  1. The Knicks could seek to add someone that would attract LeBron to New York. Of course, that would cost more money.
  2. They're obviously stalling on it because the Vikes are in a close race, and they'd rather not pull two primary players off a team battling for a playoff spot. I'll bet the league office is praying the Bears can win this one.
  3. Yeah Brees against out pass D? Ouch I don't have the first clue how they'll be able to stop that. Even in sub-freezing temps. But, we'll see.
  4. 2 wins on the circus trip -- even against depleted/subpar teams -- certainly makes me feel better than NO wins on the circus trip.
  5. After last night, that NO game suddenly scares me more. Yes, it will be in the cold @ Soldier Field, but still.
  6. LMAO! What a finish!
  7. i was reading this just as utah was getting another wide open dunk You should have seen earlier in the game, they had like 6 monster dunks in a row on us. I've never seen such non-defense down low.
  8. Man they just toss it someone open under the basket at will, it seems. How do we get some defense against easy lay ins and dunks?
  9. Start with the Channels button.
  10. Way to blow a nice 6 point lead late in the 4th, Bulls. What-the-eff-ever.
  11. In honor of our amazing pass defense that I've heard about so much this season, I've decided I'm going to post just like they're playing tonight. Congrats on the division, Bears/Vikings. We're just too inconsistent this year. As I said before, the packers may not be very good, but they don't need to be to win the division. The Bears certainly aren't, and the Vikings don't seem to be either. By the way, nice pass defense while I was typing this  None of the 3 teams are really very good. This is embarrassing to watch for Packer fans though.
  12. What a dumb play call. Sometimes Payton out thinks himself. If the Pack scores here they're right back in it. Why give them the opportunity?
  13. No resident Packer fans in here talking about the game? weak.
  14. don't see it there. Try Stooge 002. And of course now that I'm watching the Bulls start to suck, LOL.
  15. but, YAAAY for stoogetv
  16. BOOOOOOOOO for Bulls games I can't get and the Bulls are winning.
  17. oh yeah they did Yes, I can vouch for this. The Ramirez/Lofton trade was met with a lot of mixed emotions and the overall tone at the time was negative. The Lofton part of the trade excited me at the time. I sure don't remember any mixed emotions. It seems to me that everyone (including the writers) thought that the Cubs were the big winners in the deal. I'm just talking about the reaction here on NSBB. I distinctly recall more than a little negative reaction here. I was surprised because I considered it a pretty good deal at the time. What I remember most was some guy in one of the power rankings saying "the Cubs will find Ramirez and Lofton aren't enough, and will fade out of the race" or something like that. Which was pretty funny when we began our run and won the division.
  18. We've the shift in recent years by some players. Many of them want long-term deals for security, and that has been the push and standard. But in the last two years we've seen several players opt out of lucrative deals, only to sign more lucrative deals because the salary inflation is so rapid, such that the back end of a 4 or 5 year deal may not maximize value. You end up with possibilities where you could argue someone was underpaid at the back-end of his contract. Wood is 31. A one-year arbitration does nothing to hurt his value next off-season at age 32, unless a season-ending injury occurs. So as Goony points out, it's not crazy at all. 3/24 this off-season or next, there is little Wood could do to damage that value, again barring a season-ending injury. If he makes it through the season healthy, thus showing he can handle the bullpen workload 2 years in a row, 5/50-60 wouldn't be out of the question next offseason. And if he hurts his arm, his future contracts would be zero. It's a gamble, but he's at a point that he needs to think about long-range security. Also, this discussion was based on him being offered 3/24. What if there's a 3/32 or 4/40 offer this year? I'd imagine he would take that.
  19. It's huge, IMO. I think it's the difference. Pack win 27-20. We'll see how wrong I am about this one since I'm on a bad streak lately.
  20. Charlie Weis starts every day before 5 am and has recruited three straight great classes to Notre Dame. But yeah, he's lazy. I'll just assume you have some inside info, but what does getting up at 5am have to do with anything? The results speak for themselves. With all the supposed talent he can't win. I guess he'll have next year to turn it around. Then the alumni will come with torches & pitchforks.
  21. Let's just get this unholy circus trip over and see where we are at after they can get back on a normal schedule.
  22. Hmmm. I don't agree. Tiebreakers always seem to come into play at the end, especially in tight divisional/WC races. And we're in a tight divisional race. If the Bears lose out on most of their tiebreakers with a loss on Sunday, for me that makes this win paramount.
  23. Less money than what? Less than what he was hoping/asking for, or less than was actually offered to him? The reason I ask is, I haven't heard anything about what is actually being offered to him. Those rumors seem to be virtually nonexistent. Less than the reported 4/50 million monster contract that caused nearly everyone to say we should cut him loose because it's too much money.
  24. Biiiiiig game next week. National TV audience, all those people sitting at home digesting their Thanksgiving leftovers, watching only the Bears/Vikes game. If you're going to do something Lovie, now would be a good time to do it.
  25. Yes. He's funny though. It sounds like he might actually be serious about this thing. LOL.
