  1. Yeah. Might be good enough to get in the playoffs on Rose alone, too.
  2. Is it really the grudge? I mean come on, it's been 40 years. Time to let it go.
  3. Please be colder, and snowier, than ever.
  4. One can hope the judge assigned to the case forces WGN to reorganize their TV lineup.
  5. WSJ piece: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122876270495988567.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
  6. It should be a really good Monday night game. And it's supposed to be snowy and blustery here. Sounds like the perfect evening to curl up inside and watch the game.
  7. Again, NO (a bad road team) has to travel to the cold weather, on a short week. The Bears should win the game. And no pun intended, but Green Bay may have "packed" it in already. Their season is over and are an inferior team to the Bears, 11/16 results aside. Houston does look tough, especially at home. I hope the Packers have lost their intensity, but the NO game scares me. Yes NO has a horrible road record but look at the teams they lost to. None of those were easy games. I hope you're right though.
  8. Honestly, I don't think there is any basis for Turris to get suspended. He may have been running his mouth, but that's all he did until he got a knuckle sandwich. Then it was just a fight. Versteeg clearly escalated it from trash talk to a fight. If that's grounds for a suspension, which I don't think it is, then he might be in trouble. instigators in the last 5 minutes of a game get an automatic 1 game suspension. sometimes it's revoked but this doesn't sound like one of those times. Well, then, in that case #32 will probably be watching from the owner's box on Wednesday night. And again, I can't say I disagree. He instigated a fight by punching Turris in the face. If Turris was serious about dancing, he would have dropped his gloves. As it happened, he didn't drop his gloves until Versteeg was pounding on him. That kinda sucks but the reality is Versteeg's working with a 6 goal lead and probably shouldn't let the guy get him so upset. All you really need to say is "scoreboard." End of story, have a nice flight back to Phoenix. Again though, I didn't see it so I'm just popping off without any real knowledge.
  9. It's interesting because I think it would have been a better matchup to just have Iowa/Mizzou and then Northwestern/SC. I don't really care, so to speak. I wish there was a better way to determine things that's all. Right now it's determined based on opinion and hypotheticals (to a large degree). I don't like that. I'm not losing any sleep over it though.
  10. I was doing all kinds of Christmas-stuff last night and missed the game. Did it happen like Gretsky said?
  11. ...and the fact that MSU and Northwestern both beat Iowa? iowa travels very well and is red hot. i think they would beat northwestern by two td's if they played right now. they'd possibly beat osu. They still shouldn't leapfrog teams they lost to, especially when they finished with a worse overall record. That said, Northwestern probably played themselves into a blowout. It might've been a nicer ending to the senior's time at the school if they drew a lower bowl. Overall record is a pretty meaningless tool for a situation like this. Iowa went 3-1 in non-conference because they lost a close game AT Pitt. Northwestern's toughest road game was at Duke. It would stink to be a Northwestern fan and get jumped by a team you beat head to head. However I think Iowa is definitely a better team and they will bring thousands more fans. It was clear this would happen. Iowa's probably better, but they didn't prove it on the field against those teams.
  12. I shorted the quote for brevity's sake but that's a great story nilo. Thanks for posting it.

  14. I wonder why the Cubs are intent on signing the LH hitter first. With the names being thrown about, it doesn't seem like that would be a real necessary thing. Doesn't seem like there would have to be any kind of sequencing in place when you're just talking about guys like Bradley.
  15. I'm having a hard time believing the Bears can beat both NO and GB -- both high-pass offenses against our weakness, which is pass D. But, just have to wait and see I guess. Maybe the cold weather will put the cork in Brees' bottle on Thursday. We can hope for that. Houston looks better to me than I originally thought. That last game is no gimme either. It's kind of a tough haul for the Bears from here on out. We're definitely pushing up hill.
  16. DeRosa has put together three pretty solid seasons, with remarkable consistency. Last year his HR's were up a bit, but his other numbers have been pretty steady. His HRs were nearly double his next best season. He's also coming off his best OPS+ season to date. So who knows, Mark was supposed to be coming off a career year when he left Texas, but he's shown that just wasn't true.
  17. Yeah, if the Lions win, all of a sudden the NFC North swings from "Vikings in the drivers' seat" to complete chaos. Even if the Lions don't win, Minnesota has three straight games against playoff teams to end the year. Without their two big run-stuffers, I'd be shocked if they win more than one of those games. Without them yes. Depending on the results of the hearing tomorrow, they may still play.
  18. I'll take it over previous seasons, where the Hawks would suck in the 1st period, and then spend the 2nd and 3rd periods attempting to top the suckage from the 1st.
  19. I can't believe Dunn is still only 28 years old. It seems like he's been around for longer than that. The Cubs keep talking about their need for a legit power LH bat. Who are the great options out there that we could sign who are LH, power, + solid defense? That's pretty much a star player -- I fear that we're going to sit on the fence all offseason again, wind up with nothing, when a decent (but not great) option like Dunn was available. That said, I can see myself being incredibly frustrated watching him play because of his shortcomings. I just don't want to wind up with no improvement at all.
  20. It shouldn't be too hard to improve on his 1.458 WHIP from last year, but I'm still very happy to have him off this team.
  21. Way to look like crap against a bottom-level team Bolls.
  22. I'm gonna come in here and call out Huet before every one of his starts too, because was actually pretty solid tonight.
  23. Open netter seals it. Nice comeback win tonight. Man this team can look bad, then just flip the light switch and blow doors off everything.
  24. Great couple of quick goals in the 3rd. Come on, hold on guys, just 90 seconds.
