    If it gets us turned around, fine... but at the same time, to think one man can mean so much to a team/season. Good thing it was just 6 weeks and not a season-ending injury! One man doesn't mean so much. This is still the highest scoring offense in the NL and Soriano has only played in half the games, so they've reached that number 1 ranking without him. Unless Len was just lying, we're about .500 without Soriano in the lineup. I think we can hold our own for a bit when Fonz is out, but then it starts to go downhill. We need his hot streaks to make it more difficult on opposing pitchers.

    I'm not going to worry about it yet. There's always a few players that don't participate in TC practices for one reason or another. If something persists, then I'll begin to throw some concern its way.

    It's bad enough they do this, but then in true Yahoo sports fashion, they put out lies on top of it: I've seen Bartman interviewed on TV, he hasn't turned down EVERY SINGLE request. At least one guy was able to speak with him. And that's in addition to the fact that the Cubs were the ones that blew that game, not Steve Bartman.

    Man, you know how annoying that sig is gonna look when the Brewers pass us, Soul?? Just letting ya know ahead of time. Yeah, I think you're right. If they tie us tonight I'll change it. But not a moment before, dammit!

    Come on, the coin flip is a non-story. Just trying to introduce a little humor to the thread, that's all.

    That's not really the same at all. People taking a longer than expected time to come back from injury is completely different than expecting several established hitters to perform after a 5 game slump. It should be different. But it's the Cubs, so it's not different. It's the same. It's failure that should subside, but then just doesn't no matter what should happen. Like ARam's blast night, which was a 3-run homer, yet the laws of the universe suddenly didn't apply anymore and it drops harmlessly into the outfielder's glove.

    Grossman and Orton will be implementing a new system of calling plays in the huddle. Instead of deciding which receiver to throw to based on the game situation, they'll flip a coin to make it fair.

    If M McCaskey isn't the biggest buffoon in the NFL, he's certainly near the top. Virginia had to take it back from him. She's too old to start revolutionizing the team. The real failure is the inability of any of her children to step up. They're all losers, and we're stuck with them.

    That's not an offensive personnel choice. If you have a QB battle, whomever takes the first snap is going to be labeled the leader of the competition. If they actually do have a coin flip, this would serve as a way to shut the freaks up about wanting to know right now who is in the lead. How is it not a personnel decision who will get snaps with the 1st stringers? We're now allowing decisions on the offensive side of the ball to be dictated by media freaks? Wut?

    Coin flip. That can't really be how they chose who will start TC as the first stringer. Someone please tell me we aren't now making offensive personnel choices on coin flips.

    Brewers are one of the choices. Maybe it's now a different poll or something. I chose the Cards. Most people apparently think the Mets will collapse.

    Shouldn't be a surprise. Last offseason they were coming off a Super Bowl run, the year before they were looking to build on a playoff appearance. I don't think they are purposefully wasting the best years of the defense, the problem is they haven't found a quality offensive coach or the correct quality offensive personel. They've drafted RB and QB in the first round. They've spent big on free agent lineman and WR. They just aren't good at picking the right guys and developing them. I have a hard time envisioning this team being in the same picture as the 2005 and 2006 versions, but I'm still somewhat excited for football season. It's not a hopeless season, like the 2005 and 2006 Cubs. They could make some noice. That pretty much nails it. I'm still anxious to see how it turns out, but I'm not going to be driving all the way down to TC this year (for the first time in about 5 years). I'll be seeing 1 game for sure, probably 2. I'm still ready for football, just not jumping out of my seat :)
