  1. Well, so much for the big Cards upset. And so much for this game too.
  2. Scary that you can walk around with something like that and not even know it. Play basketball for years, too.
  3. Yeah. Even when the hangman's noose is being fitted over his neck in his current job, Lovie doesn't want to take a solid opportunity to start again. I would have bolted for UT in a second. That's a solid college job. SEC. Tons of national TV coverage. The biggest reason I thought it might have the possibility of being realistic was job security. Lovie has none in Chicago, he'd have plenty in Knoxville. He must really think he can win next year in Chicago. Yeah. That's what I would have thought, as well. It's hard to predict 2010, but I'm bracing for the worst. Since I don't feel Lovie is the right coach to carry this team forward, I'm not sure I even want him to succeed. For the Bears the priority must be Jay Cutler. I just cannot see Lovie being the right guy to move him and the offense forward. I think he would have been a good fit in Tennessee. But no, he just cuts it off. Doesn't sound like he has a real good perspective right now to me.

  5. Romo's got his playoff legs now. 'Boys obliterate the Vikings. Like the Bears in the first half, but no comeback. It's true.
  6. That is both surprising and encouraging. Is it really encouraging at all when it's 4-13? The fact that their division manages to contain three worse road teams doesn't make me feel any better. Just saying. Basically, that was just my semi-condescending way of letting you know they're 4-13 on the road. I guess it's just surprising, then 8-)
  7. Aww, I missed the internet fight.
  8. When he's on he's alright? He's not Martin Brodeur, but he's a good goalie. I really don't get all the constant concern about Huet. Because he's the weakest link on a championship caliber team, and a giant question mark as to how he's going to perform in the playoffs on a nightly basis. He goes into a funk and we're toast. But that's what I liked about last night's game. He didn't let the last game bother him and he bounced back. Maybe he's improving. He's a question mark only because people are obsessed with the notion of a goalie who has done it before, even though the Stanley Cup playoffs are always filled with surprise goalies who haven't done it before and proven goalies fall left and right. He's been good this year, calm the funk down. He's 24th in save percentage. All I was asking was why he can't play more like last night, more often.
  9. That is both surprising and encouraging.
  10. is injured really the right word there? No, I don't think so. That's terrible.
  11. Yeah, I don't think every ounce of the bulk just disappears. At least not for everyone. If he was also weight lifting, and if he continues to, there's no reason he's going to go back to what he looked like his rookie year.
  12. Or the steroids caused the injuries and cost him substantial playing time. Steroids helped him add a lot of bulk, but they don't do anything for tendons and ligaments. And the added strain from all that bulk certainly wasn't helping. Yeah, it's hard to say on that.
  13. It's distressing, but entirely expected. They aren't going to find a top OC, or a top DC. It's got to be someone who is fine with not being able to unpack the suitcases for a year.
  14. Why can't Huet just play like that more consistently? Some pretty good saves out there last night. When he's on, he's alright. When he's not.......he's really not.
  15. Sharpen your knives; I just heard he interviewed for OC. Not OL.
  16. I know, right? Who wants to see stuff where people compete based on time or other tangible factors. I'd much rather see a panel of judges score the participants arbitrarily. Basically, if it's not a race or curling, it's a waste of time. Which is like 80% of the Winter games. But the skaters are so pretty.
  17. yeah, but I've given actual baseball logic for why AZ makes more sense in this thread. The votes for florida are "they'd be closer to me!" The only baseball reason to move to florida is that they'll provide facilities that are enough better to offset all the other reasons to stay in AZ. If the reasons to stay in AZ were so compelling(my memory is that the main thing is having crappy FL weather impact the hub of your in-season operations), wouldn't we see a lot of teams leaving FL for AZ? I think it might be overblown. It hasn't exactly been a flood of teams, but there have been several moving operations from FL to AZ over the past few years. Can't think of anyone going the other way. So we'd be trailblazers for once 8-)
  18. The thing is, they really needed that when they went after him. This team was dull and without any offensive weapons. It just so happened that right after they acquired him all the talented young players started breaking out, thus immediately making his services less valuable to the team. yeah i agree with that, plus that was the offseason immediately after the passing of dollar bill. they really needed to make a big signing like that... campbell is a good player but the signing was as much symbolic as it was a sound hockey move. it showed blackhawk fans that rocky wirtz wouldn't be leading the team in the same way his dad did. Yeah, I don't find myself hating Campbell. I'd like the contract gone, but I'm not sitting there wishing he wasn't on the ice or anything. I'm not up to speed on every team's situation but I'm sure lots of teams have a guy like this on their roster. It shouldn't mean we can't find a way to use him, and be successful.
  19. I just hate the option. It's so dull and unimaginative. I can see that but when only a few teams are running it, I love it. I think what a lot of the "spread" teams are doing is really dull and unimaginative. Georgia Tech's offense (outside of the Iowa game) is really explosive against some good teams. I'll admit I didn't watch a lot of GT football this year, but in the bowl game I was looking forward to seeing what they were doing that was so special. After watching it, I came away wondering what the big deal was.
  20. He's been...ehem....preparing to pinch hit.
  21. I said I didn't mind "losing" Fewell, and you said I'm suggesting this means they will luck into a better candidate and that it's possible the defense would get worse. OK. I guess I inferred that, because frankly what else would it be? They sure as heck aren't going to get better people because of how good a job they're doing running the club and filling roles. It would be luck. But, sorry for putting words into your mouth.
  22. I'm not suggesting that, what I was saying is that a Lovie disciple was not likely to fix this Lovie defense which has failed miserably for three years. 2010 depends on the OC and Jay Cutler. They cannot rely on the defense to make a difference. The defense could most definitely sink far enough that Jay and the OC can't overcome it. And the search for OC isn't going all that well either. I guess you just aren't going to read what I wrote. I'm not sure what you are getting at that I didn't speak to. Sorry.
  23. Sign me up for a bench role. Stick him in there when Soriano's legs decide to give him trouble again.
  24. The 2010 Cubs: waiting for real change.
