope this new contract assures his continued cooperation with the media and openness with the fans who have helped make him the face of the bears franchise. he's such a thoughtful person, kudos to you, brian, you steaming pile of excrement. i hope age doesn't begin to restrict your amazing ability to shed blocks. I semi agree with this post I don't really agree with any of it. Brian doesn't appear to be an enlightened person, but he doesn't seem to be much of a bad guy either. He's ruined his own marriage and made a baby or two with a stranger, but it appears he's holding up his end of the bargain with those situations. I don't recall him getting into any meaningful trouble. I don't give a crap about his openness with the media or fans. He's been an elite player with the Bears for several years, and has only been slowed by the occasional injury, while playing probably one of the two most physically punishing positions in the game (RB being the most). i'd like a meaningful sound bite from him once in a while, other than a surly "yes", "no", or "i don't know". that's not simply being an un-"enlightened person", that's being intentionally disrespectful to the people who help pay his salary. i couldn't care less about his ruined marriage or his trail of illegitimate children. but, i don't like that fact that he tried to hold the franchise hostage after he volunteered to restructure his contract in order to re-sign briggs. it makes me think that he's given up on the team's success and wants to smash and grab whatever he can before he can't play anymore. Not to totally defend Brian (because I understand what you are saying), but I've seen interviews where he will give a little more info than normal. I think it's the day-to-day grind with the media that he gets tired of. Not an excuse, but that's my observation anyway.

  20. In terms of W/L last night? It was most certainly unimportant. He didn't factor into the result of the game at all. I said if we're talking about whether Howry will be OK from here out that's definitely in question. This is crazy logic. Anytime a pitcher gives up more runs than his own team scores he doesn't factor into the result of the game? This is good news for all crappy pitchers around the league. Cool! A pitcher's W/L record means something then. Harden, for example, gave up more runs than his team scored last night and hence got the loss. What does that say about Rich, in your estimation? It says he pitched great whereas Howry once again sucked. Okay, fair enough. But my overall point is this: if we score just a nominal output of say 3 runs last night, this thread never gets made. I'm concerned about Howry. Of course. You'd be a fool not to be. There was always going to be some point where he was not able to pull his act together for the 2nd half. Looks like it might be this year. I just think the timing of this is a little off. Howry's been bad for awhile now. Last night was about the damn 0 on the board. With a well-rested Marmol we can likely work around Howry anyway. But certainly not if no runs are crossing the plate.
  21. You need to do better at something so I'm not letting you practice it anymore. Maybe he is seeing a pattern of just "putting on a show" in BP instead of actually working on their games? Perhaps he is "taking away their fun" until they show they have come out of this slump in actualy game action? It almost like Lou saying: " No X-BOX or PS3 kids until your homework is done". Maybe he doesn't know what to do so he's trying something random. Not a real comforting thought, but that's what occurs to me.
