don't be surprised, Ryan's a great QB yeah, i didn't think he'd be a good NFL qb, i was way wrong on that. also, wtf denver??? my survivor team just croaked. I'd grab & rehab Hampton for the league minimum. Little risk, possible reward. What possible reward though? Are people hoping he'll become the 1999 Mike Hampton, 10 years ago? He's gonna be 36 next year, and he hasn't had an above average year since 2003, and that year wasn't anything terribly special. His WHIP is horrendous, his ERA capability is 5th starter/long reliever at best, and he hasn't played a full season since 2004, which was cut short due to injury. Why on earth would anyone want this guy? Career 4.01 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and chronic injury problems? 4.85ERA in his comeback 1/2 a year? Yeah. Let's get that. Let's get a a frail version of Jason Marquis. I want that on my favorite team. No I don't. If we're gonna toss league minimum money at a reclamation project who hasn't pitched hardly at all in 3 years and is injury prone, I'd rather throw it at Mark Prior. At least we know that if we get a good return on him it will actually be worthy of at least a middle rotation spot, that and he'll be 10 years younger than Hampton. Hampton is a joke. I'd rather take a flyer on Hidalgo. Blech to Mike Hampton I feel even more strongly against this than you do. Hampton's not even a frail version of Jason Marquis, he pitches like a left-handed Steve Trachsel and has the durability of Darren Dreifort. It's not a non-accomplishment, it's just not a real impressive accomplishment. I'll take an NFL win against anybody, but the fact is this ballclub would have to play much, much better than they've shown to win up in Minny next week. The Vikes actually looked pretty damn good against Jax today. The Jags aren't really all that special, but they are certainly a higher quality opponent than the Rams and that game wasn't close. Now they get to play at home against a struggling defense and a team that appears to have just acquired a new group of injuries (in addition to Orton's already-injured ankle). It's not a real good scenario coming up for us, unfortunately. We'll see what happens, but right now it looks like advantage Vikes.

He's not turning up the field when he should on many kicks. Hester was always at his best when he took off straight up the field on kicks. He doesn't do that anymore. He always looks for the sidelines. I guess that's what happens when you've lost a couple of steps. If you don't have quite as much speed, all the more reason to make sure you are getting up the field as soon as possible after catching the ball. Only the truly elite speed demons are going to outrun entire coverage teams across the field when they have all the angles and a head of steam to boot. Even cream of the crop speedsters are going to get taken down most times.

So, 1st down they miss a wide open receiver in the middle of the field on a bad throw. 2nd down the ball hits the receiver but the catch is not made. 3rd down receiver is covered. 2/3 plays would have been decent gains for a competent team.

Then he says "way too many guys had a chance to tackle Forte." I count one missed tackle on that play. If you want to add the other safety who got juked, then fine that's 2. Can we get some quality commentary for a change? Sheesh.
