  1. Bobby Wade was an okay possession receiver who got cut because he dropped too many punts. He's hardly thrived away from Chicago though. As for your point on Vasher, it's not like the Bears are getting beat by QBs standing in the pocket for 6-7 seconds. They aren't pressuring the QB, but Vasher isn't covering guys either. They are getting beat on quick pass plays for the most part, which is very much a secondary problem. To be fair, I said he was neither a great DB or a bad DB. I still think the biggest problem with the current DB's is the pass rush. Since there isn't a pass rush of any significance, the QB's confidence level is through the roof and he feels like he can accomplish anything in the pocket. Only the receiver knows where he is going. The DB has to guess where the receiver is going. This gives the receiver a significant advantage on pass routes. What gives the DB a fighting chance against the receiver is pass pressure. If you can't flush the QB out of the pocket, hurry his pass, knock him on his butt, etc.... the success rate of pass plays will be much higher for the offense. If there is no disruption of a passing play, the play will likely be completed, which is exactly what we are seeing. I don't disagree, but I've seen Vash get juked right out of his shoes on quick outs and jersey's right -- he doesn't cover well on the quick throws to his side. Those don't have much to do with pass rush. They're plays where you just have to have good corners to shut them down. At least when Till gets beat on a quick throw he's punching the ball out.
  2. Vasher's just a guy who had a lot of picks one year, managed to hold it together for a 2nd year, and then got paid. I'm convinced what we're seeing now is the real Vasher. Remember, he was not all that highly touted coming out of college.
  3. I think Golden State and Philadelphia are more than winnable games for us. That's it? This is going to suck again then.
  4. I think I would be just fine with cutting Vasher. That can't be too bad a cap hit can it? He's either hurt, or not 100% because of prior injury, or he's getting juked out of his shoes yet again. He never blows up plays anymore and from what I'm seeing, he simply can't cover anymore. I'd dump him, first reasonable opportunity.
  5. How do they explain what happened to day as far as giving yards up on the ground. The packers have been terrible running the ball while the bears have been great. The pack had 200 yards rushing on 38 plays (5.3 per play, the Bears were like around 3.5 and #1 in 'stuffs'), it wasnt like the Minnesota game where AP got 53 on 1 play....they got beat consistantly today. Things don't add up. Last weeks comment from Lovie about 'the players believe in the scheme' really iritated me. And after reading some of Tommie's and Vashers comments after last weeks game i dont totally believe that. Why would he say that anyway, he basically told the players to not question things because he said they are all 'bought in'. Offense sucked i'll say that but the defense was just as awful. This defense was supposed to be good enough to win games. When have they won a game yet. I don't think they have put a game on their shoulders yet. And they might not the entire year. To answer your question at least partially, I feel like the Bears have been selling out on D to stop the run all year long. They've been showing that "mug up" look all year, and keeping a safety in the box. Today they didn't do that because they couldn't. Too many receiving options for the Packers. So the Packers just decided to run it, and it worked beautifully. Mike Brown is right, we just aren't a very good defense anymore. What hurts me as a Bear fan is, I don't think we have a good DC, and I don't think the Lovie system is really working anymore. Every week just proves this to me even more. With little hope for improvements, I find myself hoping Lovie is let go more & more. What else can I do? I don't see the players suddenly "cluing back in" to his program, and I don't see his coordinators as capable of making adjustments.
  6. Alright fellas, sorry but it's time to head to the Red Zone channel and find out what's happening around the league.
  7. I prefer Brian Orakpo amongst defensive ends. I also agree, pull Orton. This game is out of reach and he's going to re-aggravate his injury with this offensive line. If Orapko is there I agree, but more than likely the Bears will draft 12-16 and at this point, I don't see Orapko falling. I've seen Johnson go before 12-16 too (though given his play this season, he doesn't deserve to). But I think the Bears will go DE in the first round...I don't mind but I would love to see them go OL. If it were up to me, I'd cut T. Harris and draft a fat DT along side Dusty and Harrison, but the Bears won't do so. I'd probably go OLB with probably Aaron Curry, Maualuga for ILB shifting Urlacher to OLB, etc. but I agree that the Bears will do DE and cut Wale. I have no problem with going DE and cutting Wale, I'd rather not pour even more money into the linebackers. I'd give Harris one more year. don't see Harris getting healthy to the point where he was two years ago before the injuries and with that contract, they have to be proactive as far as unloading Harris and Wale, depending on the cap hit. Haha. Nice. It's just kind of funny. I said this in August and got lambasted for it.
  8. Well, we beat the Pack 26-0 once. Now they pay us back 27-3. Hey, we're still ahead in point differential between those two games!!!! Whoo!
  9. I'm trying to remember, but wasn't there a season @ Miami where Devin just completely disappeared as well? I think we need to decide whether this guy is going to be our returner, or our receiver. Not both.
  10. Oddly enough, if Minnesota loses today, three teams will be tied for first (and third) in the NFCN at 5-5. I really don't think Minny is that great either. But -- we could very well go up there and get dismantled by Peterson. If we do, then there won't be much doubt that we're the 3rd place team in the division.
  11. I'm sorry we're going to lose this game, but maybe now at least we can dispense with the fantasy that we're a good team and start talking about what needs to be done to improve.
  12. On D at least, he's right.
  13. It's hard to beat a team that can run over another team. I can understand emphasizing refs when it's a close and evenly played game, but to do so when GB is wiping the floor with the Bears to almost ignore how bad the Bears have been is another. The refs have been awful, but the Bears have been worse. Yeah you certainly can't beat the refs and the opponent, but the way the Bears are playing today they could have the refs squarely in their corner and still get beat.
  14. So is Monday's Lovie Smith show going to be yet another BS-fest with nobody asking the tough questions?
  15. Probably against teams that are actually competent. It was to the Lions... Ouch. Oh yeah I forgot that one.
  16. Probably against teams that are actually competent.
  17. No, I didn't think that should be interference. so when you hit somebody's arm right before the ball gets there it's not a penalty? No, I didn't think it rose to the level of pass interference.
  18. When does Lovie and his staff start getting called on the carpet for their horrible playcalls and gameplans? I just want to know how long I have to wait, that's all.
  19. No, I didn't think that should be interference.
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHHH. AAAAHAHAHHAAHHAAHH. Yeah, Maynard's actually having a great season! Great season Brad!! He's great isn't he?!?
  21. WTMFH!?!>? OMFGZ!!!!! Give them more points!!!!
  22. "You guys are just killin' us, man." Guess what Tommie, you deserve it buddy. You freaking deserve it.
  23. This season is slowly but surely turning out to be what I thought it would be in August. Nice job getting everyone's hopes up with some surprises earlier in the year, but what we're seeing right now is the real Bears. Bad coaching, aging overpaid defenders, no real playmakers on offense. They may finish slightly better than expected, but make no mistake: this is not a good team, and it's the 2nd disappointing season in a row for Lovie Smith -- a coach whose luster is very quickly rubbing off.
  24. LOL. Hester has totally lost it.
